Looking at the entire Q4 2004 and Q1 2025 I must say things got really slow with DCS development. If not for The 5 (personal significance) and The Fog (the true Core) I don't really see much more making into 'this year in review.' To be honest it's completely the opposite from what I thought would happen after the Open Beta/Stable unification 🙂

ATC and [Suspension], where art thou? 😉

Did you stop reading our change logs?

We have been busy.

I might have dropped the ball a bit recently but for a good cause 😉 But I'm trying to stay on top of things as far as DCS goes. My impression is simply that vast majority of deliverables in the last ~6 months were module-specific, not Core-specific.

Bug fixes are very important, but at same time you want something new to experience. Otherwise it's getting rather boring doing the same thing over and over again. That has been missing for some time now. I think it's what OP wanted to say. Also the expectations are high with lots of stuff promised to come.

I think people have short memories sometimes, we have updated DCS core for multithreading which was a huge task, added VOIP, improved clouds, there are more to list, but you get the point. We deliver new items when they are ready, we will be sharing a new long await core feature soon. The reality is new features take time, design, development, testing, guides, marketing ect.

I think we live in a world where people want instant gratification, and that isn't the reality of the situation. And of course we have glass half empty, glass half full personalities 🙂

I think you get it the other way around. My memory serves me quite well and I do appreciate the recent core achievements. It just so happens that very few of them were delivered in Q1 2025 🙂 I'm also noticing that updates now seem to have a monthly cadence.

Ah, yes, that's a big one. It doesn't look like Ugra is willing to ditch the 90's RTS game color grading (y-e-l-l-o-w) but it does count as CORE feature in my books for at least two reasons. For one, it's finally not another patch of sand! Two, it DCS finally reaches a part of Central Europe. So yes, that is going to be a big one. I also noticed it uses something akin to normal maps (first seen in Iraqi map?) so it doesn't look like a plastic texture.

I always go with 'no news is good news' especially in the wake of the theatrics that lead up to the F-4 and F-15 the two previous years.

Besides, 2024 didn't heat up until May, in that regard. Back end improvements don't receive fanfare like a module release does.

I like the monthly updates, for me it is much better than having them more frequently as I enjoy stability the most.
