CPU runs +20° hotter in idle after update to 2.9.16.10523.

After installing the latest update, which includes the Quick Mission Creator, now when launching DCS from the launcher, and on the landing page, my fans go crazy and start throttling - my CPU is running hot - when idle.  This didn't happen before this update.  I have a new maching, Ryzen 7 7700X, GPU seems to be running normal.  My DB's when idle were in the low 30's, and I customized the RPMs for this game specifically.  Now at idle, the DB's on the machine are mid 50's.  Anyone else having this issue?

Updated to 2.9.16.10523 yesterday and ran the game after the update.
Directly noticed that my PC made quite a bit more noise than before the update when sitting in the main menu.
Wasn't 100 % sure about the previous CPU temps and load but i guessed it was a lot lower.
With the update to 2.9.16.10523, CPU temp was 77° and 44° CPU load.

To be 100% sure i reverted back to 2.9.15.9599.1 and took some snapshots of the Afterburner values in the main menu.

2.9.15.9599.1: CPU temp: 52°C, CPU load 24%

DCS_2.9.15.9599.1.jpg

2.9.16.10523: CPU temp: 74°C, CPU load 45%

DCS_2.9.16.10523.jpg

The same behaviour is also noticable in game where in 2.9.16.10523 things run a lot hotter.

After reverted back to 2.9.15.9599.1 the lower temps and load were back to normal, after updating again to 2.9.16.10523 it was back to the hotter temps and higher loads.

Same here me and my friends are also having the same problem.
After the newest update ( 2.9.16.10523 ) the CPU consumption went crazy.
In the same Single Player Test Scenario the usage went up from 14% - 16% to crazy 24 26%. temps went up almost 20 degrees C lol.
BTW the test map is empty caucasus with different clients in different parts of the map for testing.

Also even in the main menu where before this update i got almost idle temps and cpu usage .. now the CPU is at crazy 16 to 18% and temps as high as 62+ degrees C instead of the 37 - 38 i usually had.

I reverted to the penultimate update ( 2.9.15.9599.1 ) and the temps and CPU usage are just fine, as the always were in DCS .. something is wrong with the new update.

@BIGNEWY

Good evening. After the update, the CPU temps run high from the initial loading page and do not drop after loading is completed. I'm running an AMD 7700X with watercooling having idle temps at max 43 degrees now with ambient temp at around 24. When loading DCS temps go high to the mid 80s and dont drop at all even after running a mission or mission editor. A lot of people reverted to the previous update reporting that it went back to normal.

Thanks for confirming that I wasn’t going crazy.  How do you revert to the last update?  I want to do that as well.

its best they open a thread and attach the dcs log and dxdiag, it could be anything without seeing the data.

Hi,

I'm not seeing the same issue as you, so I will need to see some logs or data to try and pin down what you are seeing.

None of our testing team have reported higher temps during testing.

I have the exact same issue noticed my CPU fans ramping up in the home menu and temps are up in game. My CPU is 5800X

I see about the same ... however, my DCS feels noticeably snappier, including the Mission Editor, load times seem lower and the time to exit to desktop is also lower, so I don't have a problem with this increased load per se, as long as the performance is better than before.

just report 20º more in my setup (7800XD) in 2.9.16; at 70º in main menu. Before I was on 50º. It seems more stuttering to me.

Please BN review your testing because with my setup I have also 20º higher in comparison with the previous version. This seems a joke. Thanks.

Same issue here, I'm on a Ryzen 5 5600X and cpu consumption is much bigger with this new version. CPU temps are 10ºC higher too (increase from about 60º to 70º).

Interesting.  This seems to be specific system related.  I normally don't pay any attention, but my temps have not changed on high end AMD system.

Clearly an issue for some, but I think saying "MOST" people are having this issue is exaggerating the problem or it would be much more widely reported.  That's why ED didn't pick up on the issue.  I'm on an AMD 9800 X3D (albeit 2D) and hitting 45-50C max in game with setting pretty cranked up.
