So I guess I'll just have to wait. Have others reported FPS as low as 5? I've seen other report big fps drops. But haven't seen talk about sub 10 fps. Ive actually just read of someone with an I7 7900X (older 8 core CPU), who says hes got 99% CPU usage and the game is basically unplayable. The only way to get such a usage with 8 cores is some kind of bug (or hardware issue), so youre probably not alone. Its not special for bugs like this affect people very differently. Ive seen people with powerful CPUs get 3 cores maxed, while my basic mid tier CPU (I5 12400F) just gets weird load spikes distributed over all cores and isnt as affected. Ive actually played a VR liberation mission today, and ran a bit worse, but playable and fun.
HR-Crumble Posted May 24 Posted May 24 5600x +22C more at idle. fans on all of system going almost max rpm just sat at idle in the game menu or miz editor. If I rollback the driver. Zero issues. @BIGNEWY what’s the timeline on a fix as it could affect people’s hardware pretty badly. 2 1
PLUTON Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Hello, My problem is this: I was flying a solo mission with two planes (F16s) flying only over Germany. After an hour of flying, DCS crashed with a black screen and a loud, low-pitched background noise coming from the speakers. So I had to shut down my PC. I turned it back on and restarted DCS, but DCS got stuck on the search image without going any further. When I typed this text using Google Translate, the text displayed in slow motion. What's going on, and what should I do? Thank you for your help. I forgot to mention that I have an Intel 7700K with 8 cores and everything works 100% normally??

PLUTON Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Many dcs users have noticed their processor overheating since the last update so I think I have the same problem as them except that I am not called enough to dig into my PC to see the temperature of my processor the only thing that I notice is that my fans are running much faster since the incident that happened to me just now in addition to the fact that my PC has become very slow in its operation and as I am far from being a computer scientist that is the reason for my request for help 1

It won't really affect hardware, modern CPU's will downclock to keep from getting damaged. And many are designed to run at 90c+ just fine. All it's currently doing is increasing CPU usage for no good reason. But it's almost certainly reducing performance in-game due to the increased CPU usage generally. Edited May 24 by MoleUK 1
YoYo Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I confirm. Something has been broken in core management in general. Generally, currently, DCS operation causes a much higher load on the CPU, it was not so much that some cores worked on such a high load. In addition, the temperatures are actually like in stress test software. Now I noticed that the temperature even reaches 96 degrees Celsius on the core. However, the standard for DCS was 65-80 degrees for me, and now we have too large numbers. 1 Webmaster of http://www.yoyosims.pl Win 10 64, i9-13900 KF, RTX 5090 32Gb OC, RAM 64Gb Corsair Vengeance LED OC@3600MHz,, 3xSSD+3xSSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5, [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor2, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: Meta Quest Pro

It wouldn’t be good if it caused thermal throttling performance due to heat or increases to internal case temp which could affect other components also. Hopefully we get a hot fix soon. Cupra Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Is the problem solved now? With the actual Version i do not get over 70°C with the 9800X3D in VR with the 4080S and Reverb G2. Also o really faster CPU fan, that little Noctua NH-U12S seems to do a quite pretty job here. DCS F-16C Blk. 40/42 :helpsmilie: Candidate - 480th VFS - Cupra | 06

4romeodelta Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I am experiencing the same issue running an 17 14700KF. CPU temps were consistently 50-55C before update, now 70-75.
RimanDk Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I am also seeing 74c on the CPU in the main menu. I'm on a 7800X3D with an RTX 4090 and 64Gb of ram. 1

scommander2 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 5090 is a powerful GPU. However, the CPU/GPU bound context switching is more frequently in the recent patches and It does not help for the powerful GPU owners. silverdevil Posted May 25 Posted May 25 IMO i think what is happening, especially considering the radio silence from the devs, is intel cpus 13 and 14 gen causes troubles with the p/e core architecture. ED is trying to use more CPU to correct the performance issues, but those changes also elevates the heat. which is normal. higher cpu causes more heat. obviously. users see the added temps on their systems. in my case i have an older cpu before p/e cores. so essentially all p cores. Idle temperatures are around 48-50°C." 75 C as a point of contention is likely unwarranted. it just means the cpu is running better and it is what we want. When i start a mission. Once i hit play. My CPU runs at like 30-40% no major increase in heat as i can see. And my GPU is idling at 30C. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

Gunfreak Posted May 25 Posted May 25 This is what my DCS is like now. This is what my system does while DCS mission is running This is how it runs in 2D This is the exact same mission, I flew a couple of weeks ago, this is in VR. The No changes to the mission at all. It went from running perfect to being completely unplayable. No other games are affected. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
