If your motherboard does indeed support it, but you dont have a bios option to do it - it could be that you need to update your bios to a later version.

Indeed! I dug a little deeper and though my Motherboard is a MSI Z490 PLUS, it is apparently a CHINA only Motherboard (MS-7C98) that MicroCenter used in their PC's. Doesn't look like there is a REbAR compatible BIOS update for this board.  So I guess I live without Resizable Bar!

DCS specific test results

2D resizable bar on - cpu bound 215 fps from DCS.  I play VR so graphics set pretty low.

Off - maybe 10 fps loss - gpu bound

VR Bar on 60-62
      Bar off 52-55

I tried the tweak yesterday and subjectively, without testing it felt better.  With testing, those were my FPS numbers.

What test did you run?

3D Mark Port Royal.  I'd recently upgraded from a 12900k/4090 to 14900k/5090 and I still had the results saved from when I was tuning the 5090.  With no other changes, I just re-reran it after enabling it in the global profile and the score increased by 9%.

Is there any noticeable difference in DCS?

Well speaking for me and my PC I seen no difference in the quick and dirty test I just ran.

AH-64D Syria range mission here are the results:

ReBar OFF:

1. (11.8ms Looking, Center front seat)        (14.3ms  Looking, Left Front seat)     (13.2ms Looking,  Right front seat)

ReBar ON:

1.  (12.1 Center front seat)            14.2ms Left Front Seat)      (13.2ms  Right  front seat)

Basically  the same so for myself I seen no difference.. Now maybe if a scene came up where ReBar would come into affect it would matter a bit but for this quick test no difference seen here.. Either way it does not seem to harm having it on and where it would matter like maybe a busy scene it would be a benefit that is to be seen..

I may test another game just too see..

VR usually locks to a fixed refresh rate. Depending on where you are as a baseline, you won't see an improvement. That doesn't necessarily mean, that there ain't any.

I saw a 8-month-old YouTube video that the author tested ReBar/Smart Access Memory on/off with the most of the triple A title games for the results.

He mentioned one thing about if the game is not natively supported by Nvidia, then ReBar/Nvidia drive enable may not take the advantage at all.  In other words, ReBar on/off will not make different.

I guess DCS is not natively supported by Nvidia, right?

There is a profile for it, which is called "Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark".

And no, since then and so far, it doesn't seem to make a difference for DCS, or at least not in a meaningful way like it does to other games.

In my case this may be a confirmation bias but I’ve noticed significantly improved loading times…

All Z490 motherboards support Resizable Bar since early 2021, but will require a BIOS update (I'd always suggest most recent version available for the specific motherboard).

Your MSI Z490 Plus have had it since BIOS version 7C98v15 (and there have been other BIOS updates since then): https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z490-PLUS/support

Not sure you're comfortable with a BIOS update procedure but, well, the option is there and having the RBAR feature is worth it (IMO). 🙂

Yeah, I would be comfortable with the process, my concern was whether or not my particular flavor of the  Z490 would support one of those BIOS options since the board seems to be a slightly different version made for the Chinese market.  Since the BIOS does seem to be for 7C98 boards, it is probably fine.  However, I ran into another snag since I also need to update the VBIOS on my ZOTAC RTX3070 and ZOTAC no longer has this board listed on their site, nor the BIOS updates for it.  I found some newer VBIOSes on the Tech PowerUp site, but not 100% sure of compatibility.

Since it doesn't seem like it does much for VR, it probably isn't worth the hassle. That said, my Bios and VBios are Really OLD and there are probably other advantages to updating them!!!

I'm running a ASUS Z490-F motherboard, I need to update the BIOS to get resize bar enabled, but I have been putting it off as I have no issues currently. Not broke dont fix it, and the fear of doing a bios update have me pinned down currently 🙂

I have to re-enable it all the time in Profile Inspector. On my rig (1), it helps a lot with keeping terrain rendering fluid in situations where it moves fast such as looking down from a low flying jet.

My position too.
My motherboard has had a new motherboard bios update for over a year now but system has been working good all the time I have had it.
The itch to update is strong now, I might be missing out on a lot of features in the new bios update.

Decades ago BIOS updates were risky, yes. But these days? Ah well, that’s up to everyone to decide for themselves 🤷‍♀️

I prefer to keep my BIOS up-to-date, as new AGESA versions often contain security updates too to help protect your system against newly discovered root kits.

Oh and re-enabling ReBAR is only needed once per driver installation.
