La-7

Development progress

Hero2.png

OctopusG is in the final stages of development on their La-7, and they have provided an initial build for evaluation prior to full, internal testing. Based on test results, we believe that this eagerly awaited warbird will be available in early 2026. In the meantime, we’re pleased to pass along a more detailed progress report.

All electrical power sources, consumers, and their interactions have been implemented, as well as the emergency landing gear extension and canopy jettison. The pneumatic system is fully implemented, including actuators, brakes, and emergency landing gear extension. The oxygen system now functions in both automatic and manual (emergency) modes above 4 km, along with its related instrumentation. Special attention has been paid to the cockpit mechanical systems.

The La-7 will launch with a detailed damage and failure system that features engine failures due to overheating, flutter, and the impact of structural damage based on allowable G-loads. Damage animations are currently in progress, along with simulation of oil temperate.

The flight manual is in its final stages for both Russian and English versions. It will also launch with an interesting set of several for the USSR, Czechoslovakia, North Korea, and United Kingdom liveries.

A key focus of the team in this final stretch is creation of mission content such as interactive training missions and instant action missions. The La-7 will also be available with the Quick Action Generator.

The La-7 will be an outstanding addition to DCS, and those familiar with the performance of the Spitfire will feel at home. It’s an outstanding fighter in a close-in dogfighting that is a joy to fly.

MiG-29A Fulcrum

Development progress

Hero3.png

The external model is seeing steady improvement with its geometry and textures. Several new liveries are being improved, and new ones are being created; Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and an additional Polish skin. These will be introduced once the external model update is finalized. Maintenance hatches are also being created for parked aircraft.

The HUD projection glass has also received an updated geometry pass to more accurately match real-world contours. Some of these art improvements will be available in the next DCS update. More updates will follow as we push the MiG-29A toward the next major milestone. Stay tuned!

Thank you again for your passion and support,

Yours sincerely,

Just for clarity, the Slovenian AF's most potent fixed-wing combat platform is the PC-9M. It has never operated the MiG-29.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

The LA7 is not a bird that interests me as there is now real theater of war for it DCS, but curios as to why it would get British Skins, did the brits use them in WW2 ?? all my googling said it did not, seems a strange choice to official launch with.

It's nothing new that DCS modules have fictional skins for them. This is probably just another one of them.

Was never used by the brits.

On the other hand, for the LA7 we can use Germany Cold war map, and Kola map (I use it a to make WW2 missions, remove some objects and add smoke and destruction) P47, Spitfire and A20 also can be used as lend lease aircraft, LA7 time frame works with current Axis planes.

For me its way better than PTO, where we are shooting at FW190s painted as Zeros

Would be nice if OctopusG would finish the I-16 instead of releasing the LA7, or at least provide an update. We've been waiting for the radio promised upon introduction of that module for several years now. Seems like abandonware. Kind of hard to give commands to the wingman without a radio in DCS, even if in RL it would have been done using hand signals.

Yes, but 3 to 4 years until ready?

The PTO assets pack with a Zero come first, possibly in early 2026, but yes, there is a module in development, and it will take time, like any module.

Has a T-34 IA from "2025 and Beyond"... but about Aircrafts, ED or 3rd parties has no talking none yet.

Send me a message if there are other things besides radio that you feel are missing and I will chase them up, thanks.
