I'll take the Hawker Hunter please..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I wonder why any 3rd part developers are not working at creating F-16 A or C !!!

At least to hear about plans of it`s developing (Let it be even at LockOn-3 level) would be awesome!

So many years passed, but ED team didn`t create Falcon in LO3. It is much easier than full-clickable aircraft and a lot of players will be attracted and ED will got money for that...

I've given up hope for the Viper now and am looking forward to the Hornet now, even though it wasn't my first choice.

From what I hear the situational awareness and cockpit workflow of the hornet is actually slightly better, even though it's not so impressive when it comes to pulling G's and going fast.

I beg to differ. :)

I concur Blaze. This is an awesome demo of how this baby can turn. Thanks for sharing.

I believe Howie's opinion is a matter of bias, but I cant blame him though. The viper's turning ability is impressive also.

I had already posted it somewhere else, but since we have people who enjoy Deasy's show...

At Waddington as well

At Bodø

It is a different way to film though.

Wrong. F-16C's are stressed to pull 9G in a standard configuration and can push Mach 2. They also have a higher thrust to weight ratio than the F/A-18C (1.095 vs 0.96)

The older C model Hornets will only do 7.5G and Mach 1.8.

Instantaneous and sustained turn performance are dependant on altitude and both are pretty damn comparable.

High AoA, the hornet has the edge by a long way.

I said the Viper is better at pulling G's and going fast.

My opinion is based on facts.

EDIT: Check out this article for a more detailed comparrison (as non-baised as you'll probably get).

Here's a taster....

"To accurately compare the Hornet's performance to the Viper's, I took off from the same runway. The Hornet needed 200 feet more than the Viper to get airborne at about the same speed, and at the end of the runway it had only 330 knots versus the Viper's 500-plus."

"This jet can hurt you because it has absolutely no problem holding 9G, especially down low. The Hornet is limited to 7.5G by the flight-control software, even though the airframe can handle 9G"

I knew as soon as that statement was made, this is where the conversation would head. Never fails.

What can I say... Nothing winds me up like a Hornet fanboy! ;)

I'm a Viper fan myself.. but aren't the Swiss F-18's able to do 9g's? May be a better comparison...

They are. But they have been limited to 7-7.5 in order to improve their lifetime. But I think Howie's argument is that F16s are better at it, because they can hold it longer.

Now people could also argue about endurance and during how long each can fly.

They're both great aircraft. The vanilla hornet has the edge in avionics, slow speed handling and situational awareness. The Viper has the edge in sheer horsepower and high speed performance (less energy bleed).

Then there's the fact the hornet has an extra engine and can land on a boat.

I don't think one is 'better' than the other. I just appreciate their strengths and weaknesses.

Indeed. But the Viper is better though.

This is what you should read first! Century_Series

Minus the dart! No one cares about a plane that had to have 60 updates and improvements to avionics by the time of its end... and was completely proved unreliable lol!!! Plus what is a dart its tiny, and that airframe was HUGE! and Stuooooooooooooooopid!

F-86 Saber would be bad ass too!

How Much interest is there for this!

Gotta love the century series. These things must have looked like space ships when they first flew in the 50's.

I'd love to see DCS Vietnam one day.
