Gun torque

I, as a realist, consider the forces acting on all aspects. One aspect that troubles me, is the torque produced when the gun is discharged. Is it modelled? I am not new to the sim, but no harm in asking inside a dedicated thread. Speaking of which, is that why it is mounted to the left of the nose? Does that mean torque right?

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

You need to put the nose gear somewhere...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

When the GAU-8 fires the recoil is heavy and pushes the plane upwards around its horizontal/Wing axis (nose up!).

The enginous engineers invented PAC to use the "Autopilot" (EAC) to counter this when pulling the trigger.

This came up in http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90438

Does anyone know if an XBOX 360 for Windows controller will work with the PC Version of this game?

If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.

Yes- as long it got recognized by windows and shows up in the controller options of windows - you are able to config it in-game of DCS.

Under Control Panel >> Devices and Printers it comes up as an XBox 360 controller, so I guess that means it's good to go?

Please note that you did not ask 'how well' it would work. ;)

FYI, there is no other version besides the PC version.

PC Version of this game? It is only for PC, MAN!!! :D

And yes, I can confirm for blacksharks 1.0 that I played it during the feudal ages before the big HOTAS I have came in, with an x360 usb controller. Just you are undermining your self for a HOTAS @ same price.

Do you mean recoil or twisting torque along the longitudinal axis caused by the barrels rotating? I believe the motor that spins the barrels spins In the opposite direction the barrels spin, so any twisting torque is essentially cancelled out...(I think...)

The barrels are offset so the barrel actually firing, is on aircraft centerline.

Recoil. There's no twisting motion. I won't make any assumptions as to why since i have no documentation, but i noticed there is no twisting motion, only nose goes up.

I've asked many of our pilots what type of things they deal with when shooting the gun and not once has any pilot mentioned this. They always talk about being able to smell the gun gas after shooting, the vibration the gun produces, but have never mentioned having to compensate for a torque effect.

The gun, although slightly off center, is designed to fire very close to the center line of the ACFT.

Here is what various Tech Orders say about the GAU-8.

· The installation of the gun system is such that it positions the firing barrel approximately on the aircraft centerline.

· Due to gun acceleration characteristics of the "Gatling effect", a short burst will normally hit to the right of the aiming index.

Again, nothing in Tech Orders or other real world training material I have access to mentions a torque issue.

I admit, a little OT , but hey ! this is the "DCS A-10C Questions" thread!

Paul,

can you also ask your jockeys if this nifty manoeuvre is possible?!

I purchased DCS A10C awhile ago when it was still in Beta. I just did a fresh install of it. Question now is how do i get it to show playable with DCS World? I purchased the P51 an DCS World came with the dl for the P51. Do I need to point the A10 install to the DCS World Directory or do I need a patch or somthing? many thanx. P51 shows in list of available aircraft in menus but A10 does not. Sorry an thanx kinda new(still) to Flight Sims.

Game version is 1.1.0.5 do i need all the A10 patch's or can i grab the last? or do i need to get them in order from release version to current?

Thanx I have to let most of these dl's run over nite so the fewer the better, less i have to. Took me 2 full days to re-download the A10
