DTWD Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 http://www.saitek.com/ - Quite a nice site now actually. Back Lit Panel - http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/bip.html New Rudders - http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/compedals.html Fuel Mixture/Throttle etc - http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/tpm.html Sadly the back lit panel and the fuel mixture are still FSX only. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
herr_LaSk Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Hmm, those rudder peddals look pretty nice! BTW its only the back lit panel thats FSX only, the TPM is fully programmable and should be compatible with all flight sims.
metalnwood Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I wanted something with a bit more friction and a bit wider than my ch pedals. Just today I decided not to get a set of saiteks because of the reviews that said it was a bit plasticy/flimsy. Same day these appear. Hmm, I wonder how much and when. I notice there are nox real pictures, just renders.
*Rage* Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Rudder pedals look awesome. Looking for a change after my simpeds. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Eddie Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Rudder pedals look awesome. Looking for a change after my simpeds. Mind if I ask why you're looking at changing from the simpeds? Looking at getting the F16 USBs myself. I do have to say these new saitek pedals look nice, might have to consider them, depending on price.
DTWD Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 Oh yeah good spot, didn't see it was fully programmable. I really don't know why the rest aren't, seems a bit daft. The older saitek pedals are plastic, but I wouldn't call them flimsy, I have had mine for about 2 years and no sign of wear. The issue with them, and this is only an issue if you want this feature, is there is no obvious centre point, in other words you have to "feel" the middle by how your legs are pointing opposed to it have a indent to drop into. I would imagine your looking at about a good few months before the new ones are released, they only have renders up at the moment. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Are you talking about saitek pedals? Mine have detent in the middle. The new combat pedals look less plastic, but the shape of the base is very similar to the current model, so I assume mechanically they are very similar. The new combat pedals look less plastic, but the shape of the base is very similar to the current model, so I assume mechanically they are very similar. The new ones are "di-cast metal" which if it's the same as my "di cast" toys of old is pretty cheap/easy to damage. And yes I am talking about the Saitek pedal, mine don't seem to have an indent...this is curious! Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I do have to say these new saitek pedals look nice, might have to consider them, depending on price. Sure. I had an FSSB R1 cougar with F16C simpeds (the one that plug into the cougar directly). Ive since sold the setup looking to move on to an X65F or Hotas Warthog. I know everyone harps on about the simpeds but frankly I was a little underwhelmed with them especially considering the price. The rudders are very accurate and reliable and self centre very well but the toebrakes are not up to par in my opnion. A bit woolly and imprecise. I also think the angle is too high. For over £200 I expected better. I just couldnt get comfortable with them. The FSSB Cougar on the other hand was magnificent. Felt a little bad initially about selling it (although the throttle was showing its age) but the more I read about the warthog the more im convinced I made the right choice. A bit of googling reveals the combat rudders to msrp at $200. I think HW + Saitek rudders + TIR5 will be an awesome setup! metalnwood Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 The older saitek pedals are plastic, but I wouldn't call them flimsy, I have had mine for about 2 years and no sign of wear. You're probably replying in part to my comment about flimsy. Probably not the best word, I was typing on a phone and trying to keep it brief. I wanted some wider pedals with a bit more friction then the CH ones I had. The saiteks had that but after reading a few things about some stuff that had gone wrong because of the 'lighter' build made me think it wasn't worth the swap. If I didn't already have the CH I would probably choose those. I may swap entirely to the new one depending on what it's finally like.
Rikus Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 The new pedals looks very good. I hope saitek don´t put it very expensive Greetings
71st_Mastiff Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Well I have a pair of saitek pro rudder peds and there not flimsy at all. very rugged and better priced then those X65. I wanted something with a bit more friction and a bit wider than my ch pedals. Just today I decided not to get a set of saiteks because of the reviews that said it was a bit plasticy/flimsy. Same day these appear. Hmm, I wonder how much and when. I notice there are nox real pictures, just renders. HitchHikingFlatlander Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I have to agree with Mastiff my saitek pedals have been great to me, no flimsy weak feeling at all. They're well built and get the job done. I actually may have fried mine the other day when I mixed up the power adapters for my simpit USB Hubs. Nothing to do with the pedals or Saitek though (had mine since 2007). http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
Smoky Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Has anyone tried that Saitek warning display panel? Wondering if a couple of those could be used together for DCS sims, such as the A10 warning light panel. Always worried stuff like this is so FSX-specific that it can't be reused for anything else.
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Most the stuff is FSX specific like: Switch Panel LCDs Not sure about the Warning Panel these do ship with an SDK from what I understand but re-inventing the wheel is probably not that easy. The mixture panel is supposed to work with all sims according to the site. You probably have to look at each product individually to determine if it will work with FSX only or all software in general. The way I see it is that Saitek is really aiming more for a piece of the FSX hardware pie than sim titles in general. If you look at all the high end commercial a/c controls and hardware out there they have a really accessible offering in terms of price. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad

Feed Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 IMHO, Saitek needs to get their act together, particularly with regard to their 'pro flight' lineup. With the exception of the small LCD units, all these add-on panels consist of nothing more than a few switches and lamps, with circuitry no more complicated than your run-of-the-mill gamepad. Charging over $100 for cheap-o little panels is outrageous.
