nicklittle135 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 WHen operating a campaign. It takes for ever to get the A10 started. Then by accident I touched the grass while taxiing. instantly stuck there. Have to quit and restart as there is no recover option.. I know I shouldnt be on the grass.. But as there is no reverse.. I have to quit and restart each time.. any solutions? Cheers
Irregular programming Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Usually you can rev your engines (put them on full speed and then quickly back again when you start moving) to taxi over some of the grass if you happen to go over the sides. Otherwise not going on the grass is probably the most prominent solution. :)

BeachAV8R Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) The next release from Eagle - Digital Combat Simulator: Aircraft Tug Leaked early Beta: Edited February 24, 2011 by BeachAV8R 2
Irregular programming Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The next release from Eagle - Digital Combat Simulator: Aircraft Tug We can glue some fixed wings to it, hang a star spangled banner in the front window, call it an airplane and we are set.
BeachAV8R Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I've given it a test spin already. The accuracy of the driving model is phenomenal. And the sound effects of the tow bar clanging down on the tow clamp has to be heard to be believed. I'm excited that this will lead to a long line of Ground Service vehicles. Personally, I'm hoping the Lav Cart will quickly follow the release of the Tow Vehicle... 1

mvsgas Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Just give Crash recovery a call, I'm sure they will give you a lift...that is cornier than I thought :( :D Staff Sgt. mvsgas Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 D'oh!! While every mishap is unique, the deployed crash recovery team is trained to handle a variety of situations. The crash recovery team is so specialized and dynamic; the only variable in any recovery operation they may have to consider is environmental conditi ons. Here, crash recovery team chief Tech. Sgt. Tim Sabelfeldt begins the critical first step of safely recovering an aircraft so it can be repaired and restored to flying status. The recovery team is deployed here for AEF 8 from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. (Courtesy photo) Tech. Sgt. Sergeant Sabelfeldt and his team of specialists are responsible for ensuring the aircraft is recovered methodically and safely so it can be restored to duty status. The crane is just one of many tools the team must learn to use in any highly technical and complex recovery operation. I was looking down to hit some switches too. WIth the black shark mouse look and select works on the same cross hair.. would make life a lot more simple if that was incoporated in A10. As it is also possible to mouse wheel zoom to the panels without havein 40 fingers to select everything whilst tryingo to fly low level..

Dont rush it once you start rolling normal taxi speed should be about 14. Just slow down and you will be fine. Just remember you wont miss out on any action because the HOg is the action!:pilotfly:

MrYenko Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Here, crash recovery team chief Tech. Sgt. Tim Sabelfeldt begins the critical first step of safely recovering an aircraft so it can be repaired and restored to flying status. The first step being: "Stare at it and wonder what the hell you're going to do, whilst simultaneously cursing the entire extended family of the idiotic ramp rat who backed a $30m jet fighter into the mud." Been there. Had a tug driver shove the upper vertical stab and #2 engine tailcone of one of "my" DC-10s through a hangar wall, because he wasn't paying attention, and thought he was running over a chock... Its funnier now, years later. 1
El_Roto Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 At a museum I worked at, I was spotting the tail of a MiG-15 being backed up to a section of fence. Someone came up and started talking to me. Of course, I completely forgot about my job and made conversation. At the last possible moment I remembered what I was supposed to be doing and halted the tug as the tail of the MiG was just inches from the fence. Another word and I would have been a) looking at a broke jet; and b) looking for another job. Can't remember what we were talking about, either. Mike Busutil Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I remember a story of a F-15 pilot that got impatient cause a larger plane was blocking the taxi way and not in a hurry to move so he decided to turn around and use another taxi way. While doing this he got the nose wheel in the grass, he tried to power through it but he just buried the wheel deeper and ended up getting stuck. After this his call sigh was "Farmer" because he was Plowing the field....
