element1108 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Wow, very impressed. Need to start paying more attention to this.
Pikey Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 After watching that Arma 3 lighting video (very very nice), I just lost 30 mins looking up if underwater guns were real. I'm so naive. I ended up watching a video of a Kentucky family firing range with kids brandishing double M60's and .50 cals. God bless the internet! ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
mmaruda Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 If you are still interested, there was a movie on YT comparing the M4 to the HK416 in terms of firing right after submerged in water. The M4 brakes, but the HK fires ok, so I guess it is possible.

Especially about the range he killed the OPFOR soldier from underwater. But maybe because its some kind of prototype weapon its possible to actually fire it from that far. They said all the future weapons and such are based on true weapon systems. I'm in no way a weapon expert... but shooting somebody from almost 30m underwater seems far fetched. (i read something about a gun that could reach 20 meters. In the below videothe ar15 bullet does not even reach its target thats like 5 meters away. And than you have the Russian Underwater APS Assault rifle that is only effective for a cople 10's of meters. http://world.guns.ru/assault/rus/aps-underwater-e.html Edited May 25, 2012 by winchesterdelta1 Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Grimes Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 They better make it so when you die in the water you take control of a shark. I'm totally going to watch Thunderball in the week leading up to this games release. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Impact Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Including sub marine operations you could make some awesome missions. Maybe a few stealth missions like in OFP... ------=:: I FLY BLEIFREI ::=------
Total Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 As far as underwater weapons with a degree of accuracy, there's the Russian APS. That's what looks like the character is using in the lighting video:
Sceptre Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 (edited) God, I can't wait for this! I assume that it will come out on August 15th..... give or take 14 days:P On my ArmA 2 CO disc box it says "ETA summer 2012" but its the middle of winter in my country right now, lol:D If anyone is worried about that Mi-28/Ka-50 helicopter thing, it is a fictional helicopter called the Mi-48 Kajman! Grimes Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Didn't feel like reviving the old Arma 2 thread.... but they are making a Army of the Czech Republic DLC pack for ARMA 2. It seems kind of odd that they are making a DLC pack when a whole sequel isn't that far off. It makes me wonder if they are gonna let content from Arma 2 get imported into Arma 3. http://www.arma2.com/latest-news/arma-2-army-of-the-czech-republic-dlc-project-announcement_en.html Can't wait to see what they show off at E3. It would be better if they will focus on catching of bugs and creating of original and interesting story in campaign. As for the DLCs - it's a fun community's job. Let funs make Army of Czech Republic, and Ukrainan marines, and Stormtrooper, and others - they still do it better. Edited June 6, 2012 by luch4 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Eight Ball Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Just saw this on Armaholic : I am not sure this was already discussed in the open somewhere but there is one massive change being done under the hood of Arma 3: migration from PhysX 2.x to PhysX 3..X. This may sound trivial but in reality it is basically switching to completely new physical simulation system with all consequences (a lot of work lost, delay of the entire development schedule). But we decided to make this transition, otherwise Arma 3 would be locked to PhysX 2.x for long time. It was basically now or never for the game... The transition phase is on-going and neither PhysX 2 nor PX 3 branch are really tuned or polished at the moment. Also, physical libraries only do part of what is needed and in no way guarantee that everything is going to react as it should: a lot of work on simulation, tweaking, testing, tweaking, AI routines, tweaking, fixing, testing is required with any type of physical simulation and in case of game this complex it really takes a lot of time and effort. Krunkskimo Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 the physix change gives me a little optomisim but i'm more interested in whether all the arma2 bugs ported over have been worked out or not.
kyletiernan Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 the physix change gives me a little optomisim but i'm more interested in whether all the arma2 bugs ported over have been worked out or not. Honestly I think Operation Arrowhead is much better, alot less bugs and it looks and runs better. The new patch 1.60 is amazing. Ive put about 80 hours just into multiplayer, its really immersive. Bucic Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I reaaaaaally don't like to be waiting for years for a basic thing to be fixed/implemented. Too bad it will be the case again with the grass issues in ArmA http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?133738-AI-Improvement&p=2202253&viewfull=1#post2202253 F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
