SkateZilla Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I don't think, it has been mentionned somewehre, but as EDGE is a new graphic engine, is it possible to make it working on the 2 core (with sound), for DCS to start to become a multicore sim DCS is Already Multi-Core, Sound is Already on it's own Core. To touch on what skatezilla mentions, as ED develops DCS they are working on ways to improve the use of multiple cores/threads. I imagine they will have more multi-core usage when Edge is released. Just like they are not rolling out a complete dynamic campaign in "one go." They are slowly adding elements that will make a dynamic campaign a reality. I simply think there was no update since ages, IF they were actively developing EDGE, i would bet in 1 year they made some progress they would be eager to share, i do not see that AT ALL. So they cant focus only on EDGE, I am pretty sure that they have a sort of Priority list what they are finishing first and what later, so all we can do is being patient...besides of this, there isn't any other opportunity left anyways. Simple searches tell you all you need. EDGE is a new engine and terrain needs to be created for it starting with Nevada. That is why the current map will not automatically be using the benefits. Specifics such as self shadowing terrain, accurate terrain textures from satellite imagery, incorporation of normal map in airfields, and other items like number of cores, object count, texture size, draw distance, etc can not be answered at this time. Most games are not publicly announced until well into years of development. In fact, most sequels to games are started months after the first is shipped but we the public never hear anything official for sometimes up to 2-3 years. We are lucky ED tells us their their rough roadplan and EDGE was mentioned while in its infancy. How is this any different than a company like Bungie, except that we have been told upfront what the idea roadplan is. Bungie has been working on Destiny for several years and just recently been announced. You cannot compare to Bungie, i am sorry, but this is a massive difference, the future is comunity awareness as long as you are not a huge baloon filled with money. (with failed i ment issues like the newest beloved smoke fps drop, matters that could be called VERY important, as it crippled weapons and this game infact is about weapons)

Not everything can be dealt with. 1.2.3 was delayed for a while to deal with MP bugs, and such things will probably happen again as new features are added. By the way, money issues etc. these guys got a awesome product here, make people aware what you plan to come and keep it updated, theres enought money running around out there wanting to get invested. But those who know about it jump on those people for being wrong and making assumptions. Since it has been announced at some point, why are there no progress announcements made? It would be as easy as "Hey guys, here is where "EDGE" currently is with progress and a few screen shots. We hope to have it ready in the next 6 months. Thanks" Seem's like the best way to keep the people from arguing and assuming.... They had a full beta on their last product Reign of Thunder when it got announced before they were acquired. Eagle has about 50 employees last it was mentioned. Better company comparison?
