Mountains have great tiny fog or whatever that is :)

seems to me like its the view distance fog creeping up, as you can see the mountains behind it are even more "foggy", probably wrong though.

This is the closest thing I can find to indicate that this is related to EDGE.

How is it relevant for this discussion? You mean this sentence?

Other parts are generated by an all-new bleeding-edge graphics engine.

Use of the word edge in a sentence is hardly link at to the "EDGE" engine being developed by ED.

It is if the tinfoil is tuned correctly. :P

That one we know about. It was discussed to death a thousand, or so, posts ago.

I agree with youabout the performance and stability, of course!

...BUT, men, I continue to read "edge" as something beauty and special... or I am blind or I think that somebody here never saw or never tried what means to fly with REX or ORBX in other simulators... it is something unbelievable, and they run on a very old simulator as graphic engine (fsx)..

Now, i continue to read here compliments every time that one screenshot arrives: again, are you blind or what?!

I fly with lockon/dcs since years, and ok, I like it BUT we cann't continue to excuse and close our eyes in front of so strong evidences:

- the graphic is simply old, like to see some game from the 1999.. structures, lighits, particulars, models, trees, lands, grass and so on, are simply terrible, totally not realistic.. it is sad, but it is just true.

- the sounds are simply robotic, like to play with f/a 18 interceptor twenty years ago.. i would expect much much much more quality as realistic sounds in the 2014. there is the technology, there are many examples of games and simulators with thousands of times better as realistic sounds.. how long we have to wait for this essential implementation?!

a good example is when i listen jet sounds from external camera..is should be realistic sound ?! come on..

- the sky, clouds, and weather system.. again, I must repeat myself but It is not my fault if develepers don't understand this central aspect.

Other simulator have spectacular systems for to simulate weather, clouds and so on.. why it is so complicated to implement this ?

So, I arrive to the end of my unconfortable opinion here about edge asking myself first, but especially to developpers, when and why still not they didn't permit to products like rex, orbx, gex and so on to be on DCS worlds... they could give surely and immediately a strong spin to up! smile.gif

As customer of DCS products (I have most of modules), there are years and years that I am hoping for this implementation.. but still nothing..

So, how will be sounds and graphic on EDGE engine? I am very afraid to see again the same totally old ridicolous low poor quality.

I am sorry if i have been so direct and critic, but I wish a good dcs product for the future instead to have paid so much money for to use a very old simulator..

Nevada screenshots, show only poor graphic.. nothing revolutionary or special as in the 2014 i would expect as customer.. imho..

cheers..

Totally agree

Agreed. The graphics in EDGE so far look like Unreal Tournament 1 ( actually less ). You HAVE to get better than that. There are engines now that can literally model the whole earth that have better terrain and lighting than EDGE. You can go on and on about how you have made the most realistic flight sim there is with the most advanced AFM that will burn up all the CPU's and GPU's. But without a world to fly it in, it isn't worth much. The people on here who don't care about the world are pure flight sim enthusiasts. These are the ones who like flying an hour to the target zone. These people will deny this, but we majority players don't like a flight of more than 5 to 10 minutes. We just need those few minutes to setup and get our bearings. Were more into the combat. And for this, we need FPS and a WORLD. To tell you the truth, I like the AFM, but how much farther can you go before you start losing all the majority? The people who would be satisfied with something just a little better than SFM? By going higher and higher with all the AFM, and not working on the world, your only pleasing the 40 or so fanboys who prowl this forum. As these other great engines which are FAR superior in graphics and lighting start implementing flight sim, your going to lose the majority of people who have bought your game. Even Star Citizen is going to pull a lot of players away.

I'll say Beczl sure knows what he's doing. That has to be the most beautiful Mig-21 cockpit I have ever seen. Now think about how that is going to contrast to the 1990 era UT1 world (EDGE) below. You've put everything into your flight sim, but ignored the world, and seem to still be ignoring it. This is not going to get you sales. I and many others are constantly looking for a better flight sim / fps. One guy is now working on clickable cockpits and realistic systems (Maverick, CCRP, CCIP ) in Arma 3 and that is definitely going to compete with you in the mainstream. This is the future. People want a realistic world below them.

Have you actually seen pictures of UT1?

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Played it to death in the mod Infiltration. I've already compared pics of EDGE to UT1. Looks like the same lighting, same simple graphics, same textures.

Sorry but that is preposterous.
