Phantom_Mark Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 wow, those screens look mighty impressive. Can I ask, and I sincerely hope I do not repeat a question; Will we finally be able to collide with the trees in Edge ?? and how are trees and other things like hedges handled in Edge compared to what we have now ?

That's not known yet, as they said, this is very early in. They need to see how performance is. I am sure its possible, but might not be viable if the performance hits are too great if that makes sense. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

shagrat Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Well, I just finished reading through numerous pages of negative rant about how shitty EDGE will be. Most if not all, by people who are neither in the development team, nor ever laid hands on it. I assume they don't know f...k about what EDGE can/will/might/supposedly/maybe is or can provide, look like as a finished product etc. What I did realize reading all this wild guessing, was why ED stopped communicating news to the "community" some years ago. Is so reluctant to show ANY work in progress or make any statements about product status... YOU,dear fellow forum members, who can't take a simple WIP picture as what it is are the reason! Sorry if I offended anyone, but I can't understand why people try so hard to convince ED to go back to the drawing board and start "fixing" EDGE the next years, rather than release a beta and get us involved. Because that is what I would do if I read all this "not real", "still unrealistic horizon", "clouds look crap" and so on and so on... remon Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Right, so DCS 2 hasn't even been SEEN yet and you are asking about support for drivers that were just released by Nividia in the last few weeks? Seriously? No, I am quite certain that last week released technology that hasn't made it to the masses is NOT supported at this time... GOOD GOD PEOPLE It's not support for drivers. Downsampling isn't something new that Nvidia made up just now. The Arma series supports it in their graphic options menu, as you can choose to render in a higher resolution than your screen, Battlefield 4 does too, the Witcher has it as ubersampling, and a few other games. Since people in the DSR thread in the PC Hardware and Related Software forum are reporting that it raises the distance you can spot planes, he's just asking if they can put an option like this in the game.
shagrat Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Why not use DSR in the NVIDIA panel? If ED would integrate such an option, they would need to test it for a few months to make sure it doesn't break anything. If it won't work with ATI cards or some of the rigs everybody would start ranting at ED again... I don't find it too hard to flip a setting in the driver... GeorgeLKMT Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Why not use DSR in the NVIDIA panel? I don't find it too hard to flip a setting in the driver... I think he's talking about supersampling (that's the correct term here). ;) That's a little bit different and main advantage is that the GUI elements won't scale like with downsampling. Flagrum Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I've always wondered if 2.0 will allow your pilot to swim after ejecting over water... I'm so tired of drowning in puddles :\ Would make a lot of sense - considering we all will be flying a lot more over water in the future! :o)

rcjonessnp175 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 my reasoning for asking that question was simply like others have stated, if its within the game engine aka similiar to Arma 3 then the ui will not turn to itty bitty size when running in 4k DSR. And yes makes a huge difference in spotting aircraft and ground vehicles. Not whinning or complaining, just a legitimate tech question, as it has made many dcs users happy, DSR that is http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/dynamic-super-resolution-instantly-improves-your-games-with-4k-quality-graphics I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. As I said, Downsampling (DSR in essence) isn't something that Nvidia invented. It is the earlier form of anti aliasing, not used widely since MSAA was invented. Nvidia supports it, AMD supports it, and they do so since they started making gpus. All the games I mentioned support it without compatibility problems.

Flagrum Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) New map image... little bigger than first mentioned I think... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2216669&postcount=2 Niiiiiice. I think, Wags said earlier something about 350 x 350 (or was it 390?) km and Nellis was at the lower right and Groom Lake at the top left corner. Now at that image says something about 330 ... nm! And that would actually fit. That is a really NICE surprise ... that is ... dunno, I can't math atm lol, that is about 3+ times LARGER than promised! Thanks, ED! edit: Yes, perhaps - probably - the additional space is not as detailed modelled as the original part, but I bet, some jet jockeys will be really happy about it. Edited October 29, 2014 by Flagrum
ED Team NineLine Posted October 29, 2014 ED Team Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Also note that this is the detailed area, there will be extra space at edges like the current map (flat and devoid of detail), how much and how it works is still unknown (least to me) at this time... but that will add a little more rooms as well.
