If EDGE is running on my machine, for Christmas, but the new map looks like the 9th circle of hell, I can live with that. :D

Unless it boosts the performance considerably and other maps are still no where to be seen, I'll pass on the NTTR map anyway... EDGE is the one I am looking forward to.

Wasn't it December 2013 that edge was running a little late and wouldn't make it for that month? That was a year ago now, so I'm hoping this isn't like that movie Groundhog Day. I got the impression from the last news letter that it was already setting use up for some bad news to come in December 2014 though.

Big difference, a year ago Nevade wasn't ported into DCS World. It has now been introduced and going through testing based on Wags pictures/posts. Big step forward compared to a year ago.

EDGE was nearly there in 12/2012, then again 12/2013. We will see what happens this year. I do think we will add 12/2014 to the list; but that's just me ;)

not for us customers though. while they certainly made progress during the past years, its true that we heard "its almost ready,we hope to release it before the end of the year" not the first time...

 

im looking forward to the newsletter on 3rd december though, and whether its delayed again or not, once we, the customers, have it installed, im sure it will be a great day.

In those instances it wasn't in the hands of the closed beta testers which now it is. Also now is the first time you have actually seen screens of Nevada from within EDGE.

yeah sure thats what i was saying...still for us non testers this isnt really worth a dime unfortunately.as i said, im really looking forward to the day it is installed on my non-testers machine.thats what counts for me.whether it is this year or next i dont care at this point.i just know it will be a great day.

He's not dismissing the fact that progress/release is closer this December than they were the last two, he's merely bringing up the fact that customers were told it was "nearly ready for release by year end" in both 2012 and 2013. Everyone knows it's closer now than ever; but you could've said the same thing in 2013...that things were much closer than in 2012. Point is, many of these guys and gals have been to this dance (i.e. year end release) twice and went home alone both times...they have legitimate reason to be concerned it might happen to them again. Everyone, including yourself and ED I'm sure, has their fingers crossed it releases this December, but until it does, the folks here have plenty of basis for having doubts.

It's slightly dismissive based on the fact that this year you are seeing screenshots of ED modules flying in EDGE/NTTR... that is well beyond the previous year... saying you dont have more hope of an imminent release based on the evidence you have now compared to previous years is dismissive ;)

Not even worth having the discussion, DR :thumbup: ...they are reading negative undertones into things that are said and then projecting it into the few upbeat poster's (like yourself) comments. At this point they've seen so much negativity that they are probably just trained to read posts as complaints...can't really blame them for that, though, with how 90% of this community acts. What you said was accurate and spot on (I took it as both positive and realistic), regardless of how they read it.

yeah sure, if quoted only that part of the post, it sounds not too optimisitic.

 

but with that i wasnt trying to be dismissive but just pointing out that with the current update policy coupled with NDA(what a lovely word) for us normal customers the fact that ED testers are having edge versions of dcs installed makes zero difference to our current installation....and in the end thats what im interested in.

now of course, if the ED testers were allowed to share more information about things like system requirements, or how edge is improving in visual aspects or performance or etc....then there would be some value to it for us.

nevertheless i appreciate the fact that its now closer than it ever was and i appreciate every single screenshot and every single snippet of new information.

 

also, i am looking forward to the newsletter on 3rd december, and sure i hope its good news.but if the news is that its delayed and not finished within 2014,then i will not go nuts.we are used to it, and for now EDGE is just not yet existing for us customers. i am getting excited again once we have a release day announcement.

 

just waiting here, enjoying the torturing screenshots, which all look awesome btw.

Hope it releases but the screen shots indicate it's still work in progress which is good in a sense. Tells me they are perfectionists on this baby so that's a big plus for us. I just hope the announcement says hey we are going to release it open beta and get the customer base involved in the last bit of bug and performance tracking :)
