upupandaway Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Hm... I don't recall this info about Nevada map being actually completed either... I don't think so! This is brand new information that Nevada Map itself is finished (which is fantastic). I thought so, too. jctrnacty Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) I was so kind to summarize what wags said in one sentence: One more year. Well when we realize that they are working on so many things at once (patches, dedicated server, EDGE) then i think you are right. Sometimes i say to myself that less is more and its better to make things one after another. My thoughts as well. Typically the Official Updates in the news section is where the awaited info comes from. This was the last post and that was in May, but like everyone else I welcome the update. It hasn't been expressed in those exact words, but it has been (repeatedly) stated that the holdup is development of EDGE. People just never internalised what that actually means. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
alexiao73 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 As has been stated several times before, the map itself is almost done. The long delay is due to development of a new rendering engine that is capable of rending the this map and its very high level of detail at acceptable frame rates. Developing a new rendering engine is a very long and complex matter. There have also been some delays due to some changes in staffing and the team having to work on some other projects in parallel. When there is new news, there will be an announcement. At this time, given the work on the engine, it is not even possible to run the map to take screen shots. Wags, thanks for the quick response and update! I'm very looking forward to have the map released, though I'm confident that it won't be so soon ("it is not even possible to run the map to take screen shots"):cry::cry: System: i5 10600k @4.80Ghz - MSI Z490 Tomahawk- MSI GTX 1080ti 11Gb, 32 Gb Ram Corsair Vengaence PC-ddr4 3200 MHz - LG 32” 1440p - Saitek X52 + CH Pro Pedals - TrackIR 5 - Win10 Pro-64bit :smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

NRG-Vampire Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 NRG-Vampire, is the picture below you? yes i am :D yes it is a conspiracy i agree but this is reasonable with common sense do you know how much tv i am watch in a month? zero! TV is the biggest conspiracy and brainwashing :D what is fact: pentagon bought mi-17 for the afghan military from russia and train afghan pilots with american, italian, hungarian mentors. no secret. what do you think why was mi-17 sim over nevada video deleted so qiuckly? besause nevada is done few years ago already. mi-8, mi-17, mi-24, mi-28, ka-52 sims same. so i can write again this not a game and not for us. if you go to MAKS you will see. you can watch a similar video from MAKS http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-08/pentagon-defends-buying-from-russia-trader-aiding-assad.html http://en.rian.ru/world/20120614/174025983.html Russia traditionally (from the USSR times) has paranoid secrecy in everything military. Moreover, recently a draconian anti-spy law was adopted (more likely to suppress the opposition, but still) which makes you to be VERY careful in everything involving military and foreigners if you don't want to end up in jail.

Heli Shed Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) what is fact: pentagon bought mi-17 for the afghan military from russia and train afghan pilots with american, italian, hungarian mentors. no secret. Incorrect. It was the 37 Country NATO coalition that bought the Mi-17's and Mi-24's for the AAF not the Pentagon. The funding came from the NTF - NATO Trust Fund of which the 'major' contributor is indeed the US, but certainly not the sole. Currently totaling at a little over 5000 in the AAF (Which comes under the ANA a little like an Air Corps than an Air Force - Name is being changed), there is more of a persuasion to look toward LAP's now rather than exclusivly rotary. The Mi's were brought from Czeckslovakia not Russia and were immediatly grounded upon arrival in theatre as their 'air worthyness' state did not meet western standards. Apart from a few (classified) Mi-24's and Mi-17's, the whole fleet is currently grounded. The general feeling is that we'll see C-130J's flying around before we see the complete Rotary Wing up n running. There are also other factors that hinder the readyness of the Mi Fleet, namely language being the main - The prospected pilot in training needs to be able to speak 4 languages - Dari, Pashtun, English and Russian. With an illiterate stat of 90% of the country, you can see that getting the right quality for Westernised styles of training is an uphill challenge and one that will become easier over time. 'T' I guess you could forgive him his mistake when Blooberg quotes the Pentagon Undersecretary for Policy James Miller (in a previously undisclosed March 30 letter to a lawmaker opposed to the deal.) as saying : .Pentagon Defends Buying From Russia Trader Aiding Assad The Pentagon says it’s in a bind, with nowhere to turn for helicopters needed by Afghanistan’s air force except Russia, a top arms supplier to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. . . . The Army has taken delivery of nine of the helicopters for Afghanistan, with six more awaiting shipment and another six to be delivered by May 31. The U.S. has an option to buy an additional 12 Russian helicopters for the Afghans, who have been flying them for decades. Saying it's NATO not the US is a very politically obliging read of the circumstances. reposting his url http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-08/pentagon-defends-buying-from-russia-trader-aiding-assad.html Edited November 27, 2012 by Weta43 Cheers.
