Well when we realize that they are working on so many things at once (patches, dedicated server, EDGE) then i think you are right.

 

Sometimes i say to myself that less is more and its better to make things one after another.

My thoughts as well. Typically the Official Updates in the news section is where the awaited info comes from. This was the last post and that was in May, but like everyone else I welcome the update.

It hasn't been expressed in those exact words, but it has been (repeatedly) stated that the holdup is development of EDGE. People just never internalised what that actually means. ;)

As has been stated several times before, the map itself is almost done. The long delay is due to development of a new rendering engine that is capable of rending the this map and its very high level of detail at acceptable frame rates. Developing a new rendering engine is a very long and complex matter. There have also been some delays due to some changes in staffing and the team having to work on some other projects in parallel. When there is new news, there will be an announcement. At this time, given the work on the engine, it is not even possible to run the map to take screen shots.

 

Wags, thanks for the quick response and update! I'm very looking forward to have the map released, though I'm confident that it won't be so soon ("it is not even possible to run the map to take screen shots") :cry::cry::cry:

what do you think why we not get new maps? why beslan and mozdok in low details? why crimea deleted? why no new detailed models, cockpits, systems, sceneries?

we got a-10c many years later than us air force. this will happen with nevada also. us airforce already use it. so it is not depend of the new edge engine

I agree only in part... I don't think us airforce were waiting for nevada map from DCS... and googleearth maps of Nellis AFB are of june 2012 if you want to study the area in detail.

Russia traditionally (from the USSR times) has paranoid secrecy in everything military.

Well, that I can confirm. I´ve been to Nevada in 2009, and even visited Nellis AFB. Everything I saw looked pretty much done. Oh, and the level of detail was just mindblowing!

Incorrect.

 

It was the 37 Country NATO coalition that bought the Mi-17's and Mi-24's for the AAF not the Pentagon. The funding came from the NTF - NATO Trust Fund of which the 'major' contributor is indeed the US, but certainly not the sole. Currently totaling at a little over 5000 in the AAF (Which comes under the ANA a little like an Air Corps than an Air Force - Name is being changed), there is more of a persuasion to look toward LAP's now rather than exclusivly rotary. The Mi's were brought from Czeckslovakia not Russia and were immediatly grounded upon arrival in theatre as their 'air worthyness' state did not meet western standards. Apart from a few (classified) Mi-24's and Mi-17's, the whole fleet is currently grounded. The general feeling is that we'll see C-130J's flying around before we see the complete Rotary Wing up n running. There are also other factors that hinder the readyness of the Mi Fleet, namely language being the main - The prospected pilot in training needs to be able to speak 4 languages - Dari, Pashtun, English and Russian. With an illiterate stat of 90% of the country, you can see that getting the right quality for Westernised styles of training is an uphill challenge and one that will become easier over time.

Not at all! Even with 20+ aircraft in the air, everything was smooth as silk. The only problem is the weather engine however, all it can do is cloudless skies and blistering heat. :D

I guess you could forgive him his mistake when Blooberg quotes the Pentagon Undersecretary for Policy James Miller (in a previously undisclosed March 30 letter to a lawmaker opposed to the deal.) as saying :
