Nice post!

a couple of things.

Shouldn't motor rifle battalions APC/IFV have BRDM-2 instead of BMP-2/3 in their recon platoon?

the Anti tank platoon of a Motor Rifle Battalion had 2 squads of 2x Fagot/Metis ATGM launchers each, so it makes more sense to replace the RPG dudes with 4 BTR-RD (which is an ATGM carrier)

the Air defence Battalion (Soviet Air Defense Battalion SA13)

Should have 2 platoons of 4 anti-air vehicles, not 2 platoons of 6 vehicles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZSU-23-4#Deployment - See deployment section

In the 1970s, Soviet motor rifle and tank regiments were equipped with an anti-aircraft missile artillery battery consisting of two platoons, one equipped with four ZSU-23-4 SPAAGs and the other with four 9K31 Strela-1 (SA-9 Gaskin) or later with four 9K35 Strela-10 (SA-13 Gopher)

It should go into your Saved Games\DCS\Mission Editor folder, not the DCS World installation directory.

Eddie,

On my machine I have the following in my C:\users\name\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor\

Weather (Folder)

gdoptions,v2,lua

layers.lua

logbook.lua

news.lua

temp_options.lua

unitPayloads.lua

Te only place I find templates.lua file is in the above listed location. I have it installed and it seems to be working fine. My next question is... is my install gorked up and do I risk problems or whut?

It seems to be working OK...

You should be fine. As always, back up your original templates.lua to be sure.

BTW, I have confirmed that there is no difference between the 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 default versions of templates.lua, so this is still 100% compatible.

Then you haven't made any custom templates yet. As soon as you do, the file will be created. Or you can just add Stuka's file to that location. No need to mess with your installation.

Wow, thanks for bumping this thread as I missed it before. This is cool! Unfortunately for me, I don't know what a lot of the templates are including solely based on the name due to my military ignorance. So I just made this little pdf to have on one of my other screens for reference when I am making/editing a mission:

Hope someone else finds it useful.

lol nice to see I bumped this :D Also I found how to easily make the templates avaliable for other countries. For Example The Russians SSA3B to a Abkhazian SSA4b. If you are intrested I could explain

'Shadow'

Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days

In the download is a PDF showing more or less exactly the same as yours ;)

:shocking: Wish I had spotted that before I spent all that time copying and pasting from the initial post... No, I don't feel stupid at all... really... nothing to see here... :pilotfly:
