Really is a steal!

That is a really sweet deal for both a new and decent game. I paid the full Steam price but I have no complaints...aside from the fact that I suck.:D

Really enjoying this game, great fun. Forgive me for asking, but does anyone know the ins and outs of how units carry over from mission to mission? For instance, if I go back and play a mission that I have already completed again and do better than I did the first time, do I then get extra units for the following mission, even if I have completed that also? What happens if I complete a mission again that I have already completed with less units surviving than I did the first time?

Yeah you do, if they level up and they survive you get to keep them from mission to mission. You will then be able to call in higher ranked versions of the unit.

Definitely a great game, A lot like WiC to me. I really really suck at it but it's still addicting somehow lol.

It's too shame about this game that you don't get to spend too much time in zoomed mode because the graphics are not too bad. Maybe the units themselves could have been more detailed. And features like morale of units, terrain influence and of course the huge terrain and "seamless" zoom ability makes it better then world in conflict.

i`d say its more the restriction on camera tilt angle that leaves us playing in sattelite view often, but i do pop down close alot.

morale is featured. units routing etc etc.I believe the basis of the morale is pretty unique really quite deep in terms of its functionality and it ensures unit supporting roles are part of the strategy equation. The situation will dictate just how scared your troops get. also the morale system was re worked in the last patch.

another patch due this week to fix a few bugs that crept in to last weeks patch and DLC regards how supply functions. and thats another area like the morale system that is quite hard to get your head round and also leads to the appearance of simplicity when in fact the systems they have modelled far deeper than in most real time strategy games and unfortunatly just not appearing so

Im enjoying this game, one of the rounds early on giving points for finishing quick which isnt my style, tonight just finished a 2 hour round, ran out of tanks and fuel but managed to secure the primary and secondaries.

So far I am enjying this!

For what its worth (FA) I recommend it.

If it was a campaign mission, you're pretty much screwed later on if you loose to much vital units.

Yeah I didnt realise they carried over until just reading the threads above. Luckily the last mission on the campaign was defend the bridge and i managed to do it with very limited resources!

I think there is more SP scope for this, I dont think I will go in for the MP because I like long games, build a defense and then probe forward and back drawing them onto me to weaken them. I recon some user defined missions could be good, at least a level editor or something.

On the campaign where you have to take the Airfield, one of the towns had heaps of German Troops hidden in it, they wiped out tanks, APCs, 4 para units and 4 Jaagen?? troop units, before I leveled it with Arty. I still havnt sussed the best way to defeat the e german anti tank infantry, they take a few tanks and scimitars out!

Great game this, nice era of combat too.

Wargame: AirLand Battle, is unveiled for the first time in this teaser video ! Planned for released for 2013, Wargame: AirLand Battle will bring the series to a brand new dimension. Today's video gives a glimpse of the spectacular new features to come!

Just like its predecessor, Wagame: AirLand Battle takes players through a series of conflicts commanding NATO and Warsaw Pact troops between 1975 & 1985 at a turning point of the Cold War. In this episode, war rages in Northern Europe, notably Scandinavia, whose architecture and magnificent landscapes are faithfully recreated in the game. Wargame: AirLand Battle allows players to command all military resources of the Cold War era from tanks to planes. A total of 150 planes strengthen the playable arsenal of the game, from fighters to bombers to electronic warfare planes. Four new nations and their vehicles join the original eight from the first installment, making a total of over 750 vehicles and combat units rendered in realistic detail! Wargame: AirLand Battle also brings authenticity to the next level thanks to a new weapons system, better handling of fire effects, and a new Urban Combat Interface (UCI) allowing for battle inside cities.

The solo campaign is composed of several new dynamic campaigns, during which players manage all aspects of battle by leading each squad of the Theater of Operation and making good use of reinforcements and strategic support. Wargame: AirLand Battle still allows customization of armies in solo and multiplayer modes thanks to the 'Deck' system, which is now being enhanced with an integrated 'viewer'. Ultimately, each decision made will have an impact on the tactical outcome of battles and evolution of the global conflict! Prepare to re-enter the Cold War in 2013!

I find the following game mod fun: destruction / start min (1500 pt) win min (1000 pt.). Like this you get short skirmishes where really each unit counts. I don't like the conquest mod so much because it leaves to much freespace for unrealistic tactics (bunny hopping around the map). I play like this with AI, checked yesterday and there were not so many servers online.

Edit: PS: after the last patch BMP's are the new black.. if you know what I mean
