Crashing on connect to Master Server

Would be nice if we could get an official word from ED on this. A 10-page thread with a consistent problem from users and beta testers with not a peep from the development group? Sorry to say that's a customer service problem, not just a software problem. :( Expectations of ED are usually too high, but this is not that case.

He HE..Slayer.. This is Tuesday morning on the west coast. CTD everytime I tried to connect to the server..Nice try on the vodoo aproach..

 

I personally like hopping up and down on one foot while holding a lucky rabbit...:thumbup:

 

Again I am not making this up don't knock it unless you try it.

 

Tonight I sat down to try some multiplayer and again CTD on connect to masterserver. Tried 3 times CTD all 3 trys. Started single player picked an instant mission, started it and exit. Join multiplayer and now no CTD. It is not a coincidence nor luck and it is proven again and again.

 

I suspect an issue with the copy protection and or masterserver. Single player DOES use online to verify the key so this may be the smoking gun.

 

Edit: Next time I'll take a video of it on my phone and post it on youtube...

I know its frustrating. Wags has already stated elsewhere that they are very aware of this problem and they are working on it. They will post something when they have more information.

The same as what everyone else posting on this thread is looking to achieve. To draw attention to a problem that is causing unrest among longtime ED supporters. Apparently it is working.

It seems to be track ir related as I get a ctd when I try to log in every time but when I don't start track ir I can connect, bu what is odd..no settings changed or anything it has Kay started to happen

We're all having the problem, we're asking ED to fix it. You would think with 11+ pages on one thread and multiple other ones elsewhere we would hear something about "this is getting fixed".

The thread where I brought it to there attention, and then got locked because it was a rant... so we must be carefull... they are aware of the problem but they must have more pressing issues... basicly you answer is in the link above. Nothing else we can do but wait for them to fix it.

The point is that ED have confirmed work going into fixing of this issue several times now. Repeated rants do absolutely nothing to further a timely solution.

I never said stop moaning. I said to watch how one conducts oneself whilst moaning. There is a difference between whining and complaining - Complaining is infinitely preferable on the constitution.

I did try starting an instant mission and then connecting but that didn't work. Also tried changing network speed to 56k and then connecting but no joy.

Interesting tidbit ... sometimes, when this bug occurs, it changes your stored password--e.g. if your password is "jabberwocky," it usually shows up as "***********" (11 digits) if you select the save password option. But after the master server connection crash, sometimes it will have a different number of digits, and you must re-enter the correct password. So, some people may be unable to connect ever if they do not notice this, even when the master server is functioning correctly.
