Yurgon Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Wow, I'm just out of the virtual pit after 3 1/2 hours of MP fun (2*Gazelle, 2*Huey, 1*Ka-50). This chopper rocks, awesome job, guys! Has this been posted before: Thanks for sharing, it's new to me. Fascinating how much it deviates from the in-game training, but it's obviously a different version of the chopper.
docbrick Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Love the Gazelle. Way different from the Huey, but in a great way. Will take a little bit more getting used to, but its EXTREMELY well done. Had a great time playing tonight. Thanks Polychop!
flo57100 Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Thanks for your amazing gazelle Polyshop ! Chapeau bas !
msalama Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 WE-HEY! First takeoff and landing done. Got her up & down in one piece, although she _is_ a lively mademoiselle it has to be said. Merci beaucoup, Messrs. Polychop, I know I'm gonna fall in love with her :D The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Yurgon Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Seems so much more stable to fly in 1.5 beta. Has the update not hit 2 alpha yet? Nope. Though personally she feels exactly the same in 1.5 to me, I couldn't spot much of a difference.
Pat01 Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Note for people using the 1.5.3 openbeta french version The Gazelle 1.5.3 openbeta version has been made available with an error regarding the french campaign missions names, ONLY FOR THE FRENCH VERSION The files should be named CMPGaz3VF.miz instead of CMPGaz3VFR.miz (for example) The fix should be to rename all french campaign missions to VF instead of VFR then the campaign will work, while waiting the next update. We are really sorry for the inconvenience. 1
FastForward Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Seems so much more stable to fly in 1.5 beta. Has the update not hit 2 alpha yet? Yes, I find her much easier to T/O, fly and land in 1.5 beta too. I can TO in a nice hover now and land much more precisely, she responds better to changes with collective.

I have my controls set the same for both but still struggling to get into a smooth hover from take off and my landing is hit and miss in 2 alpha, in 1.5 lift to hover and hover to landing. intel i7 6700k overclocked to 4.6, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard, Asus strix 1080, Max flight stick(modded), MFG Crosswind pedals.

Justificus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 +1 She feels much the same here as well. Maybe people are just starting to get used to her? This is what I thought when I first read this earlier today. Then I just patched the game and tried it myself. It is definitely easier for me in 1.5 than it is in 2.0. I was surprised that I actually felt a difference as soon as I took off. I now have to go into both missions and make sure the weather and wind settings are close if not the same and then compare again as it seemed strange it would be like that. I now have to go into both missions and make sure the weather and wind settings are close if not the same and then compare again as it seemed strange it would be like that. Well, I have one suspicion, based on my experience from the 109: If anything, it feels like the air is thinner in NTTR, which makes sense: Higher altitude and higher temperatures. This made it more difficult to take off in the 109 in NTTR, since it was on the edge of its rudder performance at take off in Caucasus. Maybe the Gazelle feels easier in Caucasus because of denser air. I did hear somewhere, that a Gazelle is not a good hot weather performer. But again, I did not feel that much of a difference. Might compare again later as well. :) System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use
jcbak Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I definitely felt a difference. I had set my pitch/roll Y saturation to 50 in 2.0. I have everything set in 1.5 to default. The aircraft is much less twitchy. I kept going back and forth between 1.5 OB and 2.0 thinking maybe I was imagining it. I wasn't. I'm convinced of the difference. Drakoz Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Are your frame rates similar in the v1.5 Caucasus vs. the 2.0.2 NTTR map? The 2.0.2 NTTR map tends to take more to drive a good FPS, especially around Las Vegas. More so than other DCS helicopters, I found that poor frame rate (< 20 FPS) radically changed my ability to fly the DCS Gazelle. Above 30FPS, it is pretty easy, but below 20FPS, it gets difficult fast. It's a human feedback loop thing. At low FPS, you can't see quickly enough how your inputs are changing the movement of the helicopter. Hence, you'll likely overcompensate more often at low FPS. I haven't flown the new update yet, so I can't comment. Regards, Michael
FastForward Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Yes, I have the same frame rate in Vegas and in Caucasus, at least 30/40 fps everywhere. But I think Sporg is right : altitude and temperatures may be the reason, I also feel a big difference with the Huey in NTTR, it needs much more collective to fly than in Caucasus too, and is harder to fly.

I started the Gazelle this way and blew a few engines. performance is seriously affected and maintaining a slower speed helps reduce engine temps.... pop and snipe is seriously limited. Same setting for both, on 1.5 rudder is so much better, no blackouts either on the slightest bump and the skid interaction with the terrain appears more realistic... just in a quick test...
Rogue Trooper Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) 1.5 feels a little docile to me with default settings for controllers. Land any where any time. 2.0 feels full twitch lightweight chopper with very slight curve and sat. Although I guess I need to remember that this is a heavy lightweight due to all the military sensors and receivers. shagrat Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Maybe the 2000m height difference on the two maps and high temperatures have an effect here. Ground behaviour, skids stickiness I could put to desert sand and rocks vs. Grassland and meadows, but the difference in blackouts and crash behaviour seems a bit weird. Pat01 Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) Hi Gents There's an issue about landing in "grass" Landing at ships, taxiway, runway, building tops, Farp is ok For some reason landing somewhere else than these places, could even explode the helicopter even with helicopter cold at start. You can land in "grass" at some places and not at other places. As soon as we can spot where the issue comes from it will be fixed. Thanks for your understanding. Edited May 8, 2016 by Pat01
