frank7006 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Jay, make sure to set your DK2 to 75hz and that you have over 75 fps in-game. Yeah, that was it. Wasn't getting over 75 fps. Thanks.

AurelTristen Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I can only imagine how great VR is/will be for chopper pilots. I've been flying the F15 again, and after a run in with the enemy, I had to make an emergency landing. Landing in VR is a whole new level man. I had no HUD, and can't read my instruments due to the low resolution. I was able to estimate my speed and altitude visually, unlike ever before. It was a rough landing (I was missing my nose, so she tended to pull down when the wind hit) but I survived. In a chopper, I'll bet this added sense of speed and orientation will make landing and hovering totally new. Entropy Squadron Possibly the least serious group of pilots on Earth [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

rcjonessnp175 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Just ordered myself one yay. So does sli work with oculus I assume it does similar to nvidia 3d? Also has anybody tried to down sample from a higher resolution? http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=509076 Can't wait to try oculus in dcs I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. hannibal Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 congradulations to ED,TFC,DCS, Wags, looks like DCS World is a hit with Oculus Users i occasionally visit the reddit forums to check out latest news on the oculus rift, and with in the last week, i have read a few reviews/impressions of the Oculus rift DK2 being used with DCS world, and most of the reviews praise DCS world as the premiere flight sim experience on the oculus rift. Virtual Reality users are looking for polished games and experience, and it looks like DCS is ahead of the curve and it is available NOW for current oculus rift users.. nothing but great things to come, i hope the rift is a catalyst for DCS World flight sim Mass adoption. i can not imagine the performance gains that EDGE will bring along with future hardware like Nvidia Pascal.. combined with the future Oculus Rift Consumer version, i hope this continues DCS world growth and success, u guys are making alot of ppl's dreams come true. :) 1 find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Mainstay Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Unfortunately i never had the chance to try the Oculus but from what i read and what i see it looks to be adding so much more immersion. Especialy in flightsims where HOTAS kicks in it seems to be the future. Th only thing im kinda worried about is the resolution of the screens in the Oculus. Is it known what the final resolution will be in the release version?
Sceptre Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I would love to try it, just to experience this :) Oculus Rift + EDGE is coming very close to being in a real Su-27 :) RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5

Random Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 CV1 resolution is rumoured to be 1440p but nothing official yet. Only negative comments about the DK2 and dcs are about spotting other aircraft. But i wonder if thats simply down to lack of zoom with oculus rift at the moment... Can't wait for mine to turn up!
Kaktus29 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 i guess next step in total immersion would be oculus GLOVES)) you put them on and they have sensors all around them so when you "touch" a button in the cockpit you feel the pressure on the corresponding finger.. making you actually flip the buttons in cockpit with your own hand all the time while seeing it in 3D in the game as you move it.. now that is what i would say is total immersion.. minus the actually being in the plane for real...
ericoh Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I've been reading that ALOT of people cant handle the occulus and get motion sickness extremly quickly. It worries me a bit tbh. I hope i get the chance to try one, dont wanna buy it without knowing.

You should be able to arrange for zoom with Rift the same way you can do it with TrackIR though? (That is, move your forward/back axis of movement to "zoom".) I hope i get the chance to try one, dont wanna buy it without knowing. I stand under correction but here's my personal opinion. I got used to motion in the air, motion in high speed vehicles and motion on a ship (roaring 40s and a small ship meaning very violent seas) in real life. Now I never get motion sickness whatever the situation. So my brain adapted the response of my inner ear as a result of experience and my refusal to use pills in the case of the ship to counter the effects. I therefore conclude that even if I initially find that sub 60Hz framerates or the eye to inner-ear disconnect causes a motion sickness like response, by simply being patient and using it every day for a while my brain will once again adapt and I will no longer suffer any effects of motion sickness. Perhaps by starting with short durations and increasing the time every day? In essence I'm not overly concerned because my desire to fly in fully realized 3D is greater than any discomfort because I believe that discomfort is a response that can, like almost any other response, be trained away.

Most that have DK2 report the motion sickness to be little-to-none. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT

I'm holding off TrackIR to buy consumer kit.
Alicatt Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Not tried the OR yet, but I did try a VR head set something like it a few years ago at a flight sim show, I could not get it off my head fast enough, it was like feeling vertigo and inducing a headache from the moment I opened my eyes. I was so disappointed as I would have loved a system like that, but after that experience I would have to try OR before I would even contemplate about buying it. My eyesight is marginal and out of alignment at best, and is why I fly sims and not a real aircraft. I have had 3 operations to keep my eyes under control and last time I was told that it would have to last me until I get my own personal wooden pod ;) Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron
xaoslaad Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Am I the only one willing to go to these lengths if necessary? http://www.amazon.com/Bonine-Sickness-Protection-Chewable-Raspberry/dp/B000YA8NYQ I can get motion sickness if I read in a car, am sick (with a cold) on a boat, or play Half Life 2 (of all games... I'm told they use an odd field of view), so I'm worried as well. I haven't tried Bonine yet, but from what I'm told it doesn't make you drowsy like Dramamine. I'd even use Dramamine and just plan my 30 minute pre-flight nap while it kicks in.
Rongor Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Would you really take medication to be able to play a videogame? 1
ApoNOOB Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 This brings me to my next question: How is the motion sickness when you are under "the influence"..? :D
xaoslaad Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Would you really take medication to be able to play a videogame? Well, not just any video game, if it makes you feel better. I certainly didn't for HL2 :D This brings me to my next question: How is the motion sickness when you are under "the influence"..? LOL, I don't know. Haven't had that situation arise much as I don't even drink very often. Edited August 5, 2014 by xaoslaad
