joey45 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Greece were against BI for having their Island in a war game anyway. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Wichid Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I foresee BI offering to dump Limnos, delaying Arma 3 another year. They should set it on a New Zealand Island. We don't give a crap. You would think given that, they would be ultra careful not to pee anyone off. What are they doing over there taking pictures for now anyway? You would imagine all of that kind of information gathering would have been done long ago. Bodo Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Oh dear. Wonder if this really will put a delay on ARMA3. Remove the island or cancel the game altogether? "You'll scrap our island, and we'll release your peple". rly? This shouldn't affect Arma 3 in any way. The problem is not the island beeing in Arma 3, but taking photos of military installations. sungsam Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Lemnos is an important strategic island for Greece and NATO. It is known as the Militia Island, military installations are much more than local people villages. Every tourist is specially informed about that just to be careful what they shot with cameras, so no ignorance is excused. The 2 Bohemian employees, where under work order from Bohemian defiantly not for vacations. They have previously visited Lemons back in 2010, they never busted for anything and none has bothered them since they never gave a reason. This time in the name of realism they broke the laws. According to news press ,they just busted inside military base territory, with photo and video direct shots of multiple bases on island. They also carry night vision equipment etc. They never had written allowance for taking shots of militia installations. Authorities have to investigate if these 2 people are just silly employs of Bohemian, or they are simultaneously committing espionage for third party under ignorance of Bohemian Interactive. This is a pretty common method for mystic services to present themselves as customers to aside and finally hire european "tourist spies". In any case please show some trust to local authorities. It may take some time for situation to be resolved. In my opinion Arma 3 realistic reproduction of Lemons Island has become too dangerous. I was expecting a shit like this to finally happen moment by moment. Arma 3 really endangers security of island. It is not logical to be tollerated in favour of a game. Yet the best possible advertisment for the game has already been commited. BI will sell a lot after that. :) My Rgds Edited September 12, 2012 by sungsam DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !

winz Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 In my opinion Arma 3 realistic reproduction of Lemons Island has become too dangerous. I was expecting a shit like this to finally happen moment by moment. Arma 3 really endangers security of island. It is not logical to be tollerated in favour of a game. How is it dangerous? Satellite images of whole island are available for free and they certainly have more credibility then island recreation in-game. Or do you think that the caucasus map in DCS is a danger to Russia/Georgia security? Anyone with intention of striking againts the island/bases will have access to different kind of resources. Yes, what they did was extremely stupid, but I have yet to see a way how Arma 3 is threatening Greece (and NATO) security. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
sungsam Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Satellite images of whole island are available for free. I 'm afraid they don't. They are intentionally altered above military installations one way or another, clouds, image editing etc, most people just don't have the knolidge to realize it. This applies on every similar place in word. I have yet to see a way how Arma 3 is threatening Greece (and NATO) security. I may agree with you, but it only matters what authorities belive and the laws dictate, not you and me, plus I don't think that we are in position to know what important military installations exist there. Also don't forget the possibility to be hired by third party in parallel, under the ignorance of BI. Don't authorities have to investigate it ? winz Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 lso don't forget the possibility to be hired by third party in parallel, under the ignorance of BI. Don't authorities have to investigate it ? Yes, they should. But they also shouldn't overreact - http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/november/12/newsid_2518000/2518385.stm But that has nothing to do with pointing on Arma 3 'look, it's a danger to our security'. It has been stated several times that the island won't be recreated 1:1, so it's kinda useless as intel. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
sungsam Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yes I guess, I must admit that they had overreacted in that period, although I believe that they had to check the photos also in that case. Now about the assumption of ARMA 3 been a security threat or not, I clearly believe that this is something BI must resolve alone with Hellenic authorities, so any misunderstanding been resolved in peace and rightful way. Since when does his constitute "hords of Asians trying to brake in and final Europe"?
