+1 don't have facebook, no intention of getting it.

Besides that, a regular site or forums is much more user friendly as well.

This is just a facebook page, no need to login or have an account to see updates, you can click on the link and directly see updates.

I don't have facebook either but most people have it and it's a great way to pass information. I don't think M2M or Razbam are gonna post updates every day on this forum if they are doing it on facebook. So, again, for people who wants eye candy stop winning and go visit those pages.

If most people would post their TAN lists on the forum, would you also?

You may have heard about a Guy named Edward Snowden and some intricate details about PRISM, TEMPORA and XKeyScores... though everybody tells us it is harmless, some of us may feel a bit hampered in their privacy.

So please accept, that customer relationship through Facebook or other direct/indirect sources for the NSA is not the most brilliant ideas at these times. :music_whistling:

Hopefully, one of these days, companies will wake up to the fact that Facebook is not a good way to disseminate information unless they are trying to reach the twenty-something-I-have-not-grown-up-yet demographic.

I guess that's why I created a Metal2Mesh forum here: http://metal2mesh.com/forum/

I will warn you it hosts both FSX and DCS items.

Brilliant! Thank you. That's plenty of info to keep us drooling...:D

I disagree. We're just missing the 50-something-get-of-my-lawn-type-who-is-afraid-of-a-simple-social-website folks.

If you don't want to use Facebook with a personal profile; fine. Just make a fake one and don't friend anyone and just 'like' whatever pages you want to stay in touch with. It's pretty simple. For someone who enjoys a complex sim, a lot of you are being very touchy over simple things. It's not rocket science.

Cheers!

Maybe! Maybe next time after a major incident like 9/11 the NSA is filtering their infos for patterns the bad guys used. Unfortunately they were very active on the same topics you were, so you match the "potential terrorist suppporter" profile? Who knows. I for one would prefer real humans with brains connecting info not software.

What happens if people don't use their brain when searching for suspects and call the law enforcement and national security you can read here.

Let's put it this way: I don't want to be the next Saad Allami, one or two day after a thing like Boston happenend, by accident or incompetence, does not matter.

Sadly, any social network platform is likely misused to track data from everything you do on the platform or on webpages. If the website allow facebook, google etc. to place their cookies, LSO, "I like"-buttons on their pages, it does not require your real name in the facebook-profile to track your habits and collect info about you.

Software like XKeyScores can do it later by matching your IP address to other web sessions and when you check your gmail they know who is the guy from the "fake" facebook account, or who it was that watched that porn an hour ago with the "privacy tab" enabled in Firefox. :P

Well there is not much you can do about that, but you should be aware what is possible, so you can decide what you personally want to publish on the web.

Or maybe just ask your buddies if they would like to have their photos you took from last weekends party uploaded and tagged... "Hey, thats RAZBAM-Cobra on that photo lying on his face in his excrements after he passed out!"

Bottomline: Everybody should have the choice to decide what he wants to use or upload, but it should be ok to say "no" I don't want a facebook account! So as a potential costumer to reach, I prefer your website/forum over facebook, anytime.

...and by the way: a fake account is explicitly forbidden in the Facebook legal terms, as well as a secondary account, though I doubt they will do more than simply delete your account, if they will even do that. :D

It is not exactly free, you allow them to earn profit with your profile data. Even if you upload your songs you allow them to sublicence it... which is often a big no-no if you want to sell your songs to a label, later. You can not grant the label exclusive rights, because you already have a legal binding agreement with facebook to use your "Intelectual property".

That does not mean it's not a great Advertisement platform for your music, but you have to know what "deal" you sign! :smartass:

I'm sorry you feel that way. Nothing I say will change your mind; that I can definitely see.

Honestly; if you're so bordering on paranoia over being tracked on the internet I advise you to just unplug your ethernet cable immediately, write Merkel or vote for your local pirate party.

Alternatively get a burner phone with 100mb SIM card and use it to log into a fake Facebook profile.

In all seriousness; FB updates makes it easy on us developers-- and I do not foresee this changing any time soon. It's an easy, centralized platform for disseminating information amongst customers and hobbyists.

Next thing is the question what would be wrong about an agency, knowing about your fakeprofiles or what porn you looked for? Do you realy expect them to sniff those data for every single person out, just because they have so much freetime to spare?

They do this after they got the task to check out a supicious person and if you ask me, if you are harmless, the more they find out about you, the lesser chance, that they suspect you any further because they will notice that they got the wrong one.

For example they are looking for someone who smuggled some nasty missiles into the country and supplied them to a local terr0rcell. They know about the time that incidend happend. Somehow they suspect you and now they are starting to check out your data. And woha, he was clearly at home at that time, posting from his computer some faked FB stuff what no one else would have done, given his posting history over the last 2 years. "We got the wrong one here."

No objections! ...and no, I'm not paranoid. Hey I post here, I don't shut down my phone all the time and use Google to search all the time, still I like to have the freedom to choose willingly what and where to distribute.

Would you like a store that requires you to get a LinkedIn or Xing profile to be informed about their offers, or a website you may look up?

I'm not saying you should not use Facebook, only that Facebook should not be the only means to get information.

Anyway with the link to the M2M Forum I'm fine!

No offense meant, nor taken. ;)

And since Mrs. Merkel does not even now what the "Internet" is ( google "Neuland Merkel"), objections or letters on that behalf is pretty much useless! :D
