codenamepanzer Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 For BS, i replaced the high.lua of 1.2.1 by the high.lua of 1.2.0 (no new field, only values change between the 2 files), and i retrieved my FPS of 1.2.0. All other configuration still equal between 1.2.0 and 1.2.1.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 3, 2012 ED Team Posted October 3, 2012 I have tried earlier high.lua but it had little effect, As soon as I have terrain in view I get 10 - 17 fps, but if no terrain in view i.e looking at the sky back up to 45 - 50 fps. ED have acknowledged the issue so I am sure they are looking into it :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1566540#post1566540 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 3, 2012 ED Team Posted October 3, 2012 Just wanted to pass on a observation I have made, as the sim is unplayable for me at the moment. when I am in any aircraft and looking at the terrain I get a big fps hit 10 - 17 If I look up at the sky back up to 45 - 55 fps If I eject and I am first person view on the deck fps is back up to 30 - 35 fps If I am F2 on another aircraft zoomed in 30 - 35 fps but as soon as I zoom out all the way back to 10 - 17 fps. Its something to do with terrain I think ? I know ED are working on it and that is great but I wanted to share my experiences. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Same here...looking up at the sky is 60fps, looking strait ahead, as soon as any land is in view drop in FPS. Could be a hill with no trees, hill with trees, city, does not matter. I hope this helps narrow down the issue. Nividia user here...specs below. i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit

badger66 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. It's a very drastic drop. I would consistently get 60FPS and I'm now getting 30. For reference I'm running an i5-2500K at 4.5GHz, GTX670 FTW , and 8GB DDR3. Something must be really messed up to cause such a drop on my machine. Yep , Ive got about a 50% FPS drop too .
ED Team Wags Posted October 3, 2012 ED Team Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) For those having performance problems, please first disable hardware (graphics card) antialiasing and software (game) MSAA and TSAA. Then examine your performance. If improved, then just enable MSAA and examine change. I also advise adjusting your clutter/bushes slider and tree visibility sliders as these can have a big impact. Naturally, also make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Esac_mirmidon Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 But this can´t explain why in previous version i had 60 FPS and now i have 30. If i disable MSAA i could gain 3-4 FPS no more, without bushes and TSAA off. This is not my graphic card settings or ingame options. This is something different realated to new DCSW version in my opinion. " You must think in russian.." Corrigan Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Just installed 1.2.1.6120, and while I can't immediately say that my framerate is lower, I have an incredibly annoying stuttering. The average fps is still high, but it's basically unplayable. This is new for 1.2.1, nothing else has changed. Esac_mirmidon Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 More over, because i was touching and tweaking this days my grpahics card a lot searching for something to improve my perfomance in DCSW i had reinstalled 1.2.0. only to be safe that i´m not doing something wrong. And again 60 solid FPS in any situation ( almost, explosions, CBU, are vey demanding). Reinstalled 1.2.1 following instructions, update included to last version today, same in game settings and graphic card settings. Result: Half FPS in any situation. Please tell me that i´m doing something wrong or something like " please be patient, we have all under control and soon this perfomance problem would be away for ever " Thanks. I will support ED anyway, just an afternoon full of stress and tweaking without luck. " You must think in russian.." jspec3 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm at 1.2.1.6120 and while my frames are a little better, they're still not back up to where they were. Also, anyone notice a little 'chugging' along of the terrain when flying down low? Almost like the old original il-2 problem for those that might remember. Even at around 30fps the ground gives little 'hitches', like. Things just aren't as smooth as they were. Running with the settings that I used to before, everything on high, no of the tssaa, just 4x msaa in the options and latest nvidia is set to 'application controlled'. i7 at 4.3, 580gtx, 8 gigs of ram, win7. Posted over at simhq as well, just wanted to make a report, glad you're working on it and I'm sure it'll get figured out-

Corrigan Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I use two monitors, and I can tell you that not only does DCS stutter, it actually makes what I do on my second screen stutter too. I have input lag and low framerate on my second screen, when DCS is (even paused) on the primary, something I have not seen any other game do, and something which did not happen in previous versions. There's something very wrong. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5

_Dredd Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) morning all, I am still having issues, I have tried all possible configurations and still getting 10 - 15 fps. Would any ATI users be willing to share there setup in the CCC ? I am now considering a fresh install of windows and starting from scratch You're using large resolutions or multi-screens though right ? Im on ATI. (ASUS 7970). Rig is: i7 3930k @ 4.6 Intel 520 SSD RAID3 16GB Corsair Vengeance mem Using 3 and 4 screens between 4616x1920(3 screens), and with 4616x3000(4 screens) I would get 17-21fps with stutter along the terrain visuals on side screens. With HDR off; I got 21-30, with smoother terrain visuals and less noticeable stutter. My first gut feeling was an issue with resolving HDR (sun) with multiscreen management. HDR defintely looks more enhanced with glare and covering multi-monitors I'll do some more testing tonight. In CCC I have everything on default settings. Vsync off, unless application specifies Triple buffering off Tessellation: Application controlled I need to test on the single 27" 1920x1200 screen which Im sure will run fine everything maxed out. I played with all settings, low to high; and in the end HDR was the big killer when running fullscreen mode. I usually use Cold Colors, havent tried other settings. I also need to try previous ATI driver verions(current 12.8 ); no -one has really mentioned what ver they are using. I don't have any real loading issues; everything is similar to before; though cockpit start preload is definitely noticeable. Feel free to PM me to go through stuff if needed. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 4, 2012 ED Team Posted October 4, 2012 Thanks _Dredd its a little annoying having run a great multi screen setup in previous version and then to have so much trouble with 1.2.1. It must be something ED have changed ( maybe ED could enlighten us a little ) Yes I am running 5 screens on 2 gpu's HD6770 is my primary and HD5770 is my secondary. I run the main screens in portrait and have a total resolution of 4024x1440. I am also using softTH. Cat version is the latest beta 12.9 I will play around some more later and report my findings Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
