Raven68 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Regarding a dedicated server. Work on this has been underway but had to be placed on hold given the current instability in network play. Once we get network play stable again, work on the dedicated server will resume. At least we know its coming one day. Thanks Wags!! ED Team Wags Posted December 26, 2012 ED Team Posted December 26, 2012 WHEN?!?!?!?!? I'm desperate. :notworthy: All I can say is soon at this point. SkateZilla Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Which can already be done in DCSW by setting render 3d to false within graphics.cfg  Which still loads the GUI and Resources, and leaves a "Idle" user logged on. I can wait, as Network Stab. is key, no point in D.S. if people cant connect for one reason or another. Till Then, I use DCSW 1.2.2.7570 to work on stuff, and DCS A-10 for MP. EtherealN Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 nothing that can such a large corporation like ED mess with. ED a large corporation? Most games released on the market today have more people working customer support than the complete sum total of Eagle Dynamics. :P Hell, from my personal contacts in some other game developers through previous work and engagements showed me that they have more people working marketing than the sum-total of Eagle Dynamics. Regarding the bigger issue regarding multiplayer, there is one issue you are forgetting: Combined Arms. This required a substantial rewriting of related network code. As always, new features inevitably mean new bugs, which is unfortunate but unavoidable, and this is what ED is currently working to address. Once this work is complete we should be able to see a stable network codebase once again. There is just not enough people whit interest towards simulation. One way would be to have biger price tag on DCS modules, It would still not give them what they deserve compere to the workload they have to other games that are easier to develop and get money for. I don't have money growing on trees neither but I would definitely pay double the price for DCS module since community is small. It might not be so good idea to do it on UH-1, But for A-10C, K-50 and when DCS fighters arrive it would be worth every penny and reasonable price tag to get acces to so big simulated theater of war that can be played multiplayer. Silver_Dragon Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 remember, additional workload not only DCS:W series. HiFly62 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Unfortunately Tek, a higher price tag would drive away some more people than you have to hike prices again, it's catch 22. A lot of folks can't be bothered with the steep learning curve among other things, there are only so many of us fanatics :pilotfly:

Military and professional branch get a heavy workload over the team, more bigger that the entertainment section. I keep forgetting that they have that demand also to satisfy. spikenet Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 An ancient game that is either cheap or... entirely without DRM. Strike back for great justice against Ubisoft's lawyers. thanks for the tip. I found it, installed the old crap so I could install the module. I dont know the back-story, but really, what a joke. Similar thing with BS2 upgrade.
