There are alternatives to plain swastika. Leaving that area just blank looks a bit odd.. Something like this would be great:

I have seen a few variations like that, some more like the image is more worn off in places... anyways, if its legal issues I doubt they even want to hint at it and not risk any issues... as I said if there is a template it will be a non issue anyways...

I like this fear of symbols of humans... even stolen vedantic symbols produce fear after almost 70 years of their misuse... "it's the law!"... "some people start to cry when they see the boggie man"... some when they see Santa...

 

 

I like the new Dora and I'm sure it will get its historical markings by skinners as mods.

In German retail, no product is allowed to be sold with the Swastika. It would not get a USK rating.

Controversy

Due to its use of Nazi symbols such as the swastika and the anthem of the Nazi Party, "Horst-Wessel-Lied", as theme music, the PC version of the game was withdrawn from circulation in Germany in 1994, following a verdict by the Amtsgericht München on January 25, 1994 (Az. 2 Gs 167/94). Despite the fact that Nazis are portrayed as the enemy in the game, the use of those symbols is a federal offense in Germany unless certain circumstances apply (see Strafgesetzbuch section 86a). Similarly, the Atari Jaguar version was confiscated following a verdict by the Amtsgericht Berlin Tiergarten on December 7, 1994 (Az. 351 Gs 5509/94).[33]

Due to concerns from Nintendo of America, the Super NES version was heavily edited as well. All swastikas and Nazi references were removed. Hitler, a boss character in the game, had his moustache removed and was renamed "Staatmeister." Blood was replaced with sweat to make the game seem less violent (for SNES copies distributed in Germany, the enemy blood was turned green). Attack dogs were also replaced by giant mutant rats. Employees of id Software are quoted in The Official DOOM Player Guide about the reaction to Wolfenstein, claiming it to be ironic that it was morally acceptable to shoot people, but not dogs. The opening music was changed as well.

I would have liked for Yo-Yo to model a radial, can't wait for that, on the other hand, the D9 was a very advanced plane for it's time and i'm curious to try all the gizmos it has in store. If you think the Mustang is the cadillac of WW2 planes, the Dora surely is the Benz.

in theory you simply need to add some detailed historical documentation of the Luftwaffe and how they came to be misguided by the nazi regime state that the markings shown are historically correct for educational purposes and make a stamp "educational material" on the retail product... :doh:

I hope the D9 will grow on me. But I am surprised because as far as I know the fighter collection do not own a FW190, and the only original left in the world is an A5

They are rare... which makes a ED simulation of them even more exciting. In Everett Wash. they have an A-5 and D-13, both flight worthy, the A has the original BMW 801 as well... they dont fly the D-13 because its so rare but it is flight worthy.

As for all those that were hoping for a A model... I bet alot of P-51 pilots were too... those exploding drums of ammo in the wings made for easier removal of the wing :)

And what about avionics? For example, It surprised me a lot to see a rear-looking radar installed in the Mustang, I didn't know that.
