as i see the problem on KS they can start only an "all or nothing" project

so if they will not reach $75K - with or without their own money top/filled up - then they will "lose" (at that time) $30-40-50K which probably would be enough for a good start

so in that way they will able to start only from $zero instead of start from $30-40-50K + their money :(

(and i dont know KS rules)

It is a prerogative of Kickstarter: the project financial goal is a requirement to authorize the bakers funding. When you're going to bake it's explained that your money won't be taken if the goal is not reached (it's a sort of assurance), so cheating the total by injecting your money is circumventing the rules and you will be reported.

I'm not sure what's the "surprise", it's KI that have decided to go for Kickstarter, with THIS rules. There's other funding method that are more elastic (in example IndieGoGo that is well recognized worldwide, offers a variable funding, so you won't "loose" the bakers if the goal is not reached).

sylkhan, what Eagle was meaning here is that it is a combination of KI existing funding, and the goal of $75,000 which would fund the project, not that we would be "topping up" the kickstarter with funding, but I can see how it could be read that way.

Just incase people missed it - as there still seems to be some confusion around this. Eagles statement was meaning that in terms of the total project funding, the completed $75K from kickstarter would be "topped up" i.e. added to, by KI funds to create the total funding for the project (which is a lot more than $75,000).

Even if the kickstarter is not successful (We never say never though, we are getting more supporters finding out about this project every day), we will be completing the project and getting it funded - if not by the community then by more traditional development means.

What can you guys do to help? At the moment you can help us by pledging (obviously), or if you already have, by spreading the word to friends and other flight sim communities that you are a member of, if they might also want to be part of this project. We have put some "DCS F-35 Test Pilot" avatar and signature images on our Facebook page that you can download and use if you like :)

If you are a member of a virtual squadron, don't forget our squadron package, which can get you 12 copies of the A, B, or C and 12 personalised aircraft including a custom squadron paint job.

Just made a pledge. Looking forward to this, and especially to see if touchscreen integration can become a reality.

Someone mention touchscreen?

Here is a video on Kinney Interactive's website showing the Ka-50 using touch screen...

That will work with any interactive cockpit. The question with this aircraft is more along the lines of 'will we be able to export the cockpit displays to one or more touch screen monitors and interact with them realistically?'

It is, since i have deleted the OT posts.

Drink and moderate much?

No.

I'd appreciate it if you, in the absence of knowing all facts, could stop being so confrontational and just let me do my job. Now back OT. If you want to continue this discussion, do so per PM.

Actually i deleted everything i wanted to delete. If you want to discuss moderation with me, be so kind to contact me per PM. This is not the place. You can also adress complaints about moderation to the community managers Groove and EvilBivol-1, also per PM.

Now, again, back OT. I will rigorously delete OT posts from here on out.

Its not looking good for the kickstarter. I am going to double my pledge but I think its pretty safe to say that it wont be claimed.

I will be looking forward to seeing some kind of roadmap/timeline/new fundraising ideas from Kinney if the kickstarter falls through.

Now I'm off to bake me some tasty airplane cookies.....

I check this thread and KS page every day I backed whatever I could afford. I don't get how this project has only little over 300 supporters. I tried to help wrote to overclock.net and even IGN. Does that mean that there is just so little market for fly combat sims ? It just does not make sanse to me who wouldn't want to fly F 35 A in the combat environment. While meanwhile some other ks game projects already go 300%

There are alot of people who want to fly the F 35. There are however not as many people who want to give money to something that they will recieve in at least two years from an unknown developer.

I don't get how this project has only little over 300 supporters.

It's a combination of reasons:

1) the simulation world is a niche market, the crowd interested into flight simulators (in general) are a way less than traditional (casual) gamers.

2) taking the already small number of customers you need to consider only those ones that trust unconditionally those KI words.

Me in example, I follow this forum and I play DCS by a while already, I love any simulative module (ie: A10C, BS/2, UH1) .. but I don't like much the approximation and the compromises. I believe (if i'm right or wrong doesn't change the meaning) that KI doesn't have enough data to deliver what it promises, and I think that this module wouldn't be at DCS standard in the near future (maybe in "some" years.. but surely not in the time they have announced).. so I wouldn't put much of my money into it.

My idea: if they would have dedicate their time to something else, in example an F14, F16.... today they would have collected X3 those money, not from ppl outside here, but from any single member of this forum.

The criticism is not about KI ability, but it's about the choice of that plane: not enough data + you don't even know if it will really be delivered worldwide (looking at the latest news, there's even a chance that the F35 "as is" will never see the light! :) ). we must be honest... the F35, whenever the good intentions, is a failing project (I mean the real one, not the DCS module).

This makes me laugh a little on the inside every time I see it.

The F-35 will be the best fighter jet on the playground when it is ready. Anything less than another F-35 going against it, will fail. (That's what it's built for)

To say it is a failing project just because of some issues during early development and acceptance shows your ignorance...
