Hueyman Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 To each his own! Absolutely, and it's true it's on one side a great choice as people now are free to wait final release, or jump on the prototype. The problem isn't here, it's that the improvements should come quicker, as many people already bought the Beta of the Huey at full price, months ago ( when was it ? April ? May ? ) What I'm afraid of is DCS to become a sim filled with more unfinished products ( while really high quality ) than finished ones, it leaves a bad taste you know ... The risk is when they will have their Huey, Mi-8, Cobra etc out as a pre-beta, I doubt they will be really motivated to come back on a one year old product to still improving it much... so they will fix one or two issue and then rename the file " final 1.0 " ... Finger crossed I'm all wrong ! 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] CPL(A)IR ME/SEP/MEP/SET - CPL(H)

TurboHog Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Ouch! The Mi-8 is nice but I noticed a big FPS hit. My acceptable 25FPS in an empty scenario in the Huey compares to just 19FPS in the exact same situation. If I have to fly that Mi-8 in a complex mission I'll have like 10FPS... I hope EDGE/IG is going to save me! (some money) 'Frett'

Hueyman Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I think I saw on the specs on DCS.com that this one required higher specs than the Huey, like an i5 for ex .. : Mi-8 : Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Window 7 or Window 8; CPU: Intel Core i5 or better; RAM: 8 GB; Hard disk space: 10 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; Joystic; requires internet activation. Huey : Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4+GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. Vintovka Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Just wanted to add that yes the MI-8 lags my system much harder than any other aircraft. Its not even really playable for me. I am guessing its all the calculations of this large aircraft and all of the extra rotor blades. Getting about 7 FPS before shooting anything on just the tarmac. Forcing me to finally pull the trigger on a new rig. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=112899

Solidsnaker Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 bought this morning and already having a blast. Great job Belsimtek and ED :D
TurboHog Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Say 5-6 fps... Oh and for EDGE, YOU start save some money because when it is out, you are going to run it at 2-3 fps max, and I am not kidding.. DCS feels terribly unoptimised now. This is based on the fact that indentical effects (like rocket explosions) took almost no FPS in A10C 1.1.1.1 while it turns DCSW into a slide show. What went wrong? Can EDGE bring back some optimisation? Hopefully! If I can use low settings it might even improve FPS. At least that's the thought that keeps me from throwing the computer out of the window. 'Frett'
lorenzoj Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Seemed to me that I was getting a bit more fps in the Huey after updating and MI-8 seems ok in limited testing so far. I'm also using MSI Afterburner on my graphics card and Razer Game Booster which seem to help fps
Grim_Smiles Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I was thinking of waiting until the gunner positions were put in. But it seems I have an addiction:( "Hurled headlong flaming from the ethereal sky; With hideous ruin and combustion down; To bottomless perdition, there to dwell; In adamantine chains and penal fire" (RIG info is outdated, will update at some point) i5 @3.7GHz (OC to 4.1), 16GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 970 4GB, TrackIR 5 & TrackClip Pro, TM Warthog HOTAS, VKB T-Rudder Mk.IV, Razer Blackshark Headset, Obutto Ozone
BobbyC-101st Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I like it so far and it handles a lot better than the Huey on take-off and landing. Finding my way around the cockpit is difficult as I don't read Russian Cyrillic. Refuelling request answers with "Copy" then drains all your tanks. None of the weapons selections and configurations can be assigned to joystick or controllers (greyed out) so clicking on various Cyrillic marked swiches in combat is tricky with eyes off the road. Weapons are nice and effective but I need to ask the question...do I have to aim the helicopter at the target or does the aiming and sighting move? I can move the sight but the bullets don't go where the sight is looking. Enjoy

That (I think) is about where your bullets and rockets go at minimal range. You will have to use the chart next to the weapons panel but it's not in english yet... 'Frett'
BaD CrC Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Maybe an unexpected consequence for BST of the early sales on the Huey title a few weeks after it came out. Two third of my squad is waiting to see if another early sale is coming for the next coming month or two before hitting the purchase button. So initial sales might not look as high as expected for BST even if this product is looking very promising. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden

I appreciate your answer and have adjusted the sights as you explained but the nose of the helicopter has to point down instead of flying level in order for the rounds to hit that spot. If you are sitting on the ground pointing at a wall, the rounds hit the same spot, regardless of where you raise or lower the sight. Am I missing hitting a switch somewhere? :book:

So you are thinking the wrong way around. All rocket/gunpods are in a fixed position. 'Frett'
