seikdel Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) It does this by itself at the beginning of the download. It just takes a few seconds, because it is much faster than download obviously. After copying is finished it will download the new 1.2.7 stuff I assume. Is it ~12GB of stuff that it has to download? edit: You can tell OpenBeta installer to use your Steam-installed DCS World. It requires some light hackery: 1) When installing OpenBeta unselect 'Start Download' or cancel the transfer 2) In the OpenBeta install folder create a file dcs_local_source.txt and put there a path to your DCS World install. Save the file in UTF-8 encoding. 3) Update the OpenBeta - it will pick up the files from the path in dcs_local_source.txt From now on, your openbeta install will always first look into your release DCS World for files, until you delete dcs_local_source.txt file. You are brilliant and helpful genius, friend! Much thanks! Edited December 18, 2013 by seikdel

ED Team c0ff Posted December 18, 2013 ED Team Posted December 18, 2013 It shows a download of 12GB, so I guess everything. I only kept the Steam DCS World and all modules around once it went there (faster download :)). Is it worth copying that install across to somewhere else so the files can be found and just the deltas are then downloaded? - that would really help. Thanks c0FF For Steam users I added this bit to the Steam forums: Note: It may be worth backing up your existing control/settings folder that lives here: C:\Users\YourUsername\Saved Games\DCS ..as this beta via Steam will overwrite these. For beta bug reporting it might also be worth clearing the folder out so new settings are used. Does that sound ok, in that I'm worried that people updating their Steam version (via the Steam direct method) will have a 'clean' base for simpler bug reporting? SyntaxError Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Cool installer, glad to see it copies files from V1.2.6. Looks like I can partake after all  F/A-18C - A-10C - FC3 - L-39C/ZA - Ka-50 - UH-1H - Mi-8MTV2 - F-86F - Spitfire - P-51D - P-47D - BF-109K - CA
Raven68 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I dont know if it's been asked and forgive me if has been, but to anyone on ED staff will we see or be updated of additional features to be aware of during the open beta? ED Team Wags Posted December 18, 2013 Author ED Team Posted December 18, 2013 Just as there were updates to 1.2.6 and earlier versions, I'd imagine there will be updates to 1.2.7 before we consider it final. Such changes will be noted on this forum. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544

Ok didn't know if these features and fixes were locked in and there was a possibility of "feature creep", but I guess that's why it's called a beta. :D Thanks a bunch Matt for the reply. Flogger23m Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I did not see the new Su-25T cockpit as being noted here, though is there any chance that it might make the final release? Or is that still very far off?

Such changes will be noted on this forum. I find this slightly confusing because of the interpretation of the word 'final'. This is what I mean: The open beta will receive updates before the official version 1.2.7 is released. The open beta will end after which the official v1.2.7 is released. The non-beta version 1.2.7 will subsequently receive updates. 'Frett'
