I don't like shooting blanks.. so I'll just wait for Official announcement. I recommend you do the same.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I tend to go nocturnal where there is a lot of work to do. :helpsmilie:

Less distractions....

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

What we mean by "old" videos is simply that a lot of them showcased the MiG-21 when it was a completely different beast. Essentially every video except the latest one.

In the past 1,5 year of development, the MiG-21 has been almost entirely rebuilt, both art and code.

Announcement coming in the first days of next week. :)

WooOOO

Can't love u more!

I am very grateful that the project will go forward and we all reap the reward of flying it. Anything else is besides the point.

Good luck doing a cold start without reading the manual.

As long as the DCS:MiG-21bis complies with the actual MiG-21bis manual, cold start shouldn't be too much of a problem from the moment it is installed. Of course, any could DCS release includes an interactive cold start lesson mission anyway!

let's all calm down people. None of this hoorah came about after the release of the hawk was delayed.

I am sure the good folks at Mig-21BIS will update all you anxious people soon enough.

Let's be realistic, the hawk and mig I have money aside to buy. Doubt I will fly either but putting money into the 3rd party kitty I believe, goes towards aircraft I will fly such as the Typhoon and in time maybe the foxbat or DCS quality flanker from BIS....

Different issues though

One has been held for development issues, ie things to come in 1.2.8 and a legal issue with BAE for licencing.

The other because the leader of the dev team has effectively said there are issues which may mean abandoning the project entirely. To the point that even the most optimistic person cant believe that the original Mig21 team is still in place (at least in its entirety)

Dont confuse a legal and technical issue with a complete meltdown internally which is what appears to have happened with Mig21.

All we can do is wait for the statement from Studio Beczl.

Nobody contributed cash up front to the development of the Hawk, and the Mig is already considerably more delayed than the Hawk is going to be.

Besides, the Hawk has nothing to do with this conversation.

The MiG-21 is known for having a very simple startup procedure for a fighter. Assuming you're on ground power you pretty much only need to turn on the batteries and fuel crossfeed and you're ready to start the engine, everything else like radar and navigation you can do afterwards and is only a matter of a few switches.

I don't remember exactly what the manual says regarding cold startup using onboard power but it's not that much more complex.

And yet again, just why do people think that throwing money at the Mig team will help? Here's a hint: Internal means just that. Or are some people around here so demeaning towards the Mig team that they're actually suggesting bribes in exchange for the team "behaving" by ceasing their disagreements and releasing the module?

Scrim, Calm down ...:) the reason that I put that out there was not an indicative ..."we must throw money at the problem"

more, a case of if there were financial issues getting the add on to market then now would be a good time to say.

Bribery.. not quite

demeaning... er not too sure how you came to that conclusion, but ok.. your opinion I guess. My fact is that it was not about know what this issue was ...far from it.

it will all come out in the wash.

Calm down and lets get back to flying:) :book: :joystick:

The Hawk delay wasn't introduced by a dismaying announcement of a potential cancellation, followed by a total blackout of official forum presence.

One was handled as a reassurance with clearly defined caveats, the other was a panic inducing stink bomb right into the middle of the confidence of already-paid customers.

Misplaced optimism is not the answer. Patience is, but that needn't be laced with incongruous perceptions of events.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.

I agree. And to be honest I find it quite strange that instead of putting up somewhere an official announcement stating that there are ongoing issues with the team and progress will be halted until further news, the forum was hidden out of nowhere, and a few project members are coming to some topic in a chit-chat section and giving some unclear answers to some questions. But in the end I'm willing to buy the module anyway, it's understandable that when we are dealing with people we can't avoid a few senseless situations once in a while. :)
