SJAY_ONE started following

Lemme drop this here just to show how much it is "not a laser beam" (sorry for the low quality, im on mobile. its from the radar video on the Heatblur YT channel) Pay attention to the "circular waves" around the main beam, especially the ones pointing down. Those are the sidelobes, they hit the terrain below you, reflect back and the system picks up their returns. Returns are displayed completely unfiltered based on distance on the screen, so they mix with your bandit. Also worth noting that the strongest sidelobe is going almost straight done, which gives you the so called "altitude line", any contact with a distance equalling your altitude is essentially impossible to lock. When a lock is commanded, the radar somehow has to know what you want to lock. And it has no idea what an actual target is, or what is just clutter. It more or less goes for whatever the cursor sits on. So if the target is sitting right between other returns, its very easy for the system to just lock one of the many other returns in the direct vicinity.

Kneeboards for AH-64D for guided/unguided weapon employment
609_Relentov replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Will do, TBH I didn't catch this subtle change: Renamed the "Consent To Fire" command in AH-64D Pilot Controls to "Multifunctional Input (Center)" to more accurately describe AI CPG functions added to this command in the DCS update on July 23. The Early Access Guide still shows "Consent to Fire" in the "Player-as-Pilot AI Helper Commands" section that I included in some updated kneeboards, so I didn't catch the change. I also checked in-sim and I see that change has already occurred. I will have to update the kneeboards to reflect the new command name, although it may take a while to get a new archive uploaded as my PC will be unavailable most of the next two weeks. Thanks for the catch... -
Just wondering if ED would be able to update the ASP gun sight texture in the future. It looks really cartooney at the moment. There is a fantastic mod by sundowner.pl however it is no longer supported. Something like this null

Air-2-Ground gun pipper obscured by aircraft datum
AeriaGloria replied to Lixma 06's topic in Bugs and Problems
You still sort of atleast see where the pipper is. I have a feeling it might be correct, I’ll do a test. One of the differences between FC3 MiG-29 and Su-27 was about this, the FC3 Su-27 boresight is where it is for the MiG-29 FF in your picture compared to the artificial plane silhouette. I always wondered why the MiG-29 plane silhouette was 2 degrees “higher.” Perhaps this is the more correct version, and would make some sense with the crosshairs as they would be aligned with the missile axis/x in the reticle/Phi0 mode. Might also explain why when we center the circle gimbal angle symbol in IRST lock the target is still slightly high. Imteresting catch. I wonder what is the truth. Might want to just record a track anyways. I would do a high speed run at low altitude over the ocean with low fuel set to infinite fuel, this will mean you need the least AOA to maintain flight. The angle with the horizon while firing the gun will prove in a track the angles we see. Sounds needless, but a track is the sure way to get a bug looked at here -

Kneeboards for AH-64D for guided/unguided weapon employment
Minsky replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Just make sure to read the patch notes as well, as they have some things not mentioned in the mini-update. And neither of them explains more nuanced stuff (probably saving it for the updated manual). https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/release/2.9.21.16362/ -

need track replay auto waypoint not updating
RogueSpecterGaming replied to dave76's topic in Bugs and Problems
You don't SEQ anymore. That was a very old thing and was not correct. Correct way to select AUTO/MAN is to put the * over MAN/AUTO and press M-SEL (0) on the ICP. -
Kneeboards for AH-64D for guided/unguided weapon employment
609_Relentov replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Hmm, I had checked that by downloading from the site to test. I just downloaded again and the files look fine. Is the date your showing above the last modified date? Looks more like the original file dates. Yeah if the George AI has more changes I’ll have to review again and tweak as needed. I didn’t realize there was another set of changes coming or I might have waited… oh well. At least I’m caught up for now … -
Kneeboards for AH-64D for guided/unguided weapon employment
Minsky replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Maybe you forgot to include them into the archive? I downloaded the latest version from the link in the first post, and those files inside are dated 2022: But even if you did update them based on the latest EA guide, that document is not up-to-date. It doesn't yet have changes from the latest patch described here: -
Single Players: What would win you over to a multiplayer server?
Ornithopter replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
Just think how good you could have been in the F-14 by now, in multiplayer, if only you'd known all those years ago. -
Hey Helles Belle, Your A-10C skins are amazing. Is there any access to the older versions while we wait for the new ones?

Kneeboards for AH-64D for guided/unguided weapon employment
609_Relentov replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Actually I went through all of my AH-64D kneeboards, and updated all of the ones affected by George. On the player as pilot I changed most of them. In the player as CPG, the only ones I changed due to George were the ones in item 6 above, which I pulled as excerpts from the latest early access guide. For the remaining player as CPG kneeboards, I was playing DCS today and confirmed they are fine as is. The only George commands I mentioned when player is CPG are the FLT and H-B commands, which didn’t change (based only on the ones I mentioned in those kneeboards). Are there specific errors you see on the player as CPG kneeboards that I missed? Thanks -

I can't seem to change from man to auto with dobber right? I select the man in the DED, dobber right and it does not change. What's the correct procedure? Thanks and good day! DrDetroit -

After the latest update, SRS no longer connects when I start DCS. I get a box saying I have another instance of it running, but I do not. How can I fix this?

An F/A-18C Lot 20 Cockpit that Looks and Feels... Right (56° FoV)
Bowie replied to Bowie's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
How did this work out for you? Set: SnapViews["FA-18C_hornet"] = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 ... [13] = {--default view viewAngle = 41.000000,--FOV 44.180000(60°), 41.000000(56°), OEM 63.000000 "FA-18C_hornet" viewAngleVertical= 0.000000,--VFOV hAngle = 0.000000,-- (View Center)/(Cam View Dn-Slow)(-30°) vAngle = -30.000000,-- Cockpit View Angle 0.000000, OEM -15.700000 (Note: reset from '0.000000,' for this exercise. x_trans = 0.015000,-- Cockpit View In_Trans 0.015000(60/56°), OEM 0.130000 y_trans = -0.017000,-- Cockpit View Up_Trans -0.017000, OEM -0.008300 z_trans = 0.000000,-- Cockpit View Rt_Trans 0.000000, OEM 0.000000 rollAngle = 0.000000, cockpit_version = 0, This will convert the default 'center view' - to a 30° down angle view from the proper eyeball location. Adjust 'viewAngle', (higher numbers = increased FoV) until you match this: Then reset 'vAngle = -30.000000,' back to 'vAngle = 0.000000,'. Bowie -

I play mostly PvP servers, against a real human pilot they are really hard to hit, idk the exact percentage of hits/launches, but they certainly are pretty low... -
C-130J Development Progress Testing Phase Airplane Simulation Company, the developers of the DCS: C-130J are making excellent progress. The module has been added to our internal version, and integration testing is underway to ensure compatibility with current DCS systems. FARP System Development We are currently developing a new system that will allow for cargo aircraft to operate as a mobile FARP. This means that in multiplayer environments you will be able to resupply friendly aircraft at any location on the map, using resources carried inside of your aircraft. The cargo and FARP deployment systems represent new gameplay mechanics that will enhance the logistics, support aspects of DCS missions. GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast The MOAB implementation is particularly important as it's the signature weapon deployed from the C-130. At 9 tons, it's one of the largest conventional bombs in the US arsenal. We are working on its drop animations whilst tuning its explosive yield and explosion effect size. Release Timeline The C-130 launch will be based on testing results given the complexity of the module. We look forward to sharing more details. Bye Phant

Track attached. Whenever I fly with friendly AI, they consistently do the dumbest things in a BVR fight - fly in straight towards an incoming missile, make extremely inadequate defense maneuvers and consistently shoot off two missiles and immediately gets shot down. In this track, friendly AI is handicapped with less missiles and lower speed - normal that they all get shot down, but in flights where friendly AI aren't handicapped, they also never survive. Meanwhile, enemy AI flies in, reacts so aggressively and perform some bat<profanity> insane manuevers, dodge a hail of missiles coming in all after completely massacring my friendlies. While it's not absolute, this is more often than not the case. The absolute absurdity of JF-17s in the initial engagement of this track combined with the utter stupidity of my friendlies is astounding. Keep in mind that in this mission the JF-17s were at the "trained" level and the F-16s were turned up to "ace". During their evasive maneuvers, the JF-17s regularly pull 7Gs with fuel tanks strapped on. Cool - fighter planes can and do pull 7Gs in a fight, but what about the friendly AI? Then there's the exchange between the AI F-15 and J-11. The most evasive maneuver friendlies ever do is hit the notch. Then when the missile comes for them, the consistency of the evasive actions they take aren't in any way comparable with the enemy AI. It's not so much a problem of whether or not friendly AI do high G maneuvers to escape missiles nor is it limited to one or two over or under performing aircarft. Blue AI does evade and can sometimes do equally break neck maneuvering. But the rate and consistency at which they do it feels noticeably lower than enemy aircraft - so much so that it's essentially an RNG toss up for how well your wingman will perform today on a given mission. It could also be a problem of blue aircraft vs red aircraft too. You could fly the exact mission and the first time your team gets wiped while trading with the enemy and you barely scratch by a win, but the second time your entire team gets wiped while the enemy team's much higher evasion consistency means they escape all the missiles your friendlies lob at them. This also necessarily means that you are either limited to small engagements that are more or less completely incapable of utilizing tactics, large engagements with zero expectation for consistency, or turning enemy air into dumb targets just so you can replicate the effect of having consistent engagements to predicate further mission events upon.
