How to perform overhead break pattern in a crosswind?
jaylw314 replied to Supernova-III's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
The wind had only a little to do with it. At ~150 knots on downwind, an 8 knot direct crosswind requires only a 3 deg wind correction angle. That makes a difference for big holding patterns, but for a fast plane in a small overhead break it's a small factor. A Cessna 150 in a 20 knot crosswind, though... FWIW, 1 nm sounds a bit too tight. -

Seeing a 55 percent tax would make a customer freak out just the same. I just wonder if it's legal to claim they are collecting a tax that is not actually directly payable by the customer to begin with. Again, I'm not saying wingwing wouldn't increase the price by just as much across the board to cover the tariff they already payed to import it, because I'd expect they would.

An update of all radio presets is now in internal testing. Just a bit more consistency across all missions, a fix for this issue from M01 plus named presets in the ARC-210. Yeah, I saw the exact same thing. The unit used as transmitter was trying to sneak behind a mountain. Gave him a jolt to gain good Line Of Sight, should be good now. Yup, another case of the actual transmitter unit being in the wrong place, good catch! All fixed internally and now in internal testing. I can't give an ETA for an update, hopefully soon.

In game empty weight is 19899 In game the Litening+empty weight = 20357 (difference of 458lbs) litening should weigh closer to 467lbs In game Sniper+empty weight = 20538 (difference of 639lbs) Sniper+pylon should weigh 446lbs One of the biggest selling points for the Sniper was the reduced weight and aerodynamic design. Extra information sent to NineLine.

I've done a handful of test flights in DCS with the Super on a 9800X3D and 5090, so far it's performed very well. The one and only issue has been a visual pause that it either overcomes or leads to a freeze and crash. IL2 has exhibited the same issue. Chief suspect: NVidia drivers.

SirPueo started following MIM-14 Nike Hercules SAM System
-
This mod adds a basic MIM-14 Nike Hercules system with multiple accompanying structures. The missile currently uses a conventional warhead due to limitations in remotely accurately modeling high yield warheads in DCS. The mod contains custom 3d models and some basic livery variations for the MIM-14B/C, a static launcher (I may make and animated launcher, but for now the missiles are always in the raised position), accompanying radars, control trailers, and ancillary structures. The missile's flight model has been built on top of the vanilla DCS SA-5 system, adjusted to follow the unique flight profile and tuned to approximate available documentation. Much more information and additional images of the components of this mod can be found on the GitHub repository. DCSNikeSAMs - GitHub How to Install Download the latest release from GitHub https://github.com/SirPueo/DCSNikeSAMs Extract the Nike_Hercules file into C:\Username\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\tech NOTE: I'd worked on this mod earlier this year and didn't intend on releasing it, but I've had some time to finish up to a point that I feel is usable. I've seen there have been some other working on similar mods, but seeing as how discussion on their threads has died down, I figured I'd release my attempt at such a mod. I'm not sure how often I will upkeep this mod, but hope that its similarity to the vanilla SA-5 system's files will allow it to work in future versions of DCS.

That is not what the OP that I responded to was asking for. He wanted ED to lay out how the ED was going to handle things if the whole situation irrevocably falls apart. That's completely different. I agree that it makes me uncomfortable that ED didn't have any sort of disclaimer after the dispute started, but, as with my contention in my OP, if they did then Razbam could have gone after them for potentially having harmed their sales, so it was a no win situation. In any legal situation the first thing the lawyers are going to do is tell the company to SHUT THE .... UP! Razbam apparently ignored their lawyers or got really bad advice, because saying anything publicly has way too much risk (either by accidentally saying the wrong thing or having your words twisted and used against you). You're assuming ED didn't attempt to solve this by other means. RB claimed many times that ED wouldn't communicate with them, but lo and behold a settlement agreement was reached so apparently that wasn't true. Where did RB's postings get them other than contradictory information being in public (even if their statements were narrowly true at the time they were posted, it doesn't paint them in a very good light either).

GeoS72 started following Keybind Missing: ICS Mode Switch
-
The keybinds are missing for the Intercommunication System (ICS). Specifically, the ICS Mode Switch - HOT MIC, ICS Mode Switch - PTT, and ICS Mode Switch - VOX keybinds do not work. My controller can bind to them however, nothing happens when placing the switch to those positions. The ICE Mode Switch - Down and ICS Mode Switch - Up keybinds work without issue. For the record, I bound the Up and Down keybinds.

This makes zero sense. How does ED telling customers what the agreement says about maintenance and development of the Razbam planes, show a lack of good faith and that ED planned for the settlement to fail? By telling people this information, customers would then be partially empowered to hold ED accountable for upholding their part of the agreement, which would just increase the pressure on ED to follow that agreement. So telling people can reasonably be seen as a sign that they are not afraid of this scrutiny, which is true if they acted in good faith. The only way that telling people could have legal repercussions would be if they violated a part of the contract that says that they have to keep things secret, but it seems almost certain that the party who insisted on this extreme secrecy is ED, not Razbam. Is it really correct to leave customers in the dark for 8 months about an agreement, while selling these modules with zero information on the sales page of what customers can expect in the future, and while leaving those who already bought the modules frustrated and in the dark? And is it really correct to make the DCS customers suffer for a dispute over on the military side of ED, in the first place? And was it correct to immediately escalate the situation by withholding payments from Razbam, rather than first attempt to come to an agreement, so the impact on innocent developers/sub-contractors of Razbam would be minimized, as well as the impact on DCS customers? And Razbam has apparently made a bunch of claims that if true, paint ED in a very poor light. I do find it peculiar that ED is not even willing to go on the record to dispel (or validate) these statements in ways that do not use dodgy language, but that do not divulge any competitive secrets. For example, while the payment amounts are a competitive secret, the fact that ED is paying third party developers like Razbam based on module sales is not at all a secret. So ED could state that they either have made all the required payments (so far) as part of the settlement agreement, or state that they haven't, without ever having to divulge any actual secrets. That way they would show accountability for their own actions.

How to perform overhead break pattern in a crosswind?
razo+r replied to Supernova-III's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Double crosswind correction. After first break, you are obviously too close or too far. By applying one crosswind correction, you'll fly the correct track, if you double it you'll fly further outward/inward, giving you more space for the second turn. Or simply adjust your bank angle depending on your needs/wind direction. -

Mission 4. No QP-A on Left (no QP-B and QP-C)
ASW replied to ASW's topic in DCS: P-51D Debden Eagles Campaign
It's a very interesting and long mission. It lasts approximately 1:40 hours. Everyone returned to the base except QP-A. Perhaps he fell during an attack on an enemy airfield. Unfortunately, near Kenley Airfield, right before landing, there was a crash on the desktop. In screenshot 334, COBWEB returns over Freestone. And crash log. dcs.log-20250731-222414.zip -
I'm surprised no one has mentioned adding this beauty! Devs, can we get the AGM-114R9X, also known as the "Flying Ginsu"? Pretty please with sugar on top! I believe every MANPAD should be taken out with the Flying Ginsu. Let me head off the excuse generator. Here's a brief video overview of it working. If you can develop the F-35 from white papers, then this should be viable!

Landing the Mustang without nose into the ground
Dragon1-1 replied to ex81's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Here's a hot take: don't brake. Stick in your lap, throttle to idle, and just keep it going down the runway. If you did a nice three pointer, you won't need to touch the brakes until you get to taxi speed. Warbirds slow down pretty well on their own, especially on grass. -

GeoS72 started following GeorgeAI Additional Function to RF Missile (AGM-114L)
-
I have a recommendation with all of the new GeorgeAI features incorporated in the Jul 23 update: I noticed the ability of GeorgeAI to lase a target when de-WASed by short press right on the GeorgeAI panel. Again, that is while the CPG has nothing WASed. Would it be possible to add the same "lase" command while the RF missile is selected? See my screenshot as an example. In this example, the "DESIG AGAIN (Designate Again)" function would be similar to the "Laser On" function when the AI is de-WASed. This would force the CPG to lase the target and send target data to the RF Hellfire before a launch. A short press to the right would allow the CPG to momentarily lase the target again for a firing solution. For those who need a graphical reference, this is the option that I mentioned above. When flying in a multi-crew cockpit, I would often ask my human CPG to redesignate a target to ensure the AGM-114L Hellfire has accurate data. This is very helpful after evading incoming missiles or negotiating terrain to a different location. Cross-referenced from this thread: GeorgeAI and AGM-114L Lasing and Fail to Fire Problems
