HFXLegion started following Incorrect/unrealistic method of guiding anti-aircraft missiles
-
Currently, the S-300PS and Patriot air defense systems in the game have an unrealistic missile guidance system. In reality, many systems guide their missiles according to the following principle: during the main flight phase, the missile is guided using command guidance or track-via-missile (TVM), switching to SARH a few seconds before reaching the target. In the game, however, all such air defense systems use SARH (semi-active radar homing) throughout the entire guidance trajectory of the missile. The current implementation of TVM does not involve switching to semi-active radar guidance in the final stage of flight. Is the D9 the best kept secret in Warbird Simming?
Kang replied to Stevecat's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Not so sure about it being much of a secret, but the FW-190D9 surely is one of the most capable German planes of the war. Probably a lot less guesswork and what-if involved in the module as well, compared to some others. While I haven't had the chance to give it a spin myself yet, I always thought, though, that the F4U in its tactical employment could be considered a bit of a Pacific FW190. That might sound bizarre, so let me explain: they are both quite nimble, mostly in roll and not in circle radius, they both excel at going fast and climbing away from danger, and they both boast devastating firepower, compared to the sturdiness of their respective targets. Overall I find the warbird experience in DCS a bit lackluster on the whole, though, especially considering its comparably high step of entrance. -
I'd agree but ED needs to support flying boom and drogue based refuelling in a single aircraft first.

I think @SUNTSAG has something like that in his mossie campaign?

If I may, while the current Tu-22M3 is missing weapons, I'd personally suggest a mid 70s+ Tu-16K-26/K-26P [Badger-G Mod]. It's a staple Cold War aircraft and probably the aircraft most missing from the Kola map in a Cold War setting (the Tu-22M3 was only introduced there in the late 1980s). It has a diverse payload which, in the case of a mid 1970s and beyond K-26P/PM, includes anti-ship missiles (KSR-2 [AS-5 Kelt] and KSR-5M [AS-6 Kingfish-A Mod 3), anti-radiation missiles (KSR-6MP [AS-6 Kingfish-B Mod 3 and KSR-11 [AS-5 Kelt]) and conventional bombs. The model would be incredibly similar to an H-6D, as used by the PRC and Iraq. This also has the ability to carry anti-ship missiles in the form of the YJ-6/C-601 [CH-AS-1 Kraken], (which is essentially an air-launched version of the HY-2 [CSSC-3 Seersucker] missile we already have) and conventional bombs. Speaking of export customers, Egypt also used the Badger-G (though the K-11-16 version, which didn't have the KSR-5, only the KSR-2 and -11 + conventional bombs). The model is also pretty similar to not only the original Tu-16 [Badger-A] conventional bomber, but also the Tu-16P Buket [Badger-J] and other electronic warfare versions (the P also being based on the Kola Peninsula during the Cold War as a strike escort). This only leaves the Tu-16K-10-26/K-10-26P [Badger-C Mod] and Tu-16RM-1 [Badger-D] as the main variants missing, though these have a substantially different nose, accommodating the large YeN [Puff Ball] radar, which can take full advantage of the KSR-5's missile's range (something Rubin-1K [Short Horn]- equipped Badger-G's can't do, which is the version most similar to Egyptian Tu-16s and Chinese & Iraqi H-6Ds). Again, these 2 were also stationed on the Kola Peninsula during the Cold War.

Weather mod v1.9 for DCS
bandit648 replied to bandit648's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I will look at updating this into my me_weather.lua. Tempest's mod hasn't been updated since 2022 and DCS has added many changes to that file since then, so I wouldn't recommend using it.- 375 replies

Weasel started following GBU-54 Laser/GPS JDAM

I was out in the Mossie today, which I'm hoping one day will get AI Bill, i.e. a navigator. What struck me was that a script could be a really cool interim solution. What I was thinking of was a script that would: On a button press, advise the ID number of the next waypoint, it's heading from your aircraft, and estimated time to arrival at the waypoint based on the current ground speed. To keep it simple, for that to be a message on screen On a button press, to select the next waypoint, no need to display it On a button press, to select the previous waypoint, no need to display it Whilst it was the Mossie that got me thinking about it, it would also be useful in other multi-player aircraft, e.g. Huey, Hip, Hind. Apologies, my scripting skills are pants. Does anyone already have this as a solution or could put it together?

how to have two or more tankers in the same group
buur replied to Joker Shadow's topic in Mission Editor
If you simply copy the plane to a parallel course a couple of feets to the side, the formation seems quiet stable. Copy to a lower racetrack seems not so stable. The issues with the call signs will be there and unfortunately there are no board numbers for identification. But I think that is the best you can get at the moment from DCS. Hopefully ED rework the tankers one day. attack on Iranian SCUDs.miz -
Aqil Huseynov started following MiG-17F Liveries – Red Star Simulations

Hello everyone, Red Star Simulations is excited to share our progress on a range of liveries for the MiG-17F. Below is a list of possible liveries currently planned (subject to change), and we’d love to hear your input. Which paint schemes would you most like to see included? Are there particular historical operators, squadrons, or iconic designs that you feel are essential? We’ve also included a preview of several work-in-progress liveries that are already in development. Your feedback will help us decide what to prioritize moving forward. – Aqil Huseynov – The Red Star Simulations Team Soviet BM (two red lines on fuselage) Soviet Camo Chinese PLAAF (Standard) BM Chinese Aerobatics Team East German BM - Early (old roundel) East German BM (new roundel) East German Camo - Fighter Bomber Livery (fictional on MiG-17F Lim5) Polish (Standard) BM Polish Camo - Fighter Bomber (fictional on MiG-17F Lim5) Czech MiG-17 (Standard) BM Czech MiG-17 "Red" Bulgarian (Standard) BM Bulgarian Camo Albanian (Standard) BM Vietnam BM 2047 Vietnam BM 2019 Vietnam Camo/BM 2011 Vietnam Camo 2072 Vietnam Camo 3020 "Col Tomb" Indonesian (Standard) BM Indonesian Aerobatic Team Black Indonesian Aerobatic Team Red Cambodian "Red Lightning Bolt" BM Egyptian (Royal Standard) BM Egyptian Nile Valley Camo Algeria (Standard) BM Algeria 257D Camo/Sand Iraq (Standard) BM Syrian Camo Syrian BM Yemeni Republic (Standard) BM Yemeni Republic Camo (based on Syrian Camo) United Arab Republic (Standard) BM Israeli Camo (based on Syrian Camo) Angola Camo Nigeria (Standard) BM Nigeria Green Cuban (Standard AS) BM (fictional on MiG-17F Lim5) Cuban (AS) Camo (fictional on MiG-17F Lim5) US "Have Drill" Camo (based on Syrian camo) Randy Ball 1613 or 1611 Will Ward "Psycho Ward" (BM = Bare Metal)

SA-22 Pantsir-S1 immune to 20mm PGU-28 SAPHEI
AndrewDCS2005 replied to AndrewDCS2005's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep IRIS-T SLM C2 takes ~100 20mm for a kill (launcher and radar are ok). I might continue gradually testing various A2G weapons against all new assets, will let you know if anything. Using this opportunity - thanks again for your work and enriching the DCS world! Had a nice visual experience at dawn flying past Iskander takeoff and the contrail lighted by rising sun, it was cool! -
@Calvin.Pimax In order to help trouble shoot the crashing issue I simply enabled quadviews within PP its my understanding that they overwrite the mbuccha quadviews. I was expecting to fly around at 30fps but wanted to see if it would crash. to my surprise I was getting the same FPS as with mbucca's QV 1) I dont know why its working now 2) I havent figured out how to replicate the issue yet 3) This seems to have stopped the constant crashing will keep testing this Thanks!

SA-22 Pantsir-S1 immune to 20mm PGU-28 SAPHEI
currenthill replied to AndrewDCS2005's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks! Looks like the low-armored assets are having a bit more protection than I intended. I'm going to re-calibrate all the remaining low-armored ones (Pantsir, IRIS-T SLM, M142 and M1083) to better reflect their intended protection level. -

A simple mod to add wing mounted guns (6 x .50 Cal) to the TF-51D. Includes a variety of ammunition options based on the P-51D by ED. Installation into your main DCS directory (note, this mod breaks Integrity Check), typically: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Bind the additional Weapons Trigger command and enjoy. Download link: DCS TF-51D Guns Mod Intention is to help those who may be considering a warbirds module make a more complete assessment before committing and to have some additional fun with the free TF-51 module, no plans to add additional weapons or gunsights, etc. at this time.

Safety Request: Telemetry flag when the player aircraft is destroyed
Kang replied to skydenzy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As hilarious as I would find the news report about somebody having been thrown through the wall by their fancy sim rig, I think this should be done, yes. The event flag quite obviously is a thing in DCS already, it just needs to be routed out to the whole export business. -
