I know this is an ancient thread, but just an update on this ... I fly a mix of both US and Russian aircraft. I have my default units set to Metric, only because I started flying in DCS in the Su-25T and Su-27 and I've never changed it. I've been flying the F-16 recently and unless I am flying at 20,000 metres I assume that the aircraft automatically defaults to feet. Is that a correct assumption? So has something changed in recent years? The only time I really notice it is in the Mission Editor where everything is in metric, but I can do a fairly accurate conversion in my head.

That's right, at night cities should make the surrounding sky glow and the bottom of clouds above it visible

There's never a need to reinstall DCS, a full repair is basically a full reinstallation. You could try one thing rename your DCS folder in Saved Games. If that doesn't help, just rename it back. Have you excluded DCS in your Anti-Virus solution? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Me too, for example for the Viggen I have: I had to number the campaigns, to have the 3 built-in ones show up first, and the remaining User Campaigns are on cronological order. Another example, the Mi-24P: the Phantom: The Hornet: the MB-339: well, you get the idea

make night sky more realistic, including milky way
Archangel44 replied to nir's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The glow of city lights, realistic stars, nebula, the galactic center, aka "Milky Way" and possible meteor showers ( Falling Stars ) would be very cool. -
Thanks, I will retry it tonight and let you knew how it went ... on the original video I missed the message that I had to start the engine already, I tought that I was still on the preparatory phase. I do use a keybind for the starter, which also opens the cover first, taking advantage of my HOTAS which allows me to bind a sequence of actions to a button, like this: BTN H3U /I /O /P /H Starter_cover_open Starter /R Starter_cover_close which means: Hat3, Up button, alternate action none (/I), main action: On Press do: Starter_Cover_Open, followed by the Starter (which is held until button release). On Release do: Starter_Cover_Close

On also keep the user campaigns I download in seperate folders. They are never touch by DCS unless I perform a repair. So that's strange. Anyway, I also keep them in a mod manager to have full control. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Hi thank you all for your comments. Yes, MAXsenna the "Save snapviews" checkbox in the settings is checked. Well, virgo47, even if missions can be done in such a way they remember snap-views, all of my missions are made by me, except the tutorials, so if they are made by me, those missions should keep my Snap views, even if said mission set in a way that remember snap-views... Let's say I play a mission I made. After finishing it, I do a Training mission, complete it Then I load the very same mission, and often my Snap views are gone, mostly the zoom level of the default front view..... Go figure....

Hey, would you mind sharing your code. I looked at the github you shared but the code there isn't the best documented. Im trying to get it working with my PFP 3N.

Yeah wasn't great for me, got the ground stutters. But I didn't do much testing and still had mb QV running. So I just uninstalled PP and went to 1.36. then it was fine.

People place high expectations on the dynamic campaign, but I'm sure many will be disappointed, and others will point out a ton of flaws. It's never going to be good. I bought the C-130, and just the fact that it simulates well and takes off and lands makes me happy. Load management is a separate aspect that I didn't even expect at first. I bought it and don't regret it. I hope other cargo aircraft come out in the future!

Finally I could watch it on a bigger screen. Your starter switch cover is closed, ghus the starter switch won't work, if you use a keybind for it. Before the texts that are visible in the video, this one should have appeared: "Open the cover of the starter switch [124] and press the starter switch until the engine runs smoothly. [123]" (Numbers are for me internally) Your engine however is not running. Throttle might need to be a bit more open, hard to say from the far.

make night sky more realistic, including milky way
Kang replied to nir's topic in DCS Core Wish List
In my opinion the most important change to night lighting concern twilight hours. Right now DCS has a distinct point at which it 'officially becomes night' and the cockpit lighting goes from one set of affairs to the other in the blink of an eye. -
Ahhh good to know! Thank you. I don't need a screen because I fly in VR only. That's good news. If I'd known sooner, I probably would have ordered it along with the Ejection Handle, which I already received :). I'll wait a bit. It might be useful as a keyboard for many models, even the C-130J :).

Yep. This is how it works , but in such a situation you manually change the skin to the summer/spring or desert period (if available, for this truck not).

Not just the sky, but city glow is also completely absent. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to lighting at night. -

have to say that I agree with your sentiment @NineLine You just nuked the validity of the Post-VAEO statement You ask about us understanding ED's position, but do you actually understand your customer's position? Because the way it's presented now seems is that ED grants us even less protection than their 3rd parties

Mission 5: That's not something campaign makers have a lot of influence over, really. They can try to mitigate some of the issues with AI through clever use of waypoint special commands etc, but in the end it's up to ED to fix.
-
Well, sort of. I always generate a new directory for a new campaign to store all campaign files in that new directory. However when DCS files are regenerated DCS tends to store all campaign files in the same main campaign directory for that aircraft. As a result DCS detects and displays these campaigns twice and a manual campaign directory cleanup is required. I tried to use a mod manager for this which didn't work. Not a big issue but manual cleanup is required.

Free Mi-24P Campaign : The Dawn Of The Soviet-Afghan War
Raffi75 replied to dggoofy's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I was going to write about this tomorrow, after finishing the entire campaign, but since the topic is already on the table, I'll write a few words today. One thing that doesn't quite work as expected is the AI wingman's behavior. I noticed during the campaign that the AIs could take off on their own, at different times and in different places, and disappear from the airport while taxiing. Later, they would reappear in the air and perform their tasks. I suspect these are errors related to the DCS itself, not specifically related to the campaign. dggoofy also mentioned this. Despite this AI behavior, the missions themselves ran smoothly and were consistent. Well, maybe except for the first attempt at mission no. 5, where I had a night tour of the Afghan skies because nothing happened. The second time, everything worked fine.
