And one that seems to be a common one in threads like this. Firstly it would seem unlikely the RB/DCS relationship is truly gone that the IP for the modules will just be handed over to someone. Whether the code was given away or bought from RB, it is still a business decision for DCS or one of the external developers whether to take it on or not. Mostly will they ever make more back in sales than it costs them in reallocated/acquired resource to take a module on or not?

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. One of the reasons I bought the A-10C II was becasue of how terrible the autopilot for the SU-25T is. Half the time the autopilot for the SU-25T can't fly in a straight line when you tell it to (keeps banking back and forth instead of flying level), it overshoots waypoints and then makes a whacky back-and-forth set of turns to get lined up to the next waypoint, dives down and then pulls up when you engage the dam thing (which will fly you into the ground if you engage it too low), etc. In other words it flies like a pilot that's had too much vodka. I thought for sure the A-10C was going to have a better autopilot than that. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that the A-10 can't even try to follow waypoints. I mean sure, it can actually fly in a straight-and-level line every time you ask it to so that's better that what the SU-25T can do. It's just that for all it's faults the SU-25T at least manages to try get you to the next waypoint (if it doesn't fly you into the ground first.) Meanwhile autopilot on the A-10C doesn't even know what a waypoint is, much less how to get to one. I really don't care why the autopilot on the A-10C can't fly waypoints and I'm not interested in playing the blame game here. I was just hoping that there was some kind of fix or mod or workaround. Thanks for the reply.

I guess you call it the HSI when you have the default right CDU page on the screen. Anyway I was doing a basic waypoint exercise to get familir with navigating and the HSI doesn;t go to the third waypoint. It should be noted that the waypoints are made in the Mission Editor and not on the fly like in the Flight Plan area, just following the points to make sure I can get around in the helo and whatnot. It doesn't seem to want to follow the points after the second one. I was going to do a track, but this only happens at long distances, and not short distances (which I was doing in the track), so I can make a track, but it'll be too long, so if you don't mind I can do one, but not sure how long it could be.

First of all, you never have a guarantee of hitting your target. It's expensive to fire at a target area with rockets. It's more intimidating, psychological warfare, and if you happen to hit something, you can only celebrate. Simply put, you need to know the effective range of the rockets and calculate the distance to the target from which you should fire the salvo. Raising the nose improves the rockets' trajectory. They don't lose altitude as quickly. They fly in a parabolic pattern instead of a flat plane. In real life, there are also corrections for atmospheric conditions, but I suspect you don't need to do that in DCS. So, for example, the rockets' range is 4km, you check the map for a 4km circle from the target. You fly on course to the target, arrive at firing range, raise the nose slightly 30°, and fire. Mission accomplished.

Indeed. I will fly my Strike Eagle and Harrier until the last possible moment. And after that last possible moment, if they are unusable, I'd like to see some ED love come my way as a kind of "apology". But I can't imagine what form that would take. A beer would be nice.

Anybody else still getting this? Had it happen twice last night. Sorry, track or anything to use to show it.

Yeah, that's a huge assumption and not one based on good evidence. The MiG-21 is still here and is older than all of them. It's one thing to expect updates and new things, but we're really just asking for them to be made available and usable. There was absolutely no hope we were ever getting the MiG-19S since RB flip-flopped on that actual promise for years. But, that doesn't mean I'm willing to give up the -19P just because it's old. Same with the Mirage 2000. Even the older versions of the A-10C and KA-50 are still here. No one is wanting free updates to their capabilities and content, they just want them functional.

Scared of what? Because of a name? The map has not been pulled from the store. That means it was not in Razbam's power to do so, and should tell you everything. Cheers! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Not really. The Harrier is the oldest of them (and only the original A-10 is older in terms of full fidelity fixed wing DCS modules) but also had a significant amount of work done on it a few years back. Then comes the Mirage 2000, which again had quite a big rehash after a few years if memory serves. And the F-15E is no age at all and seemingly a solid foundation if someone did want to take it on and try and finish it.

How to perform this type of attack?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
You don't. You practice at a target range, and then memorise the firing parameters. -
You are probably right with that, but I find it amusing how it seems to create discussion volume like nothing else, for something that is mostly a sideshow.

I seriously hope that ED finally fixes its business model and, in particular, the contract scheme with 3rd parties, as this is in fact ridiculous (so far). I am not even remotely confident that Razbam's modules will last through 2.9.X, let alone into a propective 3.0 future (ED doesn't even make a promise past 2.9.X). Effectively, that means dead modules. If we consider how much time is invested into learning a module, getting stick time and onward, then it is time poorly invested if one is to figure "despite our best intentions, it is what it is"... I really hope that third time's the charm for ED here, otherwise, it will become harder and harder for me to solidify expensive hardware investments (and continued sim support), if I'm to find out that future product lineup will shrink even more. This is not good at all!

Here is a tip if you want to do computer target bombing in f14a/b If you see the diamond flashing constantly and cannot designate, don't think that it is the computer loading In fact it is telling you to move the diamond downward to negative AoA or dive down the nose. It is at then you will find that the diamond is no longer flashy, and can designate target Heatblur didn't mention this in the manual, would be pretty confusing

Are you using an axis for your brakes or using a digital input like a button?

I know it's obvious. Raise the nose of the aircraft to about 45 degrees and fire the rockets, but my question is how to ensure they'll land on the targets. How do I calculate the exact moment to fire at the target? Does anyone know? Moment 1:05

After a successful landing and rolling down the strip, I`m afraid to use the wheelbrakes. Even a soft touch ends up nose down on the ground. Has anybody a solution so I can stop smooth ?
-
The nav signals are all over the place. When I am north of the carrier, it broadcasts S, instead of an R. Half the time, the signal is accurate; in some cases, it gives you the opposite direction. They really need to look at this issue, as radio navigation over the ocean (without F10 gps) is a key attraction of this module. At this time, it is completely unusable.

They may be dead to you but not for many of us who still fly them and would gladly continue to do so in DCS.

Same here, just did a quick test on that.
