There is always that 1% of people, in everything, that have no morals, or, just a plain chip on their shoulder, that do these kind of things. They probably have no life, friends, etc., you know what I mean. They take enjoyment out of ruining things for other people. And all it takes is a small handful of these sad human beings to ruin the enjoyment for the rest of us 99% who actually care and have good morals. It's one of those 'facts of life' that suck. Try not to let your anger overshadow the enjoyment you (we) get from flying DCS BS, because if it does, then they win.2 points

ArmA has such feature where if you shoot at friendlies they start shoot back... would be very nice feature to have same in DCS. One TK could always be just a mistake... if it continues you should be taken out by your own defences.2 points

The best solution to the problem is to get a dedicated server release done ASAP. Make sure to include the feature that allows a server administrator to give others administrative privs like kicking and banning. Even better, would be a trigger that would automatically kick somebody who had more than one teamkill. Nobody can be on 24/7, and the "reporting" method that is being used now takes time. Meanwhile, you have had 20 guys join the server and all of them have had their gaming experienced ruined for the day by one person.2 points

I am happy to present my second and last product of this winters holidays, the scenario Red Snow, a Russian battalion sized offensive operation against German forces. I call this a scenario, because it actually includes 3 different missions of the same operation, each heavily randomized. http://cid-f33d8b1019e6f4ac.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/RedSnow.zip Alternate: http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=64&file=1004 The basic features are: -Large scale scenario of roughly battalion vs. company size forces. Might be quite performance intensive on weaker computers. -Includes 3 different missions of the same scenario, Direct Fire Support, Flank Guard and Rear Area Attack. -A random selection of one of three different enemy defensive setups, each being a unique approach, almost makes this 9 missions total. Additionally there is plenty of randomization for non mission critical units making each try play different. -Includes a multiplayer version of the scenario for 6 players. -Features detailed ground operations including recon units and artillery. Units will often reposition on the battlefield. Defensive tanks will mostly fight from hull down battle positions, making them hard to spot and even harder to kill even for the player. -Radio calls of ground units (copyright @Gunship!) How about the Ka-50 was never designed to be operated long enough in one mission to ever come close to reaching the lifespan of the laser. It's also possible the laser receives routine mtce during down time. You guys are flying it as if mtce is not a concern... just keep rearming and heading off to blow stuff up as long as you want. Well, as you now know, the machine has limits. :)1 point

DarkWanderer your post has me thinking, if there is a NAT problem then ED's master server logs will not show anything wrong. They will show us hosting a server on port 60k something... but I can't understand why the port would be translated if an appropriate forwarding profile has not been set up on the router, especially with a DMZ up. And especially if the WAN side port is randomly selected. A mystery!1 point

DirectX 11 should help with this even more. They are adding more mutiprocessor support to it. I looked at some presentation slides of it. The benefit of this is that even apps not coded for multicore will benefit. It's also supposed to backwards compatible with DirectX9/10 generation hardware. There is no quick and dirty way to make an app multithreaded if it isn't built that way from the ground up. I'm guessing we won't see this for a while on this game.1 point

The other, and I believe bigger, load that Vista distributes among processors is DirectX. Thus the reason changing affinity noticeably improves BS under Vista.1 point

Like I said, the framework is there. We've been told that in future iterations a dedicated server option is possible, likely to include the things you've metioned, cause like I said banning features are already present in the script. What I am more concerned about is the present. The tools we have are improving, there is possiblity for 3rd party designed interface to ban and we have the IP logs in the temp files. If people police each other a little bit and report actions on the server's forums we can keep the idiots out. Overall I am pleased in the direction things have gone since Lock-On--as far as server hosting goes. I look forward to seeing what surprises are in store with future iterations.1 point

ED has left us with some neat tools to help in the moderation of multiplayer servers. Track files are automatically generated, so if I hear about this TK'er over on our forums I can simply watch the track file, find the person and then find his IP in the server.net log. What I do need from players is to post over on our forums when this is hapening. I do hang around the server quite often but I cant always be there--my wife would killl me... lol. There is also some neat framework to ban players in game that was provided by ED. All we need to do is build an interface to work with it. Its possible that kicking and banning people will become very easy in the near future...1 point

I noticed a slight FPS increase by using this mod! I made a mission with a MiG-29 flying in con layer (cca 10500m MSL) and recorded a track with default FC smoke. Then I installed this mod and played back the track and FPS increased (from 74 to 83 FPS). I must mention I used built in FPS counter (Ctrl+BkSpc).1 point

Заметил одну непонятку - вот сдесь: http://www.airwar.ru/weapon/avz/x25ml.html в ТТХ ракеты Х-25МЛ написано что скорость полёта носителя должна быть 600-1250км/ч. Значит ли это, что КА-50 не может использовать данную ракету из-за нехватки скорости для соблюдения условий на пуск? И на этом-же сайте ни слова не сказанно про X-25МЛ в составе вооружения КА-50.1 point

По поводу пункта 1. Если все-же имеется желание самому сажать 15-ый, всегда и с первой попытки, могу предложить след. прием. Подвешенное вооружение и ПТБ сбрасываешь перед началом захода на посадку. В баках горючего должно быть мало (2000 по прибору). Подходишь на скорости ~120 (по прибору, ~200 по "нашему") на, визуально, 2-2,5 корпуса с-та до аэрофинишеров (хороший ориентир) глушиш "двигло". Выравниваешся, и начинаешь "шмалять" из пушки пока БК не кончится... одновременно держа тормоза. Я таким "макаром" сажусь всегда и с первого захода, останавливаюсь обычно в начале стартовой 1-ой позиции... "Вулкан" - хороший тормоз! З.Ы. Желательно остановится левее или правее от края взлетной, иначе места на разворот может не хватить... а заднего хода нет.1 point
