I've made a few simple training missions for myself and I thought I would share them with anyone that might be interested. I did these so I could practice with either a specific weapon, mode, task, or different types of threats and to be able to quickly redo it. They all start in the air, generally right before weapons employment. Hopefully they will be of some use to others that are learning the ropes like me.:book: Share your creations :smilewink: Night Flares and Tanks.miz Practice Helo Attacks.miz Practice engines out landing.miz SAM Hunt.miz Night FAC Practice.miz Ammo Depot.miz MK-82AIR practice.miz CCIP Bomb and Guns practice.miz NIGHT 6 mavs 6 tanks 1 pass.miz 6 Mavs 6 tanks 1 pass.miz River run popup gun.miz Night bridges X 4.miz Land at Senaki.miz Practice Air Refueling.miz Smoke Rockets.miz2 points

Here is my latest singleplayer mission, "The Bear Came Over the Mountain". Some of you might have played a Beta version; thanks for your help with tracking down the crash bug to my system settings. The attached, "Final", version has improved timings, altered JTAC tasking and, above all, detailed, tactical voice comms for player, OP commander and Stryker leader roles. To summarise: - This is a half-hour sortie that starts in the air, at Angels 20. - The player leads a 2-ship tasked with escorting a Stryker convoy en route to defend an isolated Blue Observation Post that is under threat from an imminent Red armored assault. - The mission was inspired by footage of A-10s supporting infantry in mountainous terrain in Afghanistan; this battle takes place around a contested valley pass in the Caucasus mountains. - Ground combat is plotted in some detail (driven partly by the player's actions) with a 26-man Stryker team named individually after the mission author's high school classmates. Tips: - Use your wingman, both for datalink target i/d and target prosecution. - Respect the SA-9 engagement envelope - Maintain SA of targets, and prioritise. Threat prioritization is the tactical "essence" of the mission. There is an early decision point and either choice you make will have consequences. - At exactly 30 minutes from mission start you will receive a Success/Fail message from ground units via radio. - Accomplishing all mission goals is relatively easy for the intermediate-to-advanced DCS A-10 pilot but avoiding all Blue casualties amongst ground forces is not. There is one way to approach the mission goals that, if properly executed, will result in a Blue victory with zero friendly casualties. - The mission rewards competent use of both Mavericks and CBUs while under threat. - Use of JTAC is optional. The Predator is helpful under certain circumstances. - Make sure you alter the incorrect default NET settings in the TAD screen to 01/01 so that datalink works properly for both JTAC and wingman data. In general I do not intend to build scenarios in the ME that start in the air, or even on the runway, being a bit of a purist, but glitches in AI flight members' behavior on takeoff and climbout have frustrated my attempts at ground launched missions and I await the next patch to address this. In the meantime, as I say, this mission is a good half-hour workout in Maverick and CBU deployment, JTAC and wingman interaction and tactical threat prioritization. Good luck, have fun and please post comments. (Thanks go to WarriorX, Apples and Audacity for realistic voice comms) The Bear Came Over the Mountain_Final.miz2 points

Don't know what more can be added to this thread, the standard procedure seems to have been followed to the T, Russian aircraft have been chosen, they've been compared unfavourably to US planes, US planes have been given the usual token seal of BS pwnsh'p, desperate responses of non US X-wing's have been banded, laughed at, hmm'd at, a challenge in the virtual skies has been thrown down, boc boc joke, check, the art of fighting without fighting response, more boc boc, then the classic just wait till the future line. Does it really matter that much which is best. Having a fave in banter is fine but the same old Fxx pwn's all cos my internet daddy told me is getting stale. We need a new direction guys, its not even worth getting popcorn anymore. How about not comparing length and lets go for girth instead. :D How about, if it flies and shoots, lets like it.2 points

Wow! The Libyans have set up their radar exactly like in this video uploaded in 2007! Even the trucks are in the same position relative to the radar, And the tracks on the ground are identical! I didn't know the libyans were into war reenactment. :D (also strange tomahawk, guided by a cursor, I'd say its more likely an AGM-130) (this post was in no way intended as an insult against anyone except the one who reuploaded that clip on youtube with a false title. There's enough misinformation in this and most other conflicts as there is, thank you.)2 points

I just tested this, and Markpoint Z is indeed placed at the calculated weapon impact point. It's pretty cool, you can see it in action yourself: 1. Turn the CDU steerpoint dial to "Mark" (instead of Flight Plan or Mission) 2. TMS aft long to set the steerpoint as SPI 3. Make sure the TGP is up on one of the MFDs and set to A/G. 4. China Hat forward long to slave the TGP to the SPI. 5. Go to CCIP and drop a bomb or fire the gun, and watch as the TGP points at the calculated impact point. Wait a few seconds and see your bombs or shells impact nearby! :pilotfly: Also interesting to see that Markpoint Z is at the calculated impact point, but wind or general inaccuracy will tend to make the bombs/shells/whatever hit slightly off. Cool! :D --NoJoe2 points

No, it should not. The slip ball indicates whether you are flying "clean" through the air, and flying in a crosswind does not mean you are slipping. What you are experiencing (I think) is a classic case of terrain/air confusion - we humans are very used to using the ground as our reference for movement, but when flying that's just not the case. You are moving through a volume of air that is also moving with respect to the ground. If the air moves perpendicular to your plane of motion, flying "straight and clean" through the air will cause you to drift with regards to the terrain. This is one of the "bastards" when you go through navigation training at flight school, since even if you carry a computer you are expected to know how to calculate this manually (and preferably without a calculator too). Best way I found to think about it when I was in that situation was to just forget the ground - I'm not flying on the ground, I'm flying on moving terrain. Below are two Windows Paint (oh yeah!) examples that I hope should indicate what happens, with the black boxes being the terrain. As you can see in them, if I want to reach the point at the end of the yellow lines I will need to set a course that corrects for the wind - in example one I need to set a course left of my waypoint, in number 2 right of it, in order to move the purple True Track such that it intersects my waypoint. This does not mean I need to sideslip - remember, sideslip only regards the air itself, for that you can completely forget about the terrain. You are compensating for the entire "road" moving, so to speak.2 points

One tip I notice when you enter your target zone start out at a high altitude, lets say 15 k. Tell your wingman to attack with mavericks or GBU and he will stay at 15k. What ever your altitude is when you call for attack he will stay even if you go down. Unless he has to use guns or CCIP. This way you can keep him out of harms way. Actually with some practice AI can be real effective.2 points

Export of MFDs: handled by DCS directly. Switch inputs, touch controls: TouchBuddy, HawgTouch, Helios Virtual instrumentation (working altimeter, VVI, HSI, etc.): Helios You can flip "virtual" instrumentation pages using Touchbuddy or Helios (unsure about HawgTouch), but as stated above - since the MFDs are handled by DCS directly, you couldn't display them both in the same physical screen space, because there's no function to swap display configurations on the fly from within DCS itself.2 points

Hi to all. This pics are from FC2.0 and above Kerch airbase. This is small experiment and i`m happy to see all Crimean airbase again. All Crimean airports are here but... :helpsmilie: What we (community) have for now = Work fine: Takeoff Landing Landing aproach points - MFD Rearm MFD show all that airbases Roads, rails and rivers (texture) Runway textrue F10 map work F11 view work We don`t have = Not Work: Airports shown on the map - mission editor Roads, rails and rivers shown on the map - mission editor (if we some vechile use for "on road" they jump across the Strait on the nearest road) :) No communication with the command tower - radio ***FIXED*** No buildings and any other structure on whole Crimea ***FIXED*** If someone can help i`m sure all pilots will be a happy to fly above Crimea again. Personally I would be satisfied if we can fix editor problems (for mission makers) and we can put some structures around airports. We don`t need all that buildings (vilages, towns...etc) to spend our PC resources. I know what ED programers said about deletion Crimea but is there any chance to get at least a functional Crimean Airbases only? Best regards. HawgTouch is a simple light-weight framework which allows you to create your own cockpit panels for DCS-10C. The software is bundled with 2 MFCD's, a UFC panel (Thanks to jeffyd123 @ ED forums): Included profile ShowcaseProfile.xml which demonstrates tabs, scaling and latest additions Version 1.25 changes - Fixed a bug where keystrokes of Rocker Switches weren't sent - Fixed a bug where keystrokes of Two State Switches weren't sent - Fixed a bug where keystrokes of Three State Switches weren't sent - Fixed panel closing and tab switching crash - Added a "drag" button to the top right, to drag, click and hold the button - Optimized code and image handling - Profile parsing improved, now showing detailed exceptions if profile is illegaly formatted - Two State switches now support multiple types: - On/On - Momentary/On - On/Momentary Take a look at the "TestPanel" tab in the ShowcaseProfile.XML to see how to assign switch behavior - Three State switches now support multiple types: - On/On/On - On/On/Momentary - Momentary/On/On - Momentary/On/Momentary Take a look at the "TestPanel" tab in the ShowcaseProfile.XML to see how to assign switch behavior - HawgTouch now ships in two executables. x86 and x64 Version 1.2 changes - Fixed bug in ClickButtons long press. Now working - Added support for tabs - Added panel scaling mechanism - Added audible clicks option - Better keypress engine, no more flashing HawgTouch now supports tabs. At least 1 tab must exist in every profile. Once a profile is loaded. A tab control box appears which allows you to switch between tabs. The tab control box can be latched to 9 locations of your chosen monitor. This is done by specifying 2 parameters in the profile XML <LatchTo></LatchTo> Available parameters: - UpperLeft - UpperMiddle - UpperRight - MiddleLeft - Middle - MiddleRight - BottomLeft - BottomMiddle - BottomRight The tab control box is also dragable. <MonitorID></MonitorID> Specifies which monitor the tab control box will latch on to. To get the ID of the monitor you'd like to latch the tab control box to, click on the "Monitors" link on the main HawgTouch window. It will display your local monitors setup. Sample profile XML with 1 tab and 1 panel: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <Tabs> <LatchTo>UpperLeft</LatchTo> <MonitorID>2</MonitorID> <Tab> <ID>1</ID> <Name>Test</Name> <Controls> <Control> <Name>Up Front Controller</Name> <PanelImage>\Images\UFC\ufc-main-panel.png</PanelImage> <X>80</X> <Y>10</Y> <ShowTitleButtons>true</ShowTitleButtons> <SizePercent>100</SizePercent> </Control> </Controls> </Tab> </Tabs> Supported controls in 1.1: - Click Buttons - Rocker Switches - Two State Switches - Three State Switches HawgTouch is fully "customizable", allowing you to use your own skins and graphics in any size you choose to make. Setting up exported MFCDs: 1.HawgTouch comes with a default skin in which the MFCD "transparent" zone is 400x400 pixels. With additional 186x146 pixels for the bezels. Therefore the MFCD's rendering in your multi monitor setup LUA file should be to 400x400 pixels to fit inside the frames. This is my multi-monitor setup: (1x 24" @ 1920x1080 and 1 x 22" @ 1280x800): _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('My_example'); Description = 'Two monitor configuration'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 2050; y = 105; width = 400; height = 400; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 2650; y = 105; width = 400; height = 400; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center2. Now you will need to set up the keys in DCS A-10C control settings which are mapped to the MFCD profiles in HawgTouch. HawgTouch comes with 2 MFCD profiles which are configured to the following keys: Left MFCD OSB1 through 10 - Left Control + 1 through 0 Left MFCD OSB10 through 20 - Left Control + Left Shift + 1 through 0 Right MFCD OSB1 through 10 - Left Alt + 1 through 0 Right MFCD OSB10 through 20 - Left Alt + Left Shift + 1 through 0 Here is in-game screenshot of the controls binding: You can set any key combination you want. Here are the key shortcuts: (Made identical to TouchPal for easier transition) {BACKSPACE} {TAB} {CLEAR} {RETURN} {LSHIFT} {RSHIFT} {LCONTROL} {RCONTROL} {LALT} {RALT} {PAUSE} {CAPSLOCK} {ESCAPE} {SPACE} {PAGEUP} {PAGEDOWN} {END} {HOME} {LEFT} {UP} {RIGHT} {DOWN} {PRINTSCREEN} {INSERT} {DELETE} {LWIN} {RWIN} {APPS} {NUMPAD0} {NUMPAD1} {NUMPAD2} {NUMPAD3} {NUMPAD4} {NUMPAD5} {NUMPAD6} {NUMPAD7} {NUMPAD8} {NUMPAD9} {MULTIPLY} {ADD} {SEPARATOR} {SUBTRACT} {DECIMAL} {DIVIDE} {F1} {F2} {F3} {F4} {F5} {F6} {F7} {F8} {F9} {F10} {F11} {F12} {NUMLOCK} {SCROLLLOCK} You can mix all sorts of shortcuts for your liking. Most will work but I can't gurantee crazy combos since I haven't checked it myself. Creating your own panels: HawgTouch gives you the liberty to create any panel you find useful for your simming pleasure. Take a peek at the TestPanel.xml file for information of how to use the different controls HawgTouch supports. With time and by request more complex controls will be added! UFC bundled in 1.1 (Thanks to jeffyd123 for the image works!) NOTE: The key commands for the UFC are not set! Once you set your UFC key bindings in-game, open up UFC.xml and fill in the KeyCommand slots! My setup: Download: HawgTouch 1.25 x86 [1.03MB] HawgTouch 1.25 x64 [1.03MB] Extract anywhere. In this version the last known position of the panels is not saved. You will have to manually set it to the specific panel. To help you achieve that a new button has been added to the panels which shows the current windows X/Y positions. Once you are happy with your position you can type that data into the panel XML and it will be launched in the position you saved. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are running any Windows version with UAC enabled (Vista and higher) and you are running DCS A-10C as Administrator you will have to launch HawgTouch as Administrator aswell. Orelse the keystrokes wont be sent to the game. You will need .NET 4.0 to run this so if you don't have it installed make sure you run a Windows Update or download it from here : .NET Framework 4.0 Download Tested on WinXP 32/64, Win7 32/64 Enjoy! A fictional Canadian Forces skin pack for DCS A-10C. Version 1.0.0.0 Notes: Contains two skins for each Canadian squadron currently in DCS A-10C, a two-tone grey, inspired by the current CF-18 Hornet paint scheme, and one all-over low vis grey scheme as worn by many tactical CF aircraft over the years. Each skin has authentic squadron tail art, and is finished in authentic CF paint colours and marking styles. These skins also use the game's serial generator for the last two digits, I used 1317xx for commonality with the fictional "Green Pixel" camo A-10C already in the game. Extras: 1) Spelling errors in Canadian squadron section of logbook corrected, due to space limitations, 439 "Sabre-Toothed Tiger" squadron was shortened to 439 "Tiger". Apologies to 424 squadron 2) New "Operational" squadron shoulder patches to replace the heraldic badges already in game. Any fighter pilot worth his salt will tell you that heraldic badges, although perfectly ok for blue blazers, are too snooty for flight suits. Less formal operational patches show esprit de corps and individual squadron flair, as well as history and tradition. 3) Canadian Pilot Textures: Canadian OD flight suit textures on both the cockpit pilot and the ejected pilot (different 3D models). Individual squadron patches can be chosen within the installer. Due to ED using a single pilot texture file for all A-10C pilots you can only have one type of pilot skin active at a time. However, if you would like to change your pilot to a different squadron simply run the installer again and choose a new pilot skin. You can even pause the game, ALT-TAB out, run the installer, go back into the game and your pilot will be different. Takes about 30 seconds. Known issues/shortcomings: There is an error with the serial number generator in DCS A-10C, any 7 will appear as a 6. Hopefully this will be corrected in a patch. Canada puts the whole six digit serial on the tail, and the last three digits of the serial on the nose and wings. As DCS A-10C is coded right now you can only put numbers on the nose, tail, and main wheel fairings, so the wings are missing the "Buzz Numbers". Unable to put flight suit patches or the left arm pocket on the ejected pilot skin as it uses a mirrored texture for both arms. Credits: Textures by jocko417 Installer by Bonedust (Big Thanks!) Since we don't have the sniperpod, and I haven't the information to integrate it, I was considering creating the MidgetPod Mod. The midget would have the following features: *Attached to SniperPod with reinforced duct tape *Feed your midget on rearm refuel *Midget has read the manual.. so those who haven't can lean out and ask him, instead of asking in MP *Midget will give earlier warning of incoming missile than RWR, with spreading wet shorts indicator *Midget will point out the targets for you at 360deg.. midget has no gimbel limit *Midget has 'number of Mavericks fired' feature with suet on face indicator *Midget will have full physics for trees and small arms fire at low altitude. Feedback for current or additional features is appreciated.1 point

Until then, give me more rep :D or try these steps that I will try to remember from memory. Do everything normally. When all materials are assigned, press "M" to open up the materials. Then click on the material that you have assigned. One of the plugins on the right side, click the "Make Cool" button. A new set of properties should appear in the material menu now. Use the pulldown selection to select either "default" or "concrete". (I cant remember which one is there, I think it is default now". Under the Maps section, assign the values that you want. The useable options are "Specular Level", Diffuse Color, and Bump. Be sure to change every other value to 0. From there you should be able to export it by doing file -> export.1 point

I honestly think if you're finding it easier to aim without the PAC, that you're doing it wrong :). Are you deploying speedbrakes on your gun runs by chance? You shouldn't be for PAC to work properly. Either way, you should post a track of a gun run with PAC enabled, as I really can't fathom how anyone could think that aiming without it is actually easier :). EDIT: Upon closer reading, I see you're engaging multiple targets on a single gun run. I can see why PAC could be a disadvantage in that scenario. However, if you're targeting individual targets which require very accurate fire (like tanks), then PAC is absolutely indispensable IMO.1 point

I'd say you've answered your own question. OC it a bit and upgrade your GPU. Best thing I can suggest, 560 would be a great addition. Mate just bought a 570 and it's superb. I don't know much about AMD CPUs so I'll leave that for someone else to answer. I'm looking forward to trying Cliffs of Dover on my system. Maybe see what yours performs like and ask this question again after it's release. Hopefully in the next week or two we'll see the next A10 patch, that'll be a telling moment for many people, I think, with regards just how much performance we can expect to get from our systems. I'm fairly confident ED will come up with more patches in the near future, not only addressing bugs but also ironing out the performance of the simulation. I just really can't wait for the BS patch...1 point
