I'm not sure if it's a TV problem or DCS problem, but I'd guess tle latter. Below you can see 3 TacView files from this same mission, this same position. First part is from my local TV, second is server file, third is my friend's local file. This same missile is highlighted. 1. It falls short of target 2. It's tracking completly different target 3. It hits correct target. The main question is - if differences occur only on TacView, or if that differences happend in-game and me and my friend would watch that missile on F6 view, would see different missile behavior?
-
I don't have VR, so only flat screen. And the problem apears on Caucasus map (didn't check other maps)
-
First part - correct - TRK files save just inputs of the player and simulates all behavior, so one error in saving inputs will change behavior of the plane on whole flight. Second part - not correct - TacView saves all telemetric data and all objects (planes, missiles, bombs) behavior is saved 1-1 and are much smaller then TRK - this same mission in TRK is 265 MB, while in TV 42,2 MB. Yes, TV misses some data about cockpit interactions, but IMO ED should merge these two systems and save telemetric data for objects behavious and cockpit interactions for the rest.

Difficulty getting laser designator to fire
Foka replied to melchionda's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
No, you can't reset. When laser is burned it's out of order for good. You have to land remove TGP and load a new one. -
Couple Questions on Hornet - Velocity Vector and Master Caution
Foka replied to dburne's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Usually on left DDI you'll have message about the cause. Probably it will be unlocked wings or flaps (or trim) not set up for take off. -
If only there was some kind of... manual...

Difficulty getting laser designator to fire
Foka replied to melchionda's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
No. There is a limit of total burn time, I just can't remember how long it was. -
Hi, Zuni rockets Mk 71 it's a type of rocket that may have different types of warhead. What type of warhead is in DCS?
-
Thanks @QuiGon for the clarification. Indeed transponder in military planes work different that I thought, and I still belive that current implementations is good enough for a pilot and for an AWACS.
-
Oh, you're right with Mode 1 and 2 - it's military, but it still is for controllers, not air-to-air interrogation. With Mode 4 - you're probably right, but IMO implementic all features you described above would be game breaking, because ~90% of online players wouldn't IFF as friendly. (My opinion is based on fact that I bearly play SP... some test and simple trainings on ME, most of my time I play online).
-
I can't agree with you. AFAIK IFF is strictly on Mode 4 and it is implemented. Manually setting codes for IFF wouldn't be a game-wise. It could work in some kind of strict hard-core-milsim groups, but won't work on open servers or casual players, and if you would introduce Mode 4 programming most of players wouldn't do it and all bricks would appear as foes. Modes 1, 2 and 3 are mainly in civilian use, but can be used by military planes to ID by controllers. Wide described use for modes in military is - Mode 1 to identyfy mission type, Mode 2 to identify unit, Mode 3 to identify aircraft. In situation we have a data link I don't see need of A-A transponder interrogation. I also never heard of such function in real life (besides TCAS, but never heard of fighters equipped with TCAS).
-
I don't know what JF17 has, I don't fly that module. I can't find any reason plane would need be a receiver of transponder codes other then IFF. You have impemeted Mode 4 interrogation in Hornet. In other words - what fuctionalities are missing? What transponder should do inside DCS, and it doesn't?
-
Ok, how do you imagine using transponder in DCS alone? Plane-to-plane comms? What would you like it to do? It does exactly what it should, simply combat aircracts are not receivers of these signals (with exception of Mode 4 - IFF - but IFF works fine). "A transponder is an electronic device that produces a response when it receives a radio-frequency interrogation. Aircraft have transponders to assist in identifying them on air traffic control radar."
-
Not true. It does work as real, if you pair it wit LotATC and have live AWACS controller. He can see transponder codes, LotATC also reacts on emergency codes and Ident switch. Without AWACS controller you don't need it anyways.
-
It should work, but there might be some problem. I couldn't change FOV once. Only once, and never reporoduced it. Maybe it was my mistake?
-
I'll give one more advice - DCS can't read on-off switches, it needs on-on signals (in most modules, some modules, some switches can work with on-off). To make it work I use great program - RS Mapper. Using it you can bind to on-off switch keyboard key presses on on-action and off-action separately (and much more, including multiple presses, like with eject action).
-
Do you realise, you should HOLD a release button, not smash it? You need to hold it for 0.5-1 sec.

Track replays constantly do not work properly...
Foka replied to Ballinger French's topic in General Bugs
Well, we have TacView, which records all telemetric data of all objects in the mission. If they connect both systems, and add to TacView information about liveries of the planes, etc. and made it into a replay system it might work. -

Just a DCS things... -
With LotATC and SRS all modes work great - M1, M3, M4, emergency codes, emergency switch, and Ident.

Never exprienced that behavior. DMS alway cycles thru all weapons, and yes, I edit all profiles before take off.
