  1. Quite possibly, and may be because of the proximity of that surface. Try sticking some black tape to the wall to give it reference points. My G2 doesn't like TOO much light. On a bright summer's day (albeit unusual in the UK this year) if I also have my ceiling lights on, I get tracking issues.
  2. As mentioned above, your upgrade problem is probably going to be with the MB. I'm pretty sure it won't support a high spec processor. Take a look at it on the ASUS site. So you'll almost certainly need a new MB. Also, what power supply (PSU) do you have ? It needs to be at least 750 watts. So, replacing MB, Processor, Ram and power supply and adding a 3090 is pretty much a rebuild anyway. What is an RV2 ? Do you mean a Reverb G2 ? I love mine.. I've actually just flown your Sunset Cruise with RAF Tornados sortie this morning in it. Very nice indeed If I were in your position, with the budget to spend on a VR-3, I'd instead get a new high spec build in a modern case with good cooling, dedicated to gaming/DCS and a Reverb G2 for pretty much the same money - or maybe a Vive Pro 2 for a bit more. I've seen the VR-3 Youtube clips and it looks amazing, but pushing those extra pixels in the single threading DCS engine, on the Syria map with lots of AI, that's another matter and I reckon it's gonna be a stutter fest with even the highest spec rigs around at the moment. I have to make compromises with my 5900X/3090/G2 to maintain locked 45 FPS in some complex scenarios, and don't even get me started on the Marianas ! Just my opinion. Others MMV.
  3. If you're seriously thinking about a varjo vr-3, you're definately going to need a top spec rig for DCS. Personally I think even that will struggle with a vr-3 (unless Vulkan makes a massive difference later this year, lol). If you read around the VR forum you'll see that even top spec rigs can't run Reverb G2's or Vive Pro 2's at maximum resolution and graphics settings in DCS with decent framerates and without ghosting out of the box and we've all had to optimise and mod to maximise the experience, particularly when there's a lot of AI in the mission. Have a read of @speed-of-heat's excellent 3090 G2 optimisation guide to get an idea of what's involved. Good luck !
  4. Nice, though note I'm pretty sure your ASUS RAMPAGE IV MB won't let you drop a more powerful CPU into it (which is why I said upgrade CPU/MOBO) ..and then of course the next question is whether your current power supply unit can deliver the wattage required by the 3090? You really need 750 watts+ to cover it and your other components. ..and what about your case cooling ? Sorry, I'm really not trying to put the dampers on your plans. Just relating my own experience. I looked to do the same upgrade late last year coming from a 2080 Super and a I7-6700K. With lots of good advice from this forum I eventually realised that I'd need to replace motherboard, ram and upgrade the power supply and case cooling. With all of that it just made more sence to bite the bullet and build a new PC with a modern case with great cooling to house it all. Your rig may already have the required infrastructure in which case have at it. Full disclosure here - I originally planned to build the new rig myself, then copped out and got a reputable UK gaming pc builder to do it for me. When I priced up the components, I was only going to save maybe a couple of hundy doing it myself as they obviously bulk buy their components...and I'd probably have screwed it up anyway
  5. Just looking at your rig I suspect 3090 VR performance in DCS is going to be throttled by your i7-7800X processor unless you can seriously overclock it. I'm no processor expert but I know a GPU can only render frames as quickly as a CPU can pass them. For a 3090 in DCS you really need single thread performance to be closer to 5.0 GHz or you'll be CPU constrained unless you compromise on graphics settings. If you have budget for a 3090 I think the money would be better spent on a CPU/MOBO upgrade with perhaps a 3080. Just my 2 cents.
  6. If you open FPSVR settings, Advanced, Frames Data Logging, and ensure "Enable Keyboard shortcut.." is on, you can start and stop capturing frame data with RCtrl+F11 while in mission. After you stop this will write a CSV file that you can open in Excel.
  7. Does FPSVR indicate whether you're CPU or GPU constrained ?
  8. Interesting. I've actually had the SteamVR home turned off since last year when I had my old 2080 super card. I was having an issue in DCS where my VRAM wasn't clearing between missions and the only way to clear it was to restart DCS. Even when I did that SteamVR home would sometimes then start glitching and I'd have to restart that too. I turned off SteamVR home and the problem went away completely. I'll certainly give the empty WMR room a try too. I've absolutely no use for the WMR Skyloft and don't appreciate the game advertising that goes on there. Thanks for the post.
  9. Thanks! I didn't realise there was a mouse assistant to configure it. I've just found it on the Elecom website. Just ordered it from ebay ! Thanks again.
  10. That actually looks like a better one than mine on the previous page. Any reason why you put it on the left side of your stick ? Doesn't that make it difficut to reach the finger buttons ? or are you using your left hand ? Can I ask - does DCS recognise all the buttons on the hat ? I can see one still on Ebay..might have to replace mine
  11. Weird. You might try changing the keyborad binds to something else. I've had odd problems like that before. Try running a full DCS repair before you think about reinstalling modules
  12. First place to check is the Kneeboard section of the F/A-18C Controls tab
  13. Just tested your solution this morning and it works perfectly. I really appreciate the detailed explanation and feel like I've got full control of the ATFLIR now. Thank you Sir !!! We could do with that explanation in Chuck's guide
  14. I have a waypoint set at the start of a road I know an enemy convoy will be travelling along. I un-stow the ATFLIR camera and then undesignate twice again for snowplow mode With the HSI I select the waypoint and WPSDG to designate the waypoint. Targeting point automatically slews to the waypoint and shows the designated target diamond. So far so good. Now, although Chuck's guide states that I can now use the TDC to slew the targeting pod reticle, that doesn't work and the cursor is fixed at that waypoint. I castle once towards the FLIR DDI to enter Area Track mode. Now I can slew the cursor with the TDC. I carefully trace the path of the road until I find the moving convoy, place the cursor over the lead vehicle, and castle again towards the FLIR DDI to enter Auto Track mode. Arrrhhh! The targetting cursor pings back to the originally designated waypoint and now I'm cursing at the cursor ! Am I missing something ?
  15. Just got a mail from SystemActive UK offering £50 off new Reverb G2's with controllers - so price will be £545 Coupon code is REVERBG2-£50 to be used at their checkout if anyone is interested Site : https://systemactive.co.uk/online/hp-reverb-g2/ SystemActive were the official HP distributers of G2's in the UK last year when I got mine and they were excellent.

  16. They look momentary to me yes. I obviously can't say for sure as I'm not the manufacturer, but you wouldn't want to use their software to reprogram the keys anyway. Assuming it shows up as a keyboard or joystick in DCS controller options, that's where you'd assign it's functions, like any other joystick or keypad. It does state that it is a "Gaming PC Keyboard" so I'd hope it would use the standard keyboard controller protocol and therefore be configurable in DCS, but again, I can't say for sure. I'm just making suggestions here. Personally, I made my own custom button box with one of these .. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reyann-USB-PC-Joystick-Raspberry/dp/B01CFRYE16/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Zero+Delay+Arcade+USB+Encoder&qid=1620923381&sr=8-3 which is a USB keybord controller, and a bunch of 3 way switches.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M0LXR0L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It appears in DCS controller options as a generic USB joystick and I can assign all it's functions there. It also appears in Voice Attack. Takes a wee bit of soldering but worth the effort.
  17. What about this ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecarke-Keyboard-Mechanical-Keyboards-Programming/dp/B096ZPPGGG?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
  18. It's not an axis no. for Vr Zoom you really want a momentary switch/button which you hold while using it and then release to normal zoom. It's not something you'd want to leave switched on in VR. There are actually 2 VR zooms, the second, Spyglass zoom is a much more powerful one. Ideally, you want a 3-way momentary switch. Push forward for VR zoom, release to normal, pull back for spyglass zoom, release to normal. ..can't you use one of the 4-way hats on your TWCS throttle ?
  19. ..Cable arrived via UPS today (with no enclosed instructions to return the old cable). Took 5 mins to replace the old one and, wow, now I can plug into any USB 3 port on my x570. There's a power button on the new connection dongle but I haven't had to press it - I already have the G2 power cable plugged into a switched, surge-protected socket next to my rig so I always switch on and off with that anyway. I want to say that the experience seems more stable. I used to get ocasional tracking stutters and they seem to have vanished. Time will tell. Have to say I'm impressed with HP Support, turning this around in 2 days !

    Thick HUD lines

..ah, I spoke too soon. Although the HUD looks much better now, I'm finding that in VR, my DDI's are now too dim to read without zooming in, and that's with max brilliance and contrast.
  21. ..just an aside, you can prevent Windows update from downloading anything but critical updates by setting all your network connections as "metered connections" settings | Network & Internet | Properties (for each connection) | Set as Metered Connection Easy enough to flip on and off

Thanks man! I had no idea that I needed this until I tried it ! Here's an OvGME ready version if anyone wants it Hornet Thin Hud Lines.zip
  23. Agreed, and VR makes it so easy to judge transition. I can really slam the breaks on, drop the collective and be confident that I'll be able to catch it before it falls out of the sky. Great for fast combat landings, which I can't do at all in 2D.
  24. Thanks for posting this mate, Just got off the phone with a very helpful HP support person and he said I should expect my new cable tomorrow ! My G2 currently works fine, but only via an external USB3 hub. Doesn't work with ANY USB ports on my x570 mobo. Be interesting to see if this resolves that, and if the preformance is any different. Thanks again.
  25. +1 I was just about to make the same comment. Dropping visible range down to medium with my rig makes even Marianas flyable low in a Huey with little or no ghosting. You really don't need high visible range in a helo so it doesn't impact the experience. If you have a high spec CPU and a 3080/3090 then you can achieve excellent VR frame times, BUT, only after going through the optimisation process. I followed Speed-of-heat's 3090/G2 guide pretty much to the letter, including all hygiene steps and recommended mods and I get 45 FPS locked reprojection in almost all scenarios.
