  1. You will not be disapointed. I recently upgraded to a 5900X with an Asus Strix 3090 and the G2 is amazing. That said, make sure you firstly study and apply all of the suggested optimisations in Speed-of-Heat's post . It is really worth doing, even with your spec. Also, assuming your 5950X is on a x570 motherboard you may experience a problem a lot of us have had, in which the G2 will not work (or will work badly) via some or ALL of the x570's USB 3 ports. In my case it wouldn't work on ANY of them. This is a known issue that HP and AMD are apparently working to resolve with a BIOS update. It's easily solved by using an external USB 3, or installing a USB 3 card. I also invested in a pair of prescription lenses from widmovr (VR optician also do them). These individual lenses are designed to fit perfectly over the headset lenses. Personally, I find these give me a better experience both in terms of comfort and clarity than wearing my specs (and no fogging!)
  2. I wholeheartedly second that @NobiWan . I suffered a whiplash injury many years ago and simply cannot get my head far enough around, even if I twist in my chair, to get the sweet spot in my G2 towards my six without a lot of pain (and I don't even have a fat arse ;). Your Necksafer is an absolute life saver mate. Didn't realise you were up to v2.05, I'll check it out. Thanks again.
  3. *** Version 1.3 – Added unlimited undo/redo levels. Improved Snip! window edge visibility. Updated manual. Last update for a while but please do post feedback and report any bugs. Thanks.
  4. That would be nice, although mine has also been rock solid via an external USB hub, and the G2 experience on my rig is just amazing.
  5. If your Ryzen is on an X570 board you may have USB issues with the G2. Mine wouldn't work with any of my boards USB 3 ports and it's a fairly common complaint. I sorted mine with an external, unpowered USB 3 hub, others have installed USB cards to get round it. Others have had no issue at all. Seems to be a bit of a lottery.
  6. Thanks for the tip, available in the UK now so have just placed an order for the G2 version. If nothing else it will be nice to have an alternate to the original and an option for a closer fit. I do have prescription lenses fitted to my G2 so not sure if I'll get away with the closer fitting version.
  7. *** Version 1.2 Thanks to Backy 51 for highlighting display issue with 4K monitors with >150% scaling, I've addressed and made the following updates Improved app appearance for displays using >175% Windows Text and App scaling (typically 4K monitors and high-resolution laptops). Added Context menu Functions: Undo : Undo last editing action Colour | Choose Colour : pick any colour for selected text/insertion point Highlight Colour: Pick any colour to highlight selected text Background Colour : Pick any colour as kneeboard background Please update from the link in the first post
  8. Folks, I've noticed a minor bug in which the image of the message box which asks "Save changes before changing kneeboard?" gets captured into the kneeboard image. I have fixed this and posted version 1.1 at the link in the first post. To update from previous version , please just delete your KBQuick folder and replace with the new one in the zip file
  9. That's odd. I developed this at 3440 x 1440 and have tried to make is as DPI aware as possible. I've tested at every resolution my card supports and I can't get it to distort like that. I can only simulate that problem if I increase text scaling above 150 % ("change the size of text apps and other items"in Windows Settings | Display). Are you using text scaling at 175% or above ?
  10. As per the pdf manual, pasting from Excel won’t work well. The kneeboard pane is a rich text editor, not a spreadsheet I’m afraid. It will accept tabular data from Word, but I haven’t coded for Excel clipboard objects, they’re a bit beyond the scope of this app.
  11. Depends on how you're importing it. If you're using the Snip! function to capture it, click the top right of its menu bar, where ist says "Normal". It will toggle to "Fit Kneeboard" and then "Fit Horizontal". Try one of those settings and press "take Snip!" again. Instructions for using Snip! are in the pdf manual.
  12. KB Quick is an all-in-one app to quickly and easily create and edit kneeboards, organise them, associate them with aircraft, quickly select and publish them for specific training/mission requirements, and easily re-edit and re-publish them with a few clicks. I realise there are other excellent kneeboard utilities, I developed this one for my own training needs and have decided to share it here in the spirit of DCS forums. Please download from here : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315463/ Features All-in-one kneeboard creator/editor/manager/publisher Rich Text editor (one or two columned) Basic instant conversion to Night Operation versions Kneeboards are managed as .rtf files and can be quickly selected and re-edited Easy association of kneeboards with specific aircraft One-click selection publishes or removes kneeboard image to/from appropriate DCS kneeboard folder Snipping Tool-like, screen area capture directly into kneeboard page Import existing kneeboard images The program is easy to use but I would highly recommend that you give the pdf manual, included in the download, a once-over before you start for detailed usage and configuration information. It does NOT access any DCS World folders other than your saved games Kneeboard folders only when you choose to write kneeboard images. All of its kneeboard data and configuration files are stored in the “KBQuickFiles” folder, which it creates in your “Documents” folder. The software is and will always be free. All feedback is very welcome. Please report any bugs. *** Version 1.1 : Fixed minor bug in which the image of the message box which asks "Save changes before changing kneeboard?" gets captured into the kneeboard image. *** Version 1.2 – Improved app appearance for displays using >175% Windows Text and App scaling (typically 4K monitors and high-resolution laptops). Version 1.4 – Added basic table creation and editing Right-Click and “Insert Table” to create 2,3,4 or 5 column, single row table, sized to pane width. Tab past the last row cell to add a row Rows and columns can be resized by clicking and dragging their edges To delete a row, double click, just to the outside of row’s left or right-most cell to select the row, then cut. 13. I was getting exactly that and it was a sync problem between WMR and SteamVR. Try this.. Go back to the WMR cliff house and bring up a desktop window. On the desktop you should see the WMR portal window. From there bring up "setup room boundary" and select Seating/standing. Then with the headset still on make sure you're sitting exactly where you'll be to fly DCS and allow the seating/standing setup to complete.
  14. oh well, just thought it was worth asking
  15. I struggled to get Viacom to understand much of what I said while I was using a studio mic through a Focusrite audio interface, and that was after numerous rounds of speech training. I assumed it was because of the Northern English accent (Geordie!) which I still have after 30 years away from the place! However, I'm on a new rig now and I'm using a Reverb G2 with builtin mic exclusively. I've done zero voice training on this rig and VA/Viacom understands pretty much everything I say. Go figure. Absolutely love Viacom Pro and never fly without it.
  16. Would that preclude ED from being able to perhaps offer mesh shading as a configurable option with the Vulkan implementation somewhere down the line for those with such devices ?
  17. I was getting exactly that issue with every mission on my old rig with the G2. In my case it seemed to relate to the SteamVR Home environment. I turned it off in SteamVR settings advanced mode and the problem went away.
  18. Found a cheapo handheld wireless trackball on Amazon and have just hot-glued it to the top of my warthog stick. (Hot glue having the advantage of setting totally rigid in seconds and being fairly easy to completely remove - I use it all the time in my workshop for temporary jigs) Ok, looks a bit weird but works well and positioned there it doesn't get in the way of any of my stick controls. The trigger in the loophole is left click, which is nice as you can click while your thumb's on the ball, and there are 2 right click buttons one either side of the scroll wheel. The top buttons are hard coded as escape and enter. Taking a bit of getting used to but I already prefer it to reaching for my desk mouse in VR. The hot glue bond is actually strong enough for me to be able to manouver the stick while holding it by the trackball grip
  19. +1
  20. I was getting that a while back and it was because I had the culling option on in the autoexec
  21. I already have VoiceAttack and also it's Viacom plug-in. I've got so used to doing everything with Viacom that I've never needed to click the comms menu for months and I guess it's made me lazy. I agree VA is excellent and Viacom is the cherry on top. VA is also brilliant for assigning keystokes to 2 and 3 way switches not catered for in DCS options.
  22. My first Headset too, and I had a similar rig to yours so had similar experience. Seriously, if you haven't already, read Speed-of-Heat's thread https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/257819-my-3090-settings-for-my-g2/ and apply ALL of the suggested optimisations, including kegety's VR shaders. They will improve your FPS and allow motion smoothing to lock more often and for longer. If you want a decent experience you'll probably need to run terrain textures at medium and shadows off, and set overall Steam SS at somewhere between 50-70% (So that's 100% on the generic default setting and 50-70% on the DCS app specific setting) Ignore the per eye pixel count it shows as they will be inflated figures as it's compensating for barrel distrotion.
  23. Ah yes, that works many thanks !
  24. I'm having an issue in the Hornet in VR in which my mouse works normally around the cockpit, but when I bring up the comms menu I can't click on it to select functions. The mouse cursor stays as the + when I'm expecting it to be a dot.
  25. ..when you're looking at new MB's be aware that a number of them (mostly AMD but some Intels too) have been reported to have issues between their USB 3 ports and the G2. With my new ASUS x570 MB for example, WMR couldn't recognise the G2 via any of the front ports and although the rear ports would boot the G2, the tracking would fail after a few minutes. I solved that be plugging an external USB 3 hub into one of the rear ports and it works perfectly now. Actually, with that in mind, have you tried using a different port or using an external hub to try and resolve any of your issues ? There's a link on the other sim's forum to a table which lists problem MBs - https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/67575-list-of-reported-motherboards-having-issues-with-g2-possible-solution/
