  1. I‘d say try it. You can easily switch back and forth when booting. I agree that the baseline should be SMT on (unless you have more physical cores than you need). If you encounter problems like frametime spikes, microstuttering etc…. try turning it off and see of it improves.
  2. Eight physical cores are plenty. I have also turned off SMT a long time ago. It didn’t change the performance for me but got rid off a lot of microstuttering and frametime spikes. I think it is the crappy windows scheduler that doesn’t (or didn’t) play well with AMD CPUs. If that is still the state of affairs after the recent „9000“ fix - I don’t know. But I don’t need Hyperthreading/SMT right now, so I just leave it.
  3. Currently I‘m still using the Index, but I very rarely fly in VR at all. Still too many downsides for me. I‘m on the edge of giving it a second chance with a Quest 3. Still hesitant though.

    No FFB???

He talked about centering force. There are no aerodynamic forces on a cyclic, only artificial spring loaded ones (sometimes). Ah, whatever, FFB worked from day one for me. Curtesy of the Rhino and TelemFFB. However, now they have it properly integrated, no?

    No FFB???

This is exactly how the cyclic in a lot of helos work. Just friction and damping. And that is how it feels in a chopper with force trim turned off. Watch some video of casmo, he tells how this is exactly how they preferred to fly the Kiowa. Why is that so hard to believe? What do you need spring forces for in a helicopter?
  6. Danke für die Info!
  7. You're post is not very telling. What exactly is the problem? Maybe give a more detailed explanation. Tobii (with Opentrack) works here with the latest Patch. With Gamehub - I don't know. I frickin' hate this piece of software......
  12. Yeah, when I find something I can reliable reproduce, I'll post it here. Problem is that I was up to make long IMC/Nav flights and the issue always is at the end of an hour long flight - so no useful tracks.
  13. That is, if ATC even answers, which was part of my problem. A general problem is, that turbulances that are barely noticable in the cockpit (the liveliness of the air body in DCS is one of the weakpoints unfortunately), are enough to shut down Airport operations it seems. (Didn't do proper scientific tests on this, but it's currently my only trail)
  14. Awesome Guys! Much appreciated!
  15. Core scheduling is managed by the OS not by the application. And offloading anything to core 0 is a bad habit of windows in the first place. I would have a deep look in what else is running in the background if you have performance issues on a specific core. Possible culprits that can affect performance/smoothness: - Antivirus - Power service - RGB-Software - Monitoring Software just some examples. Personally I would get rid of any service that isn't positively needed.
  16. Well, f..k me! That actually works great. No lag to speak of and Opentrack is much more user friendly than TrackIR. I still need to test in different lighting conditions, but in semi dark environment it works flawlessly.
  17. Impressive Patch Notes! Hope everything works as expected. Lots of Stuff to try out. Much appreciated!
  18. Wow, all the love for the Syria map. Didn’t expect that. Still my favorite map!
  19. @imacken While we're talking 'bout it. Does Opentrack support the IR-Camera that comes with TrackIR?
  20. Thank you for the tips, I will have an eye on that. Even though I never had those problems in the past. I'm using easy comms. (But I had Jester tune in the ATC frequency)
  21. Exactly the Maps and Aircraft, I didn't try..... Thanks for the data point though! I assumed that it isn't broken in general, for that would have caused more noise probably. My troubles were in the Phantom and C-101, SA and Syria.
  22. First! No, really - awesome, guys!
  24. Given that you should easily be able to reach 45 FPS in VR with this setup, I assume you don't want to sacrifice eye candy. From that conclusion the upgrade path is an easy choice. Go for a GPU upgrade. Other than that. If you don't want to save up for a platform upgrade, just for VR, the 5800X3D would be roughly 20-25% upgrade to CPU-frametimes and 64 GB do never hurt.
  25. Awesome! TY
