  1. Some general best practice tips for performance and stability: - Make sure GPU is stable. Remove overclocks if applied. - Set a fixed pagefile in Windows. Recommended 32GB in and 32GB max. - Deactivate realtime Anti-Virus or at least make all DCS-Folders an exception. - Make sure you purge all your shader caches after each game and or GPU-driver update. (FXO and Metashaders in DCS/savegames as well as the GPU-Driver-Cashes) - (bonus) open windows dervices and deactivate the power service. That isn't related to stability as far as I can tell, but it improves performance/reduces stutters. Can't hurt - Don't update to W11 24H2 (if you haven't already) - You might wanna check if an older Nvidia-Driver works better for you.
  2. Awesome stuff! Can't wait!
  3. Looks awesome, that's for sure!
  4. A little bit selfish to link that here, but I think those issues are very closely related:
  5. Please give us the power to adjust those settings ourselves. At least give us a accessable .lua for this kind of stuff. That would be so awesome.
  6. The improvement of the CPU bottleneck is in either scenario. However in VR you are even more often CPU-bound. How often exactly nobody knows except yourself.
  7. I can’t judge that. The 5700x3d didn’t exist when I did my testing. Only thing I can tell for sure is, that DCS benefits nicely from the 3D cache. About 20% improved CPU frametimes as I said. Mind though that this is only relevant when you are CPU bound, which - at least in single player without an overkill of scripts and units - you are usually not.
  8. Considering that you plan on buying a 5090 later, money doesn’t seem to be an impregnable obstacle. In that case I wouldn’t settle for a 5700X3D but get me a 5800X3D. Which certainly would be a meaningful upgrade for DCS in CPU-bound scenarios.
  9. Well, at the very least make a proper backup before you install feature updates. But I think everybody needs to feel the pain at least once (or more in my case ) before learning that particular lesson.
  10. @Akula Sorry I didn’t read the whole thread. CTDs are often caused by the GPU. Are you running any overclocks? Updated the driver lately? Just an unhelpful side note. Since you mentioned Recall, I assume you’re running 24H2 already. A big unforced error in my opinion. Any windows feature update should be postponed at least six month. They almost always cause headaches for early adopters.
  11. At least ATC gives you a phone number to call after landing......
  12. The majority of players plays single player offline. I don't know how many use DCS as arcade shooter, but I'm sure the majority would appreciate more atmospheric scernery - including but not limited to a good ATC.
  13. I think that is because Overclocking has lost its appeal for the most part. It is more an self-serving exercise to raise in the ranks of 3Dmark than actually improving gaming performance. Ever since AMD started to have the bios do 90% of the overclocking by rel. inteligent real-time auto-adjustement. The game was over for the most part. I am (was) a passionate overclocker/optimizer myself. But it's just not worth the effort anymore. Not to say, that there is nothing to gain anymore, but for real world applications the actual gains are meh. Add on top the accelerated silicone degradation - especially for Intel..... I understand that the enthusiasm for overclocking has cooled down a lot.
  14. That's exactly that kind or repeating pattern that made me distrust them. Even if they were en par with the performance, I would currently stay with Ryzen. But they aren't even close. That makes it even easier. Take special notice of the Gamers Nexus video. Even the energy efficiency, the biggest selling point, isn't what they claim. No thanks. Intel is dead to me for the time being.
  15. That's a can of worms we probably shouldn't open (again). My personally opinion in short is that sounds is the sharpest tool to compensate for the lack of haptic and overall sensoric feedback when flying a simulation-game (there - I said the G-word). To hell with realism when it comes to sounds. I want an immersive audio that compensates for the lack of seat-of-pants feeling. I want to get audible feedback for switches flicked, afterburner detent and so on. Even if that is not 100% realistic. I know that this is a controversial topic and that a lot of people probably want to jump me for the above statement. To them: Save your energy, you won't convince me otherwise. My Joy with DCS won't be spoiled (much), if they go all-in with the realism-route for sounds. An option would be nice though. The "hear like in helmet" funtion is a good starting point.
  16. Sweet! I‘m more concerned with inside cockpit sounds though. They were showcased very briefly only unfortunately. But definitely a welcomed improvement. I‘m excited for the full package.
  18. good Job. Looks awesome. I happen to notice that you have Crosswinds. You should upgrade them to FFB as well!
  21. That‘s the actual idea. He‘s selling a kit, that consist of the 3D-prints and all the hardware except the Crosswinds and the motor-kit (which you can order separately from VPforce. The Assembly then runs on the same software as the Rhino.
  22. This. Apart from performance considerations, I simply lost my trust in Intel.
  23. Thanks, that's the quadrillions iteration though. Practice makes perfect....... There is still much more about FreeCAD that I can't do than I can do. E.g. I don't have the slightest idea how to assemble different object together. But I'm confident that everything that I need to do can be done 'somehow' in FreeCAD. And anything open source is a force for good in my opinion, so I give them some slack for an unpolished UI and some bugs....
  24. These of the designs I made for the Crosswinds FFB mod:
