  1. Am I looking at a LYNX on the rear deck of that destroyer, and the RN Had the Wessex, helo, so if we did go down south we would need those, just fo realism, and of course the Pucara and the Skyhawk. There were nocturnal flights by 737's and Hercs. Puma's and Agusto 109's....ok I'm in favour
  2. I am in favour, but at $50 or so a section, it’ll be expensive & if it takes as long as Nevada, I won’t be on the planet that long. Still in favour though
  3. Nice to see it up and running, than you all for your efforts, warts and all (if any) it's nice to see.
  4. As both versions affected I renamed the user folder, (Older_Version) restarted the game with New Mission etc and re-assigned the Fuel flow, collective etc It worked. I then had a User file with only the Gazelle in the Input section. Copied new Gazelle input info into the older version and copied the whole thing accross No idea what I did differently but works for me for the moment I do have quite a few MODS but these are not for the Gazelle. In any case back flying now, hope this helps anyone else
  5. This has suddenly happened today. DCS WORLD STABLE. Amended a previous Gazelle mission in Cacausus map to have some targets. Start from Runway, Just about to take off when Fuel Flow handle suddenly retracts engine unwinds. Had it slaved to Hotas Throttle. Cancelled it, re-binded it, no change runs for a minute or so and lever retracts. Deleted the hotas throttle action - suspecting throttle. Confimred on runway for take off, Tried to take off, uncommanded Fuel flow lever retracts Amended flight to take off engines running from pad, only got the throttle bound to the collective works fine, fuel flow shuts off after a minute or so. Opened a previous mission at Creech, that worked fine last week, Took off from the runway, got down to the cranes and did a turn, uncommanded fuel flow lever retraction! The only change I made this week was to pagefile size to speed things up, So rolled that back to 'best performance' let the pc decide etc Both my versions of the game stable & Beta are 2.5.0 15365. After the roll back, opened another Gazelle flight that I had not used previously, checked the Throttle/Fuel flow was fully forward, sat on the ground for a bit, got up flying, the fuel flow cranked back uncommanded, so I mouse'd it, push forward, It came straight back out of height and time - dead. So whether it has a throttle assigned or not, the fuel flow retracts after a minute or so in both maps, on flights that I've had for a while Any suggestions appreciated
  6. Once again a class series of skins from the master. Pity the RAF never had the money for the real thing. Well Done
  7. Hi Pickle72, Well done for making a decision, that's the hard part. Now enjoy your module, you will get the others in time I'm sure. The Mirage is wonderful, and it can get places quickly. On these large map areas, that helps. We cannot spend all day getting from A to B. It has all the systems you want to manage, Charlie Owl's handbooks are a must, Hope you enjoy it
  8. Caucasus scenery Trees. I was going low and slow in the Gazelle trying to find a target in the woods, did not have lights on in the room and it was getting dark, had a really immersive moment as it took me back to actually doing somthing like this in the real Gazelle, as a passenger many years back.
  9. Have purchased, I'm an off liner, just enjoy flying, blowing things up and playing with the navkit.
  10. For PICKLE72, Regardless.....did you decide yet, we all want to know, y'know, because we have all had to do this at some time, welcome to DCS by the way
  11. I won a draw to get a flight when at RAF Brize Norton, For various reasons I ended up in the left hand seat and was able to convince the instructor that I could follow the basic insturments. Then had 30 minutes of unforgettable flying and following rigidly what I was being instructed to do by the instructor pilot, got so immersed with watching the instruments while all sorts of bells horns etc went off during descent, while he calmly kept saying, ignore that, I've got that etc, that when he said as previously agreed to hand control back, Oh and you'd better look up, There was RAF Fairford runway, and bump, we were down for a roller and back up again. Absolutly brilliant fastest half hour of my life and the best. G-BOAE is now on a pole in the Bahamas....some said my head should be on a pole next to it....jealous
  12. I have both, Harrier for me, better visibility and flexibilty, but short on range, and not A/A. The RAF used to call it 'running away bravely' if you get a sidewinder kill, well done. I would say save up for the Hornet, you get both A/A, & A/G, and consider speed. The Harrier is not supersonic, those maps are BIG, it takes a LONG time in an A-10 to get around. But you need to figure out what your favourite is, ground pounding, tank plinking etc, or A/A combat, either one is built for one, but can do the other, at a pinch, on a good day etc. Hornet was designed for both and still at reduced cost and you get to land on carriers the hard way. But of the two you asked, Harrier IMHO . Spend your hard earned cash wisely, not quickly
  13. Just upgrade to 2.5 latest update, using Hotas Warthog & MFG Crosswind pedals. Take off had my usual turning motions but I felt I had more control once it settled down. I had a wee mission to trash 3 x Tankers heading to Batumi on the road from the south. Caught up with then on a narrow road in the woods on a hillside. For the first time I hit one of the targets with gunfire on first pass and did NOT have the wild PIO’s I previously suffered. I was able to slowly pass over the now hidden vehicles and find a field of fire. Being a rubbish shot took a few goes and almost hit trees, but down to one left. Then I found a possible way to finish, flew out to to the other side of the power cable pylons and hover taxied under themuntil I could see the traffic through the trees. Closed in and nailed the last one just as I had to get the collective up under my armpit to clear the trees.(Been a passenger in Gazelle a few times low over trees, very immersive). Even managed to land cleanly and hover taxi off the runway. I started engines running did not turn anything off. Been in the Wessex when that had Stab Aug failure, pilots earned his pay on that day. Thank you DEVS, I, for one had a blast.
  14. I put a short precis on, I belive the livestream will be posted up on utube after
  15. I came in a little late, Matt was already at the airfield threshold and did an excellent take off and headed up to Abu Dhabi, demonstrated some of the navigation equipment and use of the left MFD for route and flight plan information. The terrain at this point was generally undulating desert, mainly reddish in the sunset and he coasted out about 20 miles to an offshore Island, where there was a small airport, ran that down his right side and next waypoint was one of 2 'Palm island' resorts off Abu Dhabi, coasted in past tankers at oil terminal and went inland to the right of the city to a military airport. The terrain although flat was populated with houses and complex roads, the airfields both civil and military looked well detailed, the civ airports had representative aircraft at them. Smart left turn and described a tilted Z route back over the city to take in the big snazzy hotel with the helipad, did not mention whether it is 'hard' or not, but I'll test that myself, then past the world tallest structure nicely modelled...need a light on the top of that. There was a short break just prior to this as sunset was coming too fast, so Matt did a 'reset time' chopped the previous waypoints and reset himself back on track 2hours earlier....daylight saving in operation. The flight then departed to the North to the tip of the UAE, THis is more mountainous and well laid out, took it up to FL15, and off to the right you could see out to Oman and the Arabian sea. After getting to the tip of the peninsula he dropped down to low level and the mountains gave him and excellent terrain following experience.Similar but different yet than the NTTR. You can see it's different. Much mentioning of the IRAN scenery and mountainous terrain there, thats for later. Descended again back for the landing, busy answering questions and went wide on the approach, did a go around, by hat off to him for that. IMHO the map is worth the money. I have friends who fought in the 70's on the Oman...problem, so I have the urge to get some missions over that side. The RAF provided planes and helo's for that conflict, but not modelled in DCS, I hope this has been of some use
  16. Old Scottish saying, Like a "Like a coo wi a gun", translated, Like a cow with a gun, meaning cack handed,Handless, useless lol

    T-2

Thanks for the honest appraisal. ...I retire in 6 years....so we have some time LOL
  18. The pics are fabulous, good luck
  19. For Joe45 & skilled skinners, this is torture seeing what you guys can do....and not finding a download link, lol
  20. Lovely model, well done, and that's why I like two seaters, most of the time they look better.
  21. Thank you!
  22. For Joey 45, Could you do the IL-76 in RAF Colours as we don't have another tanker, It's just a bit unrealistic to tank off an Il, when I'm usually trying to knock off their hardware. Kinda blows the immersion bit. No problem if your'e busy.
  23. Hi Mikkal, I did the same as you, I could not get the 1.5.8 to update, found the 2.5 Beta, and jumped on that, worked for me too lol
  24. Pleased and surprised to find they work fine. Some buttons not set up on the game, but that'll sort itself in time I'm sure
  25. Will try the updater, or force updates. Had time to think about it on way to work
