Ranger79 Base Objects Pack (Hesco's + others)
flyingscotsman replied to Ranger79's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Yes, I just had a blast, had the C-5's on the Tower side at Nellis, Taxi'd up with the Hornet and thought, Will it fit? Folded the wings and tried to get up the ramp, oops, no crash but did a drive thru at floor level, lol. Could we have a C-5 with the doors closed PLEASE, look so cool a ramp of C-5's. They used to come in at Ascension island, but they were full of beer/cigars/cigarettes and food for the PX! Thanks -
* DCS: F-14 Development Update! Scan, Lock, Fire! *
flyingscotsman replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I would go with the Prowler first, on the spot jamming, usually flies as part of the package and able to dish the dirt to the radar's first. If I recall the U-2 (TR-1) would be more of a stand off jammer doing lazy 8's alongside the action...but far enough away not to get hit. Could you imagine being in a TR-1 with missile inbound and probably rather limited self protection, other than to call the AWAC and demand a priority on the F-15's -
This looks amazing, would love to see this flying, better still, with me flying it. Good Luck

 First attempt, pressed U bar next to the trap, not exact, Full burner brakes off , 96 knots off the end...splosh. OOps

Thanks for the info, could this work for Idle too? Reason I ask is I found the idle action on the slide only got “seen” when retarding. So button 29 works, but to start I have to pass the throttle Into idle and back again, the engine spools up ok. Unlike the axis you cannot reverse the action. This might resolve that

I have to bind the keyboard on some commands. I replaced the keyboard, selecting radios was no good until I reprogrammed the command, and radios, / becomes OEM20 in the list and works fine. Hope this helps

[NO BUG] COLD START - Can't move throttle.
flyingscotsman replied to Turnip's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
For some reason my throttle detention only rcognised as butto 29 when being slid BACK to off, from the idle position. So to use it on start I the have to move over the hump, back once, the cycle agin, HEY it cycles the engine start. No problem. If it was an axis, I could invert it problem solved. But for engine shut down it refuses to play. Odd seeing it’s a single button action. But no big deal I can usu the keyboard to shut down -

Problem installing Hornet's Liveries
flyingscotsman replied to CucoNegron6924's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Your not stupid, but the liveries can be installed in different location. The Bazaar route is 'inside' the game. In saved games, they are 'outside' the game. The idea is that if the game updates and Bazaar gets overwritten, it could be curtains for some of the liveries. So, some time back it was suggested to use, In my case, C:\user\your user name\saved games\DCS Open Beta\MODS\Aircraft\a folder with your aircraft ie FA-18C\liveries...you stick all the liveries in that folder, I have zillions. Some authors tell you to put the liveries in bazaar, fine, I still do that if told. But for extra aircraft such as Markindels He-111. I put the whole heinkel folder under Aircraft. In the Heinkel folder this is a liveies, I stick them all in there. I also back up the whole 'saved games' folder every couple of months. I didn't find it simple at first either -
Thanks Unknwn & big news, got it working now, I have the external Cougar MFD’s. unlike the Harrier which came preprogrammed, this is not. However it’s beta, so hope that will come along sometime later. Very happy with this one ‘out of the box’as it were.

Brilliant, great fun, it just leaps into the air. Fell over an error with key bindings but otherwise a LOT to re-learn and play with but a GREAT aircraft THANK YOU

Thank you for the advice, Bignewy and Unknown, The throttle travel and response is fine, I normally use one of the throttle buttons to OPEN, and the other to CLOSE the speedbrake. That does not work as I expected but I will experiment as per Unknown and do the holds, but as other half has done the cooking, Will come back to this tomorrow, THANK YOU GENTS for the swift response.

BRILLIANT LOVELY AIRCRAFT. However HOTAS WARTHOG, cannot get airbrake to deploy, have tried various buttons on the throttle and joystick. Although they MAP on the input, nothing happens. Did try a couple of MFD buttons, they said mapped, but does not deploy. Also, regarding MFD's does not seem to recognise them, but this is BETA so no sweat. Flaps work using the throttle Otherwise it looks lovely and very responsive.....now time to RTFM a LOT more THANK YOU

Beacon Lights Reflect Too Much of Cockpit Console
flyingscotsman replied to WOPR's topic in Resolved Bugs
Glad I searched for this, I thought I was seeing things, MAN those lights have got to be turned off, thanks for confirming it's going to be sorted. -
Got it working, great a/c skins. There is an FC-3 folder in Mods...duh. But not so easy to spot when I used search in windows because I recalled that there used to be an FC3 folder on it's own.
-
oops, Thanks for letting me know. no problem
-
I'm not finding my FC-3 Bin folder. I have purchased FC3, a search brings up many locations for where FC3 folders are in aircraft such as the F-15. Am I right in thinking it has been ovewritten as the game has progressed and would I need to re-install FC-3. Which may involve much faffing about. I did select a bin from one of the relevant aircraft but that did not work properly. Any steer in the right direction appreciated - no rush. Or could anyone please, put a copy of the bin in the thread?

I took the Gazele onto the Helipad at the big hotel on the seafront. I've noticed some 'flashing' of the terrian and the odd stutter when I took the Harrier out, but early days and it's an excellent starting point,, well done devs. Been through the hollow building and through the hotel at the sea end of the palm....didn't see the Beckham's when I flew past lol
