My list F-4EJ Kai asm-2 and AAM-3, I want to do East Asian senarios, lots of documentation for APG-66 F-4S or UK phantoms AWG-10 is a beast and very well documented. Also VTAS would be very cool. Uk engines jets would have a very different flight model. F-4F ICE or the Greek equivalent (was the Greek plan slated?) F-4 was designed as a BVR platform and with APG-65 it was supposedly quite potent. The people on air quak servers would appreciate it. Might be IRIS-T compatible, some overlap with Eurofighter. Truegrit SME on staff.

I’d love any version of AWG-10. Go on the secretprojects forum and their is probably enough info to do an unparalleled level of radar modeling.

They would have to review it but it’s extremely unlikely they would release it for something in service. Generally you have to to wait decades for a classified system and know what documents you want them to view. Export controlled and proprietary information is worse. I know a few people who have researched WWII jet engines and the government will not release them due to proprietary information. You sort of need to know what you want when you ask. Sometimes things are available in sanitized form and can be requested but not always. -
Now that I think I of it the Mig-29 was never able to fire off its R-27 in the Gulf or Kosovo in-spite of being in position to do so a few times. The Mig-25 on the other hand with its powerful radar was able to fire off its R-40s on a few occasions.

Hey if you remember where you got that could you let me know? I was working on an alt history project and the fact that the Mig is that vulnerable to Vietnam era jammers is a reference I need.

Interesting, I didn’t realize it was physics based. I do know they only used publicly available information to make the radar model though, so I assume they derived the rest. I seem to recall that Heatblur used Ray casting for ground radar but not air to air for reasons I don’t recall. I am curious what improvements they have in store for their future radar models.

I don’t think any radar in DCS uses much in the way of real extensive data simply due to how rare it is on even decades old sets and the fact that DCS radar simulation isn’t physics based and across the board is quit simplified. It’s just a slow slow incremental advance of cleaver devs thinking of new ways to make something that seems real enough. but it’s interesting to read and learn about these things and that’s mostly why I post.

I wrote very twice by mistake. I posted it for interested users. The fact that captor is fast enough that they claim it can use mode interleave is something I found interesting. I have another document claiming this was tried for APG-70 I think and was never really workable, so I was impressed.

https://defensearchives.org/editorials/the-captor-radar very very detailed write up on captor by an engineer who worked on it

Apg-83 has 90% software in common with the apg-80. All we really know about that radars scanning algorithms is this Apg-80 is apparently the link between apg-77 and apg-81 so I suspect it’s not doable either, though maybe I’m wrong. There is footage online of the F-16IN online. Maybe if a block 60 manual ever makes it online. I think a block 70 is a no go as long as the F-35 is a secret.

Mig-29 entered service in 1983. I think your thinking of the Su-27.
-
I’ve always wondered what was the story with that project

I’m curious about APG-63(v)2, but it’s very hard to get any information on it.

F-2, dynamic campaign, more assets for east Asia, J-10. A couple other red aircraft for the homies, about any aircraft from the last 40ish years. -
I *might* have enough for an F1. A lot of permissions would have to be sorted out.

Mig-29 is Cold War enough it could have seen action if able archer went hot.

Lots of things get requested, lots of things get requested a lot, only so many can be worked on at once. The F-15C just hasn’t had its day yet.

Yes, but my point is that’s the reason for the sudden burst of interest. -

On Reddit ED responded to a Super Hornet request post with a “you never know” which set off speculation. -
Being old has its own difficulties. I’m having a hell of a time getting a hold of the Mig-25P manual in the DIA’s custody. And that’s from a 50 year old defection for an airplane that’s considered obsolete.

https://www.scribd.com/document/429057021/F-16-Pulse-Doppler-Radar-AN-APG-66-Performance-1983 We have good documentation on APG-66 too, their are other papers too https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1457409
