  1. Good morning to everyone I recently did a new build with an AMD ryzen 5800x, Asus B550-e gaming motherboard and 64gb (2x32gb cl16 dual rank crucial ballistix).T I did the first tests without resetting windows (just uninstalled intel drivers and installed AMD ones, I know it is not ideal but it was to test and Windows 10 seems to be able to cope particularly well with this kind of hardware changes). Everything seemed good with the 5800x with very high passmark score, higher then the baseline after some tweaking ( After some day, I decided to reset windows and I started to have lower performances so I installed passmark software and checked again, and I was having lower single thread scores (3200 vs the previous 3500+), and the only thing that changed was the windows reinstall. Then I was able to find a 5900x at a good price and so I returned the 5800x. I manage to have better performances then my previous intel build (i9 9900k + 32gb gskill ram), but still the passmark scores are lower then it should be. I did the usual hygiene checks (drivers, bios, uninstalled all asus bloatware, double checked the AIO on the CPU and the thermal paste). But nothing helped me. I compared my results with the one of @Raven (Elysian Angel)which has the same CPU ( And while all the scores seems similar the only two which are not are the floating point math (where my CPU scores at half) and the single thread score. During the testing i observed the temps and the frequencies and those seems to be good (on default settings never excedeed 60 degrees and frequencies up to 4850 in single thread). I tried also to apply PBO2 settings (+200MHZ boost, -15 curve optimizer) and while the scores rised a bit, those two areas (single thread and floating point) remains highly lower then the baseline. These are my best results (not at default settings...elysian did her tests using default settings), with default settings I get slightly lower scores. As you can see he surpasses 40000 total score (mine is almost 36000) and the major differences are single thread (3222 vs over 3500) and floating point (37000 vs 80000). So my last resort is to format windows again... Do someone has idea on which setting or software could cause this?
  2. I sell the Hotas Warthog base and the A10/F16 Grip. I bought it in october as I was waiting for the Virpil base to arrive and I needed a joystick to fly. I bought it at Thrustmaster official store, so it is still in warranty (EU). I installed also the sakajh green spring (softer then default) for easier operation without extension. But I provide also the default one. Price is 150 euros including shipping in EU
  3. Cannot try as my index is RMAed What does this change? If I understand correctly from the patch notes we are able also to lock to 20fps and have the compositor to generate the other 60 frames (in the 80hz setting of course). But is it dynamic or fixed?
  4. Oh yes...that is the option I mentioned...sorry didn' get you were quoting the comment in the file.
  5. Yeah...I know, I discovered this feature quite a long time ago. I was just pointing out that in autoexec.cfg you need to put there yourself. But in graphics.lua in the main dcs world install is there and should be false by default.
  6. Check your graphics lua in the main dcs folder
  7. Dburne, You could use revive to play Oculus games with the g2. I use it with the index and it is perfect. i also configured the service as you said (to start manually) but then I use oculus tray tool setup in a way that when it starts (as I launch it) it starts also the Oculus service and stops it when I close OTT. So if you want to get rid of your Rift S this way you won’t lose oculus games.
  8. Thanks for your explanation... Anyway I tried that on my 5800x but it was just rebooting itself. I found that I was able to just run it a -5 all cores. Tried -10 and some cores -5 but didn’t work. Anyway this way it can reach 5050Mhz on most of the cores. So it could depend from a bad silicon?
  9. This is true love ..... I suggest everyone to hear was victory has to say us. He is an invaluable “tool” to us simmers and I love that a Tomcat pilot spend his own time teaching us. In fact in what he says, and what I experience from the Tomcat flying (especially in VR) are habits and notions which I recall from my flight training in the sf260
  10. So will this work for the Valve Index as well? As it seems dangerous....Is there a way to backup the original settings or we just do have to write down the original settings? Anyway thanks....Seems quite interesting. I cannot try right now as my index is in RMA, but as the replacement will be here I will surely try
  11. BN has the G2, I have the Index but it is currently RMAed and I am waiting for the replacement to be shipped
  12. I think that for this option (use mouse) could be enough to have a totally decoupled mouse cursor...Who (like me) is ok with the head movement can simply untick that option...
  13. Honestly I don't think so... I think the way it is implemented is just a feature to not lose the focus of where the cursor is....I think so because the cursor is moved with an offset that is function of where the user moved it..While without the "use mouse" option it is always centered.
  14. Yeah I understand....Honestly I was sure that "use mouse" was meant for this....but trying it I saw that while the mouse movement is possible independently from the head position the cursor still moves with the head....As stated I use the other option and I will until PointCtrl2 ships.... Now for the OP issue, I am emphatic with him, also if what I experienced trying the option is that keeping the trackball in motion could be enough to easily operate the switches.
  15. I briefly tried yesterday as reported above, and i was able to use the mouse independently from the head movement. My brief experience is that if you keep moving the mouse (I have a trackball near my right leg just for DCS Vr) you can operate the switches. But I am able to have the head relatively still while operating switches. Of course if you swivel the head around things could change. Anyway if things are as bad as everyone here describes how pointctrl (which as stated need this option to work) is able to work correctly? We should have the same issue there. Mine is just a curiosity i have no interest in arguing and controversy. If the people who make use of this option is not able to operate the mouse then fine...something has to be done to solve the issue. I don’t experience this issue probably because my use case is just different, and I just briefly tried it in order to answer here. Yes exactly if I keep moving the mouse I can operate the switches in the cockpit really easily (also with the head not being perfectly still - noone can have the head perfectly still). Of course if I don’t touch my trackball and move the head the cursor moves.
  16. Yeah the 3080 official price should be 719 euros, cannot be found at this price.... Damn miners and scalpers
  17. Using “use mouse” If you move your head without touching the mouse the cursor will move with your head (but if you previously moved it, the cursor won’t be at the center of the visual, it will have an offset from the centre). But if you move the mouse while also moving the head the mouse cursor will follow the mouse movement. I just tried this tonight to answer here.. Also without this option PointCtrl couldn’t work because as already said above, pointctrl it is just a mouse for your PC and for DCS. Anyway usually don’t have “use mouse” ticked, as I prefer to move the cursor with my head. When i will manage to order pointctrl v2 i will surely use it. I don’t have any different version of this option from anyone else.
  18. 3080ti is rumored to have 20gb There-are rumors also about the 3080 super. If they would make also a 3070 ti/super with 16gb it could be very interesting
  19. Yes...as you can see in my signature I happily use a Valve Index and I am in the VR alternative reality since 2017 (rift cv1). So I think I know what i am talking about. I usually use the default head mouse movement, but I tried the “use mouse” option and it does exactly as I described above...with it ticked you can move your mouse cursor (the one for operating the switches and buttons in the cockpit) with your mouse....independently if you are using the radio menu or operating switches in the cockpit. Also if you use the awesome pointctrl you have to do exactly the same thing, as for your PC and for DCS that device is just a mouse ... @milesd and all the pointctrl users will be able to confirm that (i used it and I am waiting to the v2 for buying it myself). Could you try? if you won’t be able to operate the switches independently from the head movement let me know...I will do a video of that functionality for you and for the OP. Yes it does by default
  20. Just tick use mouse in the VR options tab. This way the head movement and the mouse movement will be decoupled Mmm why do you say that? The option I mentioned above has been there for a while... Ticking use mouse in the VR tab is the solution. When using track ir the mouse doesn’t move with the head by default.... So I don’t understand why you say there is a problem.
  21. Your link settings are crazy...try to lower to 1.3 You have a pretty powerful GPU, but raising the rendering resolution raise also the VRAM usage....and your car md is pretty poor in that department for this kind of usage
  22. It was flyable and landable on a carrier in flanker 2.5... It was awesome.
  23. Yeah resize bar is SAM (smart access memory) it is on auto.... I am not sure the rtx 2080ti supports it.
  24. The image quality doesn’t seem to be affected...even at 150mb/s encoding setting.... What worry me is the stutters, ghosting and double vision while moving the head that could be due to the link cable, or the oculus software as it doesn’t happen with the Valve Index despite higher rendering resolution setting (with SS)
  25. Well...I was going mad at this ahahah.... Very well, i did the mission twice, just because I thought I made some sort of mistake
