Benchmark - F/A-18C - Flyover Beirut 1.5 This is a load-heavy benchmark. Flying in a F/A-18C over the city of Beirut, which is the most building dense city in the DCS World. The mission file is enclosed alongside with the corresponding track file. Updated on 2023-03-18 Updated version 1.5. Here are the things happening: 1. Time is sunset with city having the lights on; 2. Strong wind with thick clouds moving; 3. Rainy weather; 4. Inspired by Afterburner, 2 flights of F-14B fly in front of you; 5. 10 CG and 10 DDG lined up along the flight path and keep launching cruise missiles and the missiles fly in the same direction as you -- unlike the movie, F/A-18C is faster than these missiles; 6. When getting near to the harbour, 7 tankers are moving towards you; 7. A super carrier is launching 4 flights of F/A-18C launching; 8. B-52 above perform carpet bombing and bombs exploding around; 9. 2 flights of 3 Apaches taking off from city buildings and may cross path with your plane; and 10. Flight of aircraft taking off at Beirut International Airport and heading south west. The track file, which is mostly hands-off, where the pilot is mostly looking forward and the only interaction is setting the auto-pilot altitude-hold.

Patch notes discussion 10th March - 12th April 2023
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
What?! A sudden patch! Now I have to redo all the benchmark videos! -
I would say something which could be controversial, but I agree some of the above points. This is not an early access module and I would say, to be fair, it is a very feature-complete one too. There are a number of features not found on other modules, both ED and third-parities alike. And as a fan of the plane, it is very appreciative. I tend to agree that the issues presented in the module is very noticeable and then, the changelog for this module is no where to the others, like Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000C, have much more improvements through each iteration. I tend not to speculate the reasons behind but IEF has always present in this forum and has been very supportive. As a very experienced burnt victim who have witnessed way too many patches needing further patches, I would rather wait for a fix which does things once and for all. My humble opinion presented for your considerations.

Patch notes discussion 10th March - 12th April 2023
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
I am not sure but I am running a new benchmark for my A/B tests: 2D ST vs MT and VR ST vs MT. I notice that in the ST version shows smokes from ships and flashes from the ship launching missiles but in MT version there is no such eye candies. 2D and VR alike. Is it possible bug? I guess somebody has already reported this. -
Tacca's NVG mod for 2.5+
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to tacca's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
No problem, this is still the NVG I stick with. If you find me of anything remotely helpful, please let me know. -
Pixel Density on high end GPUs
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to JesterIsDead's topic in Virtual Reality
From the CapFrameX I get later, the MT frame times were much better. Because I trade fps over visual quality. The choice is personal. I just shown how much better MT helps with OpenXR. Also, this was an old setting because the whole scenario has no trees, I then changed the setting of some part to even lower so that some more challenging situation like snowy mountain in Caucasus could perform better. -

RTX-4090, PD is still at 1.0, prefer running at higher resolution instead. -
CapFrameX and MT
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is there a setting on either DCS World or CapFrameX I should use, because I get this: MT: I see the lines but they are unreadable... -

The latest public build crashes on starting a mission flying Su-57. -
CapFrameX and MT

So, I take CapFrameX's cannot capture frame time in MT, then. -
reported MT - Visibility of ground objects through clouds
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to Nahen's topic in General Bugs
VR always had been a better spotter for the Mk.1 eyeball than its 2D counterpart. I think there has been a rather scientific experiment video about this some time ago. -
Pico 4 hand-tracking in DCS?
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to bpremus's topic in Virtual Reality
Well, VD does not have access to the hand-tracking code, so from what I get from the VD developer, it is not possible. I am not sure if one uses the Streaming Assistant. -

Tacca's NVG mod for 2.5+
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to tacca's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I checked and it still works with MT. But it is not in one-circle in VR anymore... Miss that in NVG, the panel text was blurred. -
Strange things happen when I take off
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in DCS: MB-339
Nope, the indicator of the brake seems to be broken. May be it was the parking brake but it did not make sense. No matter what I do, I cannot retract the brakes. -
It was useless, but now, it is terrible...
