JAS 39C Gripen Community Mod
FupDuck replied to whisky.actual's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Hi, I don't have discord. Is it possible to post the download link, or update the first post in this thread? I went to the download link that's posted there, but it goes to a GitHub page that hasn't been updated since March 2023. So I'm not sure how non discord users can get this mod. Thanks!- 520 replies

Really? That would be interesting, because the FAQ that mbucchia wrote said it doesn't work with DCS. He also did say he hadn't tried in a while though... -
I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but when I used to play with my Quest 2, I had artifacts that showed up as a bar of sort of faded pink pixels at the bottom third or so of the screen. At the time, I traced it to a mix of Steam VR and virtual desktop, and noticed the same artifacts in other VR games. It didn't happen, at least as far as I remember, using a USB cable to connect. I would also mention that since I switched to a Quest Pro, I have not seen this artifacting anymore. If you're still using a Quest 2, I would strongly recommend upgrading to a newer headset with pancake lenses anyways. For me, the difference in visual quality, clarity and enjoyment in going from the Quest 2 to the Pro was similar to when I upgraded from a 1080 to a 3090. In case it's helpful, here's all my settings. I get 80 fps solid with this. My specs are in my signature. https://www.amazon.ca/photos/share/iWU0LDhJu4Tv3jK27Kkl6ijrDiUdNjSrskoPluI069Y Hope some of that is helpful! PS I love your stuff!

And chance you'd be willing to post that mission to the user files? I'm always looking for new stuff to do on the SA map! -
Wow this sounds really cool! Am I right in understanding though that this is only available for NTTR?

I would also love to fly alongside this iconic aircraft. It's right up there with the Victor and Vulcan for me!

I know you're not supporting the tool anymore, so I don't expect a fix, but just so you're aware, having CAS sharpening enabled in OpenXR toolkit with a setting over 50% or so results in visible vertical lines in VR. They're most noticeable on "flat" backgrounds, like the sea or a clear sky (and also in the DCS hangar). Noticing this is what had me looking into QVFR because at first I thought it was the turbo mode in OpenXR toolkit that was causing it. Again, just sharing this as an FYI. Thanks again for all your work up till now!

Sorry, which thread do you mean? For me, I get microstutters when I don't have turbo mode enabled. This is basically the main reason I still use OpenXR toolkit. -

To answer your question @mbucchia, the eye tracking check box doesn't seem to do anything. I have a Quest Pro, and eye tracking stays enabled whether this box is checked or not (as long as it's enabled in the headset and link software). I tested it using the debug feature, and just by looking at the sun in game. It's very easy to tell when eye tracking is enabled. The other box for QVFR must be checked in order for your software to work. Without this checked, it's the same as if QVFR is not installed. I hope this is helpful info for your edits to the wiki. While I have you here, is it possible to use the QVFR tool only for turbo mode? I've heard you can disable it for certain programs using the config file, but this doesn't work for DCS. It's that still the case? Thanks! -
Holy <profanity>, really? This might be exactly what I'm looking for! My game still runs best using OpenXR toolkit, but I know it's not supported anymore, so an alternative that just gives me turbo mode would be perfect! Thank you! Edit: I should have read to the end of the page before posting I guess! Well, I think I'll still give this a try next time I reinstall QVFR!

Exact same experience here. I decided to try QVFR again as well, just for the turbo mode, since open XR toolkit is no longer supported. But it didn't seem to do anything. The framerate didn't drop much compared to OpenXR toolkit turbo mode, but there was a lot of micro stutter. It's like it wasn't even on, even though the log said it was. When I uninstalled QVFR and re-enabled OpenXR toolkit, it was smooth as butter.

I'm currently trialling the Anton. I've noticed that the canopy has intermittent flashing on the sides. It's only on the side/rear of the canopy, the part that slides back to open. Is this a known bug? It's quite distracting, and in VR it's giving me a bit of a headache. I was planning to buy this bird, but this will be difficult to live with. Thanks!

I will try yours to see if it makes any difference. What else is different in the file since 2019?
-
But I thought @Clorydric published this years ago: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3306379/ I've been using it since 2020!

Right on! I'm really looking forward to this! Keep up the great work!

From what I remember, the sea darts weren't particularly reliable during the Falklands war, so.... -
Unfortunately it's been like this for well over a year now. I think this was even a problem before Normandy 2 came out ...

Vertical sync = fast -> much less stutter in VR

Sorry for the late reply, but that's correct. -
Vertical sync = fast -> much less stutter in VR

I have it off on. Again, I know it makes no sense that this combination works or does anything at all. Still... Edit: corrected for reality, I thought it was off! -
Vertical sync = fast -> much less stutter in VR
FupDuck replied to Darcaem's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have also found this to be true. Setting vsync to fast in the Nvidia settings improves stability in VR. Like OP, I know it makes no sense, but it works for me too. -
Ah, understood. So by sharing that file, you're sharing ALL the routes you have saved for that map, and your wingmen would have to sift through it to find the desired route. I see how that could be a bit of a pain.

Meta acknowledges bug with OpenXR API layers in v68

Strangely, if you have an Xbox controller connected to your computer, you can use that to navigate this screen as well.
