Interesting!

I would also like to know more about how these files can be modified to correct/change AI behaviour. There's nothing more frustrating than spending a few hours authoring a complex mission just to have the AI not do anything close to what they were programmed to do.

missing info Mossie AI refuses to attack enemy ships

Ha same here. I actually quite like the DCS ME. I just get frustrated when I spend hours making these complicated missions only to have the AI not even come close to doing what they're supposed to be doing. -

Start enroute task. I don't think there's an option for attacking under Perform Task. -
missing info Mossie AI refuses to attack enemy ships
FupDuck replied to Gunfreak's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks, I already tried that. I mentioned it in my post above, although I realize I didn't phrase it very clearly. It's what I meant when I wrote: So yah, for the ones carrying rockets, I set the weapon to rockets, cannon for the ones that only had cannon, etc. Same result. Thanks for the suggestion! -
missing info Mossie AI refuses to attack enemy ships
FupDuck replied to Gunfreak's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi there, I created a mission with 3 enemy ground groups and 3 enemy ship groups. I then created 6 Mosquito groups, and loaded the Mosquitos with either rockets, bombs or cannon, then assigned one of the six target groups to each of the Mosquito groups. So its set up like this: Mosquitos with rockets, set to Anti-ship Mosquitos with bombs, set to Anti-ship Mosquitos with cannon only, set to Anti-ship Mosquitos with rockets, set to CAS Mosquitos with bombs, set to CAS Mosquitos with cannon only, set to CAS In each case, I created a custom waypoint task to attack one of the surface groups, weapon to auto (tried setting to only weapon carried, no difference). Also turned on override AI decisions. The result is that the first two groups in the list above attack all ships (not just the ones they're assigned). All other groups just RTB as soon as they spawn. I tried creating a 7th Mosquito group with all weapons and attack within zone (instead of attach specific group), with all targets within that zone. This group also just RTB's as soon as it spawns. Mission and track file attached, hope this helps! mosquito ag issues.trk Mosquito AG test.miz -
Oh wow thanks! I was wondering what those were, for some reason I didn't even think to click on them! Smh

Hi there The latest beta update says there is now a section in the mission editor to set bomb fusing and other parameters, but I can't find it for the life of me. Can someone point me to it? If this isn't how fusing is set, can someone please explain it to me? I did notice that the bomb descriptions in the loadout editor talk about "turns of the arming vane", but I couldn't find this in the cockpit or the keybind settings. Thanks!

Hey just wondering, has anyone put together an old fashioned Magnum P. I. Island Hoppers skin for this chopper? Looking to get my Tom Selleck on!

Which is exactly what you WOULD say if there WAS a secret base!!! Let the search continue!

Myself, I found the base by eating a plum floating in perfume, served to me in a man's hat.

Very excited about this! Just to be clear, will it be necessary to own the Ka-50 to use this mod? Thanks!

Is your open beta in c/program files? If so, windows considers this a protected directory and prevents changes to files. Try moving your beta install to the same drive as your stable, or to a different folder on c.

Unfortunately not, if the server requires pure textures.

cannot reproduce Search light not working in mission editor
FupDuck replied to Devil 505's topic in Bugs and Problems
I did this, but it only created more of the same unit. I think I've figured it out now though. After creating units as described above, it is possible to change the unit category and type (KATEGORIE & TYP in the above image). I was not aware of this until watching an unrelated YouTube video. So the proper way to create working Searchlights: 1. Add a new ground unit and place it on the map. Under category, choose air defence, and under type choose Scheinwerfer. 2. Click the plus or right arrow as circled in the above image. There will now be two Scheinwerfer units. 3. For this second Scheinwerfer unit, leave category as air defence, but change the type to Maschinensatz. 4. Make sure the two units are close to each other by zooming way in on them in the map. I keep them almost touching, but this may not be necessary. This produces a functioning Searchlight consisting of two different units within the same group. -

Thanks for the reply. Can you please tell me how I add different unit types to create a group? I created a Searchlight and a generator and put them right beside each other, but this didn't work. How do I make them into a group? Thanks. -

I'm struggling with this too, I had been placing generators near the Searchlights, but only one of each. I will try again with three gens. To create a group, do I need to do anything special? Or just place the units close to each other? Neither the Searchlight nor the generator seems to have the "link unit" option. Thanks! -
Well that sounds perfect actually! Those are pretty much exactly the same times I play, and I am also on Eastern time. What would I need to do to sign up? Just go to the discord? Thanks!

This is pretty much how I live my life Excellent! You are definitely smarter than me! Are you sure it's necessary though? Like I said, my power service has been disabled for some time with no discernable effects. Maybe just try it with it off for a bit and see how it goes.

Ha, as I just wrote in the original thread, I've been doing this for the past three months or so with no ill or even observable effects. When I'm not gaming my computer is quiet and cool, using very little power. The power plans I set in Windows still seem to be working, there's just no throttling or stuttering when at high usage. I can't explain it but it works. I expect it has something to do with how DCS deals with power management or something like that because it doesn't happen in any other game I play. Anyways, if you are experiencing regular stuttering every second or two like I was, I suggest giving this a try to see what effect it has. It's a very easy change to undo if you have any issues. Its as simple as typing services.msc in the Windows search bar, find the service called "power", and set it to disabled. I think you have to be in safe mode to do this, so I don't think a batch file will work, unless it includes a reboot command. It's been a few months since I did it though, so feel free to give it a try and see!

Micro-stuttering / hitch & Frametime spikes issue
FupDuck replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in Game Performance Bugs
There's a couple things wrong here: 1. If you open Afterburner, Riva tuner, etc and then close it before gaming, you will not be overclocking anymore. These programs need to be running to work. 2. Killing the power service does not result in the CPU, GPU, etc running at full power all the time. When I'm not gaming my computer is quiet and cool, using very little power. The power plans I set in Windows still seem to be working, there's just no throttling or stuttering when at high usage. If you are experiencing regular stuttering every second or two like I was, I suggest giving this a try to see what effect it has. It's a very easy change to undo if you have any issues. Good luck!
