2.7.16.27869 OB breaking HMS Achilles F12's 3d model
western_JPN posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
After updating DCS World open beta to the current 2.7.16.27869 , South Atlantic Assets' HMS Achilles F12 disappears about 3d model rendering. Mission Editor's Loadout option screen or "Show models" mode also fails to show the 3d model. Only F12 is troubled. Other Leander class ships (F57 and F72 , Chilean PFG-06/07) are OK. Error lines in dcs.log are here. -
Model Request: NITKA sky jump for CATOBAR carrier takeoff training
western_JPN replied to CTR's topic in DCS Modding
Comparing DCS World's new Skiramp object and joey45 's Ground Ramp object mod . A bit different length and gradient. Skiramp might be in the same dimensions of HMS Invincible R05's ski-jump deck after 1989 (not equal to 1982 one and RAZBAM's Invincible object ... perhaps). -
The latest ob patch brings many AI subtypes of Mirage F1 not only flyable module Mirage F1CE. Total Twenty Three subtypes , LOL !!! They are assigned to countries historically operated. COUNTRY=France has 6 , COUNTRY=Spain has 8 ... not so confusing.

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

From wikipedia --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SD_Tempest ART 8032 class tugboat working for Royal Navy is 32.9 m (107 ft 11 in) long. -
Punta Arenas airport's RWY 25 has 9,154 feets (2,790 meters) long , so very enough for modern jet fighters. DCS's AI aircrafts spawned as "Takeoff from Ramp / Parking hot" always taxi to the threshold of RWY 25 to use its full-length for taking-off. Some Air Force's shelters (SA map spot names = F01/F02, R01-R04, HAS_01-HAS_06 / HAS_07-HAS_12) are connected a bit inner from the runway threshold. It causes AI fighter jets taxi back the runway to reach the threshold on the route of .... When an AI is taxing back the runway, the runway becomes BUSY and any other aircrafts cannot enter there. Not few minutes are needed to complete 4x AI jets taking-off. It also makes unrealistic feelings as airport take-off procedures. Modern jets (spawn-able size in those shelters) --- F-16C , F-5E , F/A-18C --- might be able to intersection take-off from the connected places. I've tested my own driving on those modules with maximum take-off weights ..... succeeded safety. I'm not sure that only SA map's rework will bring my wish, or DCS World's core code rework is needed, though. That's my request here.

Road Traffic in Chile drives on the incorrect side.
western_JPN replied to JABowders's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think caused by the Exclusive choice of DCS World core road traffic codes .... isn't it ? IRL, South America mainland (both Chile and Argentina) are right-hand traffic. But Falkland Islands is left-hand traffic as same as United Kingdom. This SA map contains both traffic rules IRL. When the map will choose right-hand traffic setting for Chile and Argentina , Falkland Islands' traffic will become errored. -
Hi. From "South Atlantic Map early access release note" topic posted in two days ago .... myHelljumper said about airports : So, RAZBAM doesn't aim to make historically accurate runways on current EA-SA map. IRL of 2022, "Stanley Airport" 's main runway is only 918 meters long. Google Earth photo shows this statement. And DCS: SA map's current runway has 1480 meters long inside the markings / 1850 meters long with paved area. From histories of development Port Stanley Airport / RAF Stanley : 1200 meters --- First built in 1979. Might be kept this length to the end of Falklands War in 1982. 1900 meters --- Extended by RAF to operate F-4 Phantom after the war (in late 1982 or early 1983). 1200 meters again --- RAF moved to Mount Pleasant and became a civilian airport in 1986. Paving was removed about unused areas. 918 meters shorten --- Unknown when. I support RAZBAM's decision about the lengths of EA runways longer than historical making missions scalable with many fixed-wing jet fighters. Yes, accurate 1982 choice in the future is also welcome !

Hi, Lifeguard. Beautiful skins and well matched to Syria and PG maps ! Btw .... ED's official IL-76 template psd is a bit troublesome. It's made as a common template for both IL-76 (transport) and IL-78 (tanker) , and we have to turn on/off layers correctly for the variant we want to draw. Its body's psd is composed in the status of IL-78 drawing. IL-78 specific layers (many are named with "78") are turned on , IL-76 specific layers (many are named with "76") are turned off. We have to turn off "78" layers and turn on "76" layers when we want to draw IL-76 transport liveries from its default. But some IL-78 layers aren't named with the text "78" ---- easy to miss turned off ---- and left in publishing. Here is a strange black shadow. This is IL-78's UPAZ (refuel unit) one, not for IL-76. Not few user-made IL-76 skins have been troubled that this shadow layer is left as turned on. The name of the layer drawing the shadow is "Sky-UPAZ" in the layer group named "SKY-SHADOWS" --- folded group. Expand the layer group and turn off the "Sky-UPAZ" layer for IL-76.

Even today's 2.7.11.21408 Open Beta , AI C-47 cargo plane is not available for non-WW2AP users. Also I've checked ME status Historical mode Icon and / or mission year. I can set A-20G in ME, but cannot find C-47 in airplane list. So, I think C-47 keeps a part of WW2AP contents and not move to DCSW's free contents.

Civil aircraft mod + openbeta 2.7
western_JPN replied to Spt's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi. Syria map's airport parking areas have too narrow width X length tolerance that aircrafts can spawn or taxi-to. Even stock AI aircrafts, B-52 and Tu-160 (smaller than B747 IRL) are treated as "No free airport" in Syria map because of their wing_span or length values are over-sized than the map's tolerance. When we edit B_747.lua file's "wing_span =" value and "length =" value smaller like C-17 or KC-135's ones , some available parking spots will come. Too small values brings crashing with buildings / light poles .... hard to balance safety and availability in researching those best values for Syria map. -

Hi. All of my Boeing 747 liveries and its material texture pack are updated as "Revision 2". https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-western0221/apply/ Their windows and doors' size and positions are edited more historical. Current "Revision 2" is not compatible to old "Revision 1" each other. Please download the new packages and update when you have Revision 1s.
-
I edited Boeing 747 template and RoughMet + Normal map textures again and named them as "Revision 2". All uploaded files have been updated, now. "Revision 2" skins and materials are not compatible to old "Revision 1" each other. They have more historical size and positions about windows and doors, door under protectors. Air ACT cargo and Magma Aviation are added new variants. Garuda Indonesia's 2001 -400 has historical windows arrangement as its large galley is placed in starboard side and many windows are closed between R1 - R2 doors and its portside between L1 - L2 doors has full opened windows.

In flightrader24 , I find a Hawaiian Airlines' Airbus A330 flies from MCAS Iwakuni / Japan to Andersen AFB / Guam. It maybe a charter flight. And in researching HAL's charter data, also Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport is sometimes used by HAL as US military charters to Kadena AFB / Japan.
-
The progress of my new Boeing 747 template project is slow. I find a new (small small) texture bug in drawing a new livery after another bug fixed. I feel never ending bug-fixes ..... But its Normal map + RoughMet textures material pack may become enough stable as a release. I uploaded it to ED's User Files uploader, today. I'll publish some of my new skins after that material pack activated by ED staff.

[MOOSE] RAT - Random Air Traffic
western_JPN replied to funkyfranky's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Hi. ED touch NTTR map module in the patch of 2.7.9.17830 Open Beta (and also composed in 2.7.9.18080 stable) as That changes cause Moose RAT script for NTTR map trouble that aircrafts cannot spawn or cannot fly because of many airports / air force bases become missing from RAT. We have to edit the RAT script SetDeparture() and SetDestination() lines to fit the new names. -
I'll separate my 747 skins + templates' topics to my own topic under Liveries section. I try to draw different windows' arrangements -400 BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) or -400 BDSF (Bedek Special Freighter).
