  1. Or they could read the 32 page Force Trim thread... On second thought, reading the Quick Start Guide is probably the way to go. Is this in the released manual, or an upcoming revision? Page 203?
  2. That function doesn't exist in the real aircraft, just in the DCS sim environment. It can be used to instantly reset the trim back to "0" on the cyclic axis and pedal axis, so make sure you are prepared for it, and get your controls to the position where they should be for the current attitude of the aircraft.
  3. It sounds like you are referring to the Trim RESET function. Is this the one that is causing your aircraft to go crazy?
  4. I recently made a tweak that helped my situation with holding the FTR for longer periods. Since I have the FTR mapped to a rather stiff TMS hat on my Warthog stick, holding it was a problem and I would find my finger had relaxed enough to let go of FTR and then axis inputs on my stick were ignored until I re-centered it. Using Joystick Gremlin, I set it up so I could quickly tap up on the hat to toggle FTR on and off (basically telling JG to hold the button down for me), but if I held the hat up for more than 0.25 seconds, FTR would work as intended, lifting the button when I let go of the hat. It took a couple mistakes after I made the change for it to sink in, but now I have adjusted, and it is working well.
  5. I have heard this before in MP. You are saying this is another aircraft nearby, not your own?
  6. It gives you the best of both worlds. Your stick moves and stays where positioned when you want, but then also provides some springy return forces to that new center for minor corrections. Once you have the aircraft trimmed out at a nice hover you can give it some left stick to slip left 20 feet and then some right stick to counter that movement, then let the spring return the stick back to the trimmed position so you can go back to a hover, instead of having to move the stick around with the dry clutches to find that perfect spot again.
  7. In that case, these two videos together might help others (like it helped me) to understand what is happening under the hood when FTR is held. (This looks like some guy's DIY setup, but the principles look to be sound.) In the second video he plugs in the power to the mag brakes, but in reality this would be the condition when the FTR is not pressed. Then, when you press FTR you are releasing the mag brakes and the stick moves without any return spring force. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRCcGSNuoVs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKBLKjo2E7Y
  8. I see where you are going with that idea, but in all of my videos I posted I am flying solo in a MP server and switching seats. Is there such a thing as desync between the PLT and CPG seats when not in a multi-crew setting?
  9. Even after the most recent patch?
  10. Can you describe what a "force gradient" is in more (mechanical) detail? I understand the principles behind what this is doing, but I still don't understand how. Is this a hydraulic system, or servos, or springs?
  11. What trimmer mode are you using for the cyclic? And for the pedals?
  12. That does look pretty sick. Anyone have a feel for the terrain features out east? Some good mountainous regions with towns spotted throughout?
  13. You can start by setting a curve of maybe 20, then using a y-saturation of 70 or 80. This will definitely reduce the overall performance envelope of the aircraft if you were to try and make aggressive maneuvers, but it will help you with the finesse needed for hovering and low-speed flying. Once you have a hang of hovering and landing with these settings, take the y-saturation back out a bit at a time over a few sessions until you are used to each step of the way. You will adapt at each step and train your muscle memory back to a 100 y-saturation level. I fly with a 20cm extension with a curve of 15, and extremely light springs with minimal center detent, and it still takes very minimal adjustments to the cyclic when hovering and landing.
  14. Thanks for taking the time to put those together!
  15. Thanks for the insights. Interesting about the FLIR imaging for the map. I guess I never thought that might be map dependent. Next time you are flying Sinai at night maybe you can grab some shots to show this?
  16. For those that have the new Sinai map, how does it look as a setting for Apache operations? I've seen the pre-release videos, and the Cairo area looks amazing, but I am concerned about how flat the terrain is. When I fly Caucasus or Syria, I like to find tree-covered hills to attack from, but it seems like the mountainous regions aren't built up much with towns and bases. Israel might offer some better mixed terrain in a populated area, though. Impressions?
  17. I watched your track, and the only thing I can think of is that the target was obscured behind a tree? George "saw" the target, got IAT locked, but then wouldn't pull the trigger without LOS? Maybe this is new behavior that was modified in the last patch? I haven't played with George much since the latest patch, but I will keep my eye out for a situation like this. Edit: I looked back and saw the OP said he had targets in the open in his scenario. Hmm.
  18. I also messed around with it a bit after watching his video and couldn't replicate the behavior exactly as he was showing it. I could get a little slip going once I got light-on-wheels, but not a maintained slide across the tarmac. If I was on the ground, the tires would stick. Maybe it's time for him to do a repair, or reinstall?
  19. Thanks for taking the time to make new tracks.
  20. It looks like this bug is back. I see this thread never got any attention from ED the first time around. Can someone confirm this is being looked at? It’s not very helpful to have the CPG launching on targets while what the PLT sees in the back is the TADS drifting aimlessly in some other direction. Would updated track files or a video be helpful here?
  21. Some of the radio functions are currently being overhauled and are not working correctly at the moment. You can get more information if you search the forums for “swap radio”.
  22. I can also confirm, bug is still present.
  23. Another scenario might be a coordinated attack with a wingman from a different direction. I can lase and transfer the target data to the missile, then wait for my wingman to do the same, then we can coordinate the launches at the same time.
  24. If you can post a track, someone can take a look at it and give you some advice.
  25. I'm not sure if this is working quite as intended; at least in my experience. For example, if I'm flying and spot a target off to my 10 o'clock, and I have George find it and lase it with an RF missile ready to go, if I don't get nose-on and command him to engage the target within a few seconds of him stopping his lase, he goes into a routine of trying to reacquire the same target again with the laser, but often he is drifting off the target at this point as I have maneuvered the aircraft too much for him to handle. If I don't command him to engage the target, and then go cold and fly in the opposite direction, he still goes through the routine of periodically "laser on" and "laser off" despite not being able to even get the TADS on the target anymore.
